  1. Wow! After the MU game Paul was being heralded as a great receiver, a game changer. Now, he is a real dog... I think that all of you should march into Pelini's office and demand that Paul be benched. It is your right as a Nebraska fan. Don't forget to raise your voice and shake your finger in his face...then, you need to go to practice and show all of those little pantywaists how to block, tackle, catch and run. Call me first. I would pay good money to watch. Most of you obviously never played competitive sports or were part of a team...it's easy to criticize from your couch with a beer in your hand.
  2. Amen, robsker! I have been a Husker fan for 40 years, through good and bad times, but in my heart, I really believe we are going to win every game. And we'll catch heck for calling them "teenager" or "kids", but that's what they are. It's a game.....a game and a team I love, and I will support them no matter what! Go Big Red!!! Right there with you. Most of these brats don't remember, but there were tough times under Devaney and Osborne, too. The kids are trying, the coaching staff is teaching. REMEMBER 2007, FOLKS? At least the players are in shape now and play hard to the end!
  3. Never mind these guys, Chesire Bear...they are poor, whining losers who have probably never played football. Baylor is okay, just have had a lot of injuries.
  4. The problem is that Green scares the bejeebers out of a lot of fans on this forum. I think that they're afraid that if we put him in and the dual-threat qb starts having some success, we will eventually go back to the offense of old (which to a lot of youngsters is Frank Solich lol). Then we have given up the "modern-style" offense for something that everyone says "can't work anymore." What? I'm sorry, but no. You're just being an old timer who thinks the solution to everything is to run it up the middle. Five National Championships don't lie...how has Nebraska done since adopting the "modern" offense, sonny?
  5. Anyone who blames the coaching staff for 5 lost fumbles and 3 interceptions is out of their minds. the scheme was good, and the offense moved the ball. the players are the ones that dropped the damn thing!
  6. ISU wanted the game more and scored more points. That equals win, not a forfeit. ISU deserved to win.
  7. Spoken like a good, brainwashed Nebraska Republican...Obama inherited a horrible mess, just like Pelini. the kids (and they are kids) have to overcome the culture of doubt and losing. These kids have all the athletic talent they need. They are put in good schemes and are well-coached. they simply have to believe in themselves and in the system. They have to KNOW that they are going to win, and play to bury the other team, rather than play not to lose. They question, at least to themselves, if they belong in the top teams in the country. The talent difference between the #1 team and the #50 team is not very big. It is a game of confidence. Are you going to quote Glenn Beck next?
  8. What a discussion...no wonder Nebraska football has been suffering for so many years now.
  9. oops!! Damn Internet Explorer! fix it for ya.
  10. The thing to take from this game is that the Nebraska players still do not completely believe in themselves. The game was there for the taking, but they still do not have the killer instinct to shut the door. Physically, they are fine. they are good athletes, and well coached. They just have to learn to win against good teams away from home.
  11. Just for the record, they don't play Army every year. Last time they played was 2006. That just means they packed some other loser on their schedule. They're probably trying to get and home and home with Washburn, Doane or Wilber High School. Well, maybe not...those czech kids are pretty tough. They'll find someone they know they can beat, like the Chiefs...
  12. I hate Notre Dame more than I hate dog crap on my shoes. Even more than Texas, which is hard even for me to believe. I love having Notre Dame on TV all of the time; I can sit and watch them lose to a crummy team every week. Charlie Weis is the Bill Callahan of Notre Dame. I hope he coaches there for another 20 years. Then I can sit in front of the TV and laugh each Saturday. Why do I hate Notre Dame? Gee, let's count the ways (and I'm old, so there are a lot): 1966 vs. Michigan State...go for the tie, Ara, you coward! NCAA rule on position numbering? We don't have to follow any rules! (finally did in 1974) We don't go to bowl games...until we are offered twice as much as our opponents (1969) Rudy... Lou Holtz... BCS sweetheart deal...NBC sweetheart deal...Army and Navy every year...Syracuse every year... Painting they helmets before every game with paint containing real gold dust... Growing the grass on the field to about 5"-6" before the 2000 Nebraska game...
