  1. I Bleed Red is that you.... You must be right You can take it to the bank
  2. I left early... got tired of the guy sitting next to me saying "dude make a play", "and it's games like these, when I want to head butt Bo.", even though at the time Bo hadn't lost a game. Anyway we left with like two minutes, and with the GF being a nurse that had to be at work at three am, we figured that beating some traffic so she could get some sleep was a good thing. Lastly they are MY tickets that I paid for and if I want to leave early or come late, that is my choice. I stand and cheer my lungs out, sometimes people have other things they have to attend to, if I wnat/need to leave early that is my choice. I didn't notice anyone making comments about people leaving early the few games (and it happened), I guess it's a sliding scale around here.
  3. The only thing I have heard about is the west balcony will go all club seating. Beyond that someone told me that the east side soil is shifting and it would be hard to put on a west style up grade, or it will cost a ton. I would think anything major will wait until the next NC, other wise it will just be maintenance .
  4. I think the big difference is NU came in as under dogs, and completely flattened Florida. The closest anyone came to us that year was 23 points (or so). 01 Miami had some close calls, and the 10 drafts picks is a moot point. Just because they had talent doesn't mean they used it as a team. Call USC and ask them what there massive talent levels gave them. In my mind there is no doubt that 95 would of killed 01 Miami. And to be honest
  5. Who cares?! Lots of people wear black, or white (also a team color), heck some wear pink (don't know why), some people are just looking for things to complain about. I personally thought the student section black out looked cool, but I understand it is not our team color.... How about a white out?
  6. 10am should be plenty early... I think you are a little more hard core about this then me, I am not setting up until 12... Anyway more than likely you are in lot 19 (if you already have your tag) or Lot 20 (first come first serve)... They open the restrooms for the baseball filed so you have a nice bathroom, and the large grass areas are open for you to tailgate. If you get there at 10 and the gate is open I am sure you can park, and pay once someone shows up (or they may already be there)... Anyway, those lots are known for there tailgates, and you should have a good time. Just keep an eye out for everyone leaving, as most of the people have figure out when to leave and still get inside with plenty of time. Hope you have a good time Oh and just to make sure it's Haymarket Park. Goto Huskers.com and click on the parking link, it will give you directions on how to get there....
  7. Hello Hokie, and welcome to Lincoln. Tailgating has been a slow evolution around here, few people tailgated 10 years ago, but now it is getting bigger every year. I hope you have a reserved spot, or are planning on getting there early as some places will only let you have one space. I would say bring most of it, unless you know you have the space. Have fun and I will be the guy stealing your brats!!! Also don't forget to bring cups to put your beer in, the cops can get a little odd about this..
  8. We have tailgated there for 2 years now and I have not seen one person get ticketed. Keep it in a plastic cup and don't draw a lot of attention to yourself and they don't bother you. Maybe NOT a CLEAR plastic cup!! This is the one time when Lincoln Cops are really level headed and calm about drinking. Most people us a (Red) plastic cup, and as long as your not messing with people and getting out of hand they will leave you alone.
  9. 7:00 Central... Big tailgate.. Cool fall night in Nebraska, cant wait....
  10. I think its OK to leave it out for the time being. there are enough jerks out there that would boo any sight of a Cally era player... Leave it alone for this year and bring some in next year... The tunnel walk is supposed to be positive, and having some jack a$$ booing would really ruin it.... From what I have heard fly overs are what is available.. They had some black hawks for the first game and a Chinook last week.. I guess nothing was in the area on Saturday....
  11. Just got back from the game, and WOW, I haven't had that much fun at a game in a long time. The crowd was AWESOME!! You could really see the players having fun. The defensive stand during the 3rd quarter was awesome, the crowd, players everyone going nuts... Brings chills even now to write about it.... Really felt like the glory days....
  12. We seem to have this every home game. IMO it has been the same for years. My first game was CU in 96 (possibly 95) and the tunnel walk was so incredibly loud, but after that everyone sat down. I thought it was odd, but I didnt know any better. There was a little more cheering (but we had way more three and outs back then)... and most of the time the game was wrapped up by mid 3rd quarter, and people started leaving... I now sit in west and thought most people got into it, although it died off in the 2nd quarter, although no worse than Cu those many years ago..
  13. Ha Ha Hope its not your wife... Unless she is in to that.. Who am I to judge?
  14. I had read about the 40 second clock before the season started, and didn't like the idea. After seeing it in use, I can see penalties being handed out, when the officials are the ones not getting the lead out and moving the chains etc. I really hope this leaves us next year, as I don't want to see teams being forced into a no huddle situation just because they are pushed for time from slow officials.
  15. Anyone else notice how quiet the music was? Both for the tunnel walk and the video before. I had heard some people were complaining about it being to high last year, but from where I was sitting it really seemed to quiet. Later in the game they seemed to find the volume control, hopefully it was just first game mistakes.
