  1. Just for the fun of it.... The Bleacher report article http://bleacherreport.com/articles/420728-real-red-river-showdown-the-ultimate-bob-stoops-mack-brown-comparison#page/5 Mack Brown's contract at Texas http://i.usatoday.net/sports/graphics/2009/coaches-contracts/pdf/brown_texas.pdf Bob Stoop's contract at Oklahoma http://i.usatoday.net/sports/graphics/2009/coaches-contracts/pdf/stoops_oklahoma.pdf
  2. I'm just sitting around here drinking and the thought popped into my head that we ought to get an all star game going in the Big Ten when we get there... Kind of a college pro-bowl, just for B10 players, just for the fun of it.. Anybody around here got Jim Delaney's email?
  3. I find it hard to believe that Texas will be getting 22 million a year from the Big 12. I know that's what Beebe promised them but I just don't know where that money is going to come from. Even if they start their own Longhorn Network. They might pull in around 17 or 18 million a year I bet. Oh well, we come out better in the end. GBR!!! UNL having a big national following opens up a LOT of markets for BTN. Obviously it's hard to tell right now, but the revenue potential is great. Forbes rates us as the 4rth most valuable brand in college football... UT, ND, PSU are the only schools ahead of us. So if you ask me the future truly looks bright. And all of that is as currently negotiated rates, which undoubtedly will increase when it comes time to renegotiate. lookin bright indeed I'm confident at this point that even IF UT gets that much in it's new contract our guys do better in the long run.
  4. A lot has to do with Dr. Tom. When the guard took over in 07 the whole (sports) world took notice. Of course #1 on the list would just HAVE to be Texas......
  5. So the big ten schools made a total of $22 mil each by this BEFORE adding Nebraska... I'd say when all is said and done we'll see about the same money Texas will be getting from the new B12 deal after all. That is, until 2016 when the B10 package gets redone..... <snicker> How do you like us now, Texas?
  6. Oh I'd like to se UT give the NCAA an ultimatum.... that would be downright funny. UT "Do this or else!" NCAA "Oh really? Lose 50 scholarships a year." UT " .............Oops."
  7. Hey I LIKE snagglepuss! no Baggin on Snagglepuss! I can't escape the impression that the badger and Penn State's Lion both look constipated. though....
  8. Hugh Jackman's agent threatened me with a lawsuit if I mentioned Wolverine and Michigan in the same sentence.... I'm guessing you're getting sued now then eh?
  9. Dan 'Douchebag' Beebe strikes again. Where were these huevos when Texas was ripping the conference apart?
  10. Laugh Yeah I'm watching BTN the other day and there's Indiana basketball highlights on an advertisement... one of the guys ruys running around the basketball court was carrying a flag that read 'GO BIG RED".. Saw that and thought 'hey hey hey now.....' Oh well. As long as nobody decides they can call themselves 'Blackshirts' I'll find a way to live with it ..or at least try to
  11. Northwestern calls themselves NU. I have no problem saying 'The 'N' ", or tNU or whatever. Just being neighborly is all. A bigger question is what are we going to do about Indiana calling themselves the 'Big Red'?
  12. Yeah but just about any qb could given enough time. I doubt he's going to have more than two or three steps and throw on most plays. Any more than that and he's going to eat a lot of footballs.
  13. Oh yeah? that's what the Texas Offensive line thought too. Ask Colt McCoy.......
  14. I'm probably the last one to see this, but just in case.....
  15. 14 most anticapated games. You forgot the CCG and at least the Sugar Bowl.
  16. It already is. The nameless one failed to ruin it.
  17. That video was almost as funny as Kirk ferentz's offense
  18. I'm sure this has been posted before, but what the hell? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bs8QpXi7Mc&feature=related
  19. åfter our guys whip the bejeezus out of mizzou this fall, they get to bring the Victory Bell trophy back home to Lincoln. Since we won't play Mizzou again in conference, I wonder if the two schools will bother with it when we play non conference. Or will they? Thoughts?
  20. I think they suffer from the same disease every other sports fan does. they think thier team is the best and have difficulty recognizing when it isn't. Husker Fans took a couple seasons to figure out we weren't that good anymore..and I think we've really only come to grips with it over the last couple of seasons. I remember back in 1997 I was working at a brokerage in Omaha and one of the women in the office was a Michigan grad and we'd have this debate between us over the MNC that year. My team's better, no you couldnt have beaten us and so forth. We basically figured out that she thought UM was a better team mainly because she followed UM and not UNL and I had the same thoughts about NU for the same reasons...I rarely ever saw michigan play. I fyou see your team winning all the time and don't get to see the other team, it's hard to get an accurate mental image of how they really compare to each other. In other words, UT fans think UT is the best because that's who they see the most of, and Texas wins a lot. The national media on the other hand, as much as we love to bag on them gets to see ALLL the teams ALL the time. While their opinions arent 100% gospel by any means, they do get the opprtunity to form their opinions based upon direct observation than just looking at highlights and offhand comments they hear people make. They have more information that they themselves actually saw live. I know ESPN actually has enough TVS going every week to watch all the major games live. None of us get to do that unless we're in a crowded, loud sports bar.... I have a couple of buddies that are Texas alums and they're decent enough guys. Manny actually has a lot of respect forUNL football and admits we should have won the CCG last year, but got screwed by the officials. I think he and Rich are better examples of what a texan is like than what you see on shaggybevo is.
  21. We can only hope... And as an added bonus, since they'll be keeping more of their in-state recruits, not one of them will ever have better than a 7-6 record and never make a BCS appearance ever again. You could even give them the texas bowl as their annual conference championship game thus ensuring nobody else in the country will ever have to put up with them in the post season. Oh the ABSOLUTE JOY of such a future!!!
  22. I'm less concerned about divisions than I am about scheduling. I truly felt more estranged from the southern B12 schools...more so as time went by. It was like they were a different conference almost. I'd like to see a schedule rotation that allows us to play every team not less than once in two years, however it would work out. I just believe we need to see our conference mates on the field as frequently as possible. PLEASE! no 2 year layoffs!!!!