  13. There have been a lot of negative comments on the board about the basketball team this year. But look at the facts: Nebraska is the smallest Division I basketball team. In the country. Period. Usually has no player on the floor taller than 6'5". Most teams' guards are taller than that. Pretty tough to post up a 6'11" player when you're 6'4"... Nebraska is one of the best, if not the best, defensive teams in the country. Playing good defense takes far better coaching, much better conditioning, way more heart and far more belief in your teammates and the system than merely trying to outshoot and outrun an opponent... Sadler has taken (sorry, guys!) a bunch of average players with very average talent and made them into a team that has a chance to beat anyone. A couple of points or a break or two (like the foul called in a 1-point Kansas game; technically a foul but occurs almost every time down the court) and they have several more wins. This team under another coach (say, Collier) is getting run out of the gym. I live in Kansas, and the fans here (who know their basketball) love Sadler. They root for Nebraska all of the time, because they are a TEAM. Anyone who is "through" with Sadler and Nebraska if they lose more games is a lousy fan and knows nothing about basketball.
  14. I just want them to run the offense that makes the most of the players' abilities, rather than try to stuff an offense down the kids throats. They won't be able to run the offense they want until they have the players to do it.
  15. Right there with you. He played hard and did some good things. Maybe some of his critics would like to line up under center and look Suh in the eye. He did fine.
  16. Utah's speed on defense ate Alabama's lunch! there is a difference in athletes and how they are schemed in the play of the game. all things being equal, speed kills, size can be overrated. Then the team with all the track athletes always wins. Then Florida State and Miami cannot lose. Then Nebraska never wins. Check the performance tests and evaluations. They are almost equal for the top half of the Division I teams. Utah simply wanted the game more than Alabama, and were better prepared. "Speed", or the perception of it, is the product of not only athletic ability, but execution, scheme and focus. Clemson's athletes were no faster than Nebraska's, their defense was just well schemed, well coached and well focused. That's why they appeared to "slow down" in the second half when Nebraska played better. Then their "blazing, dominant speed" held Nebraska to only 20 points in the 3rd quarter.
  17. Among the top 35 or so teams, there is not really that much difference in athleticism. There is an execution difference. In the first half, Clemson looked really fast on defense because we executed poorly. In the Second half, you did not see that "speed" difference because of the improvement in assignment execution. There has always been this perception that teams from the southeast and the west coast are full of super athletes who can run twice as fast and jump twice as high as all others. This just isn't so.
  18. They probably won't be ranked since they are not from the east or west coasts. The voters will find other teams from the coasts to fill in. They've kept Pitt there all year and they suck. Hell, Notre Dame beat a crummy Hawaii team in a crappy bowl, so they will be ranked ahead of us. Maryland won a third rate bowl game on a blue field, so they will be ranked ahead of us. Don't forget Oregon State, who snuck by a snoozing USC and crushed Pitt 3-0 in the Excitement Bowl... Just going to have to keep winning games...
  19. Oh, by the way...Fouts has had a hard-on for Nebraska for years. Hates the teams from the midwest. I hated it when I saw on Huskers.com that he was an announcer. We're all just big, slow farm boys. Who just happened to win.
  20. Man, I'm not sure I can respect you as a poster. Keith Jackson has never had more insight into football than "Woah Nelly!" Are you talking about the same Keith Jackson who loves Nebraska, and when younger, used to come to Nebraska games on a regular basis when not calling a game? Hell, he still has forgotten more about football than most of us will ever know.
  21. Before now, UMBC had never beaten a team from a major conference. This was supposed to be a cupcake for us. I watched the ASU game, and we're a BAD team. The Big 12 season will be brutal.
  22. Oklahome was ready to play and win, we were not. Simple.
  23. i agreed that you gotta show up for the game and all that....as far as the talent gap between NU and OU not being that great, you're joking right?...OU is faster and more athletic...talent usually wins out in the end...BO will do just fine just need to give the guy time to recruit No, there is not a 40 point gap in athletic talent between the two teams. Nebraska can run 40 times, perform vertical jumps and lift weights with the best of them. The difference is confidence, attitude, intensity and guts. Nebraska does not believe that they WILL win. They are still recruits and products of the "it's only one game, it's only one season" mentality. You can't coach it, it just has to be there (see Tony Davis). Never underestimate the power of mental toughness. If you go simply by "athletic talent", Texas should never lose a game and should win the national championship every year.