  16. Hey no worries, your mad and needed to get it out. Hang in there though. My brother has heard there is some talk of an expansion, it will be a few years until anything happens though. Hopefully that will get you a seat....
  17. The list is broken into 2 sections. People who have requested tickets, and people who requested tickets and donate. For every $100 you give you get 3 points for the year and 1 lifetime point. You carry the lifetime points with you, and the yearly are just that. They can get you seats but if your donation rate falls, you may not have enough to carry your seats. Although if you have been giving for years, you have enough lifetime points to hold the seat. If you go to huskers.com and click on development they have the system broken down for how it works. Most of the tickets from places like ticket express are from legacy holders. they have 4 or 6 seats and sell off most of them. Due to the legacy part they either do not donate, or give very little. In fact some of these people hold tickets against the rules of the University, by not reporting that the ticket holder has passed away. They maintain a checking account in the fathers name and use that to pay for tickets. UNL has tried to stop this but they cant catch everyone. I feel that people who have 4 or more tickets, and don't use them (ie sell the entire season to ticket express) should lose all except two, this would open up a chance for those who can't donate. The system may be unfair, but it is the only one that works, you cannot shut out people who make a donation, just because someone has been on the list for a longer amount of time. when it comes down to it, donations to the system are the second biggest stream of income the athletic department has. If memory serves I think a person can get season tickets for a donation of $500, I dont know if that is per seat though. In the end someone will end up feeling shut out, but this is the system we have to live by. In the end this is one thing in life where money can buy happiness (at least until the bill comes). Hope that helped clear somethings up. This system has been in place since $Bill came in. It has been rumored that one of the reasons B.D stepped down was he felt uncomfortable in asking for money from fans that until that point never had to pay. To be honest the only way you will move up the list is to donate. Demand for tickets is very high this year, and it would seem a lot of people gave some money (I think the lowest is $100), so that is why you moved backwards, I feel for ya, but in the end that is how it works.
  18. I agree... While it nice to look at our past it is really time to stop with the ESPN bashing, and the "they hate us 'cause we are great" stuff. We are lucky to have such a glorious past, and we should know it, but we need to plan for the future, instead of wishing for the past, just my thoughts......
  19. One way to pass the time is go to the CWS, spent two days up there, the sunburn i got was almost worth it. Great fans, wonderful sunny days, huge Nebraska turnout. Really is nice to see so many locals supporting it. Really glad Omaha sucked it up to do what was needed to keep it.
  20. That is the problem, most of the seats are filled with people over 65, whle I am glad they have supported the team for the last forty years, maybe its time to give the tickets to the kids and watch the game at home. Although, no one has ever told me to sit down, then again I am 6' 7" and 350 of pure fat....
  21. Go for the numbered rows. The lettered ones are only in West (i belive) they ae the old box seats, and they are right up front, the reason they arent numbered is they dont go all the way through. Sounds good untill you have a camera truck parked in front of you during the best play of the game, also those rows are "flat" the rise between rows is very little, so if your short (or at least shorter than those in front of you) you will miss out. 23 rows up will offer a nice view of the field... This link has some more info if you need it, and a better break down of the seating its kinda small but serves it purpose. Seating No matter where you sit it will be an amazing time, have fun. Off point where in the middele east? I am heading to Doha for the first time next week and I'm a little stressed by it, any advice?
  22. There are some in south Lincoln also. Would say Candelwood suites is a good choice, not within walking distance for game day, but in a nice part of town. The Cornhusker Hotel is very nice (Marriott) if you have the money, I think that is where teams stay, but that may of changed...... For the most part Lincoln as a whole is a very safe place. As others have said people dont really mess with visting fans. One big draw back is the Taxi system is slow for a city of our size. Hope you have fun
  23. How about the Meth State Lol. I shouldnt joke about that though its a big problem here in iowa to. Ben Better watch out people can't take a joke on here..... You will be branded not being a "true" Husker fan <------Also that thing is cool
  24. I love it... We are only 2 months in 08 and we already have our first "True Fan" post. It dosent matter what people do, they are a "bandwagon" fan.... I think we all were at some point, any new fan would be jumping on the band wagon, any person that moves here, or anyone that likes what they see on TV and becomes a fan..... Yup they are on the band wagon also..... I get your point with changing from Texas, to USC, to who ever, but guess what that happens everywhere!! People like that are not less honorable, they probably aren't huge football fans to begin with...... The best part is I now get to do this for the the first time this year, in fact I don't think anyone has done this yet
  25. of course, 80% of all percentages are made up and 60% of the time people believe those percentages every time[ Homer Simpson I belive..... The one about the cat burgler.... possible twist of Anchor Man also. I respect you Kung-Fu.... It is strong within you.....
