  1. I'll go out on a limb... -Lavonte David will turn out to be the 2nd coming of Trev Alberts -Niles Paul has 1000 yards receiving and 8 TD's...but Brandon Kinnie will have 700 and 8 in his own right -Roy Helu/Rex Burkhead/Tray Robinson combine for 2200 yards on the ground -No one throws at Amukamara, so Dennard ends up with 9 INT's
  2. I always find it refreshing when Bo takes the media down a peg or two. The media loves to hide behind the "but it's our job, we're working for you...the fan" argument. It's transparent, and always annoys me. I personally can go 2-3 days without fall camp coverage if it is better for the team, and I would guess many other reasonable fans could too. And I'm not some casual fan, I sit at my computer refreshing this board and huskermax.com all day at work.
  3. Just wanted to add another resource for you: http://parking.unl.edu/maps/FootballParkingMap.pdf I highly recommend lots 7 or 12 if you can get them through a third party site. I park in lot 12, and it's great tailgating. Very communal atmosphere. Lot 7 is a little more wild, and I would say a definite party atmosphere, especially at night. It is well worth spending the extra dough for either of these if you want to experience some good tailgating.
  4. I am with you on that one. Me telling Bo that his CB recruits are perhaps not up to snuff is akin to me telling a Mayo Clinic surgeon that his methods are lacking (and... I am not a doctor). +1 Does anyone really trust the Sean Callahan's and Jeremy Crabtree's of the world over Bo freakin' Pelini? I mean cmon now. That is certainly not my point. I never stated that I thought either of these guys were bad offers and I have always been happy with our staff and their recruiting efforts. It is one of those "Which one of these is not like the others" things that just stands out to me, and I am simply curious. Rivals has some weird discrepancies, that is for certain. Browsing commit lists of our Big 10 brethren, check out Indiana's two four star (and Rivals 250) verbals. One committed in April and the other just a few days ago. Between the two of them, they have 4 BCS offers other than Indiana - Cincinnati, Illinois, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Now check out the offer lists of 3 star players like Michigan's Chris Rock, Ohio State's Devin Smith, or our very own Kevin Williams. Now offer lists certainly don't mean everything and there are tons of underrated players out there, but nevertheless this raises questions in my mind at least. I wasn't calling you out specifically, just making a general statement. I trust offer lists much more than i trust star ratings.
  5. Sure, I'll take a game we win 85% of the time over the last century.

  7. I agree. The only people "looking past" Texas Tech is the fans. You can tell how Pelini does things. I can promise you he isn't looking past anyone. Bo said it himself. You aren't going to completely shut down the T-Tech offense. But you also don't have to let them go for 500 yards. Tech may own the 20 to the 20, just based on how they run their offense. But once the field tightens up, and you start seeing more red shirts in there working the defense, we may allow 300 yards passing, and only 10 points. It's all about red zone defense, and I think that is where we are going to shine.
  8. I know everyone is into the blackshirts. I've given this alot of thought. I think blackshirts mean a whole lot more, and might even be a great new tradition, to pass them out for the final regular season game (and have them for the conf. championship and bowl game). For one, it gives the players a ton of motivation all year. Secondly, it makes the blackshirts actually "mean something" as opposed to being handed out early, mostly based on last year's results. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to be talking about the Blackshirts as much as anyone. But we have to understand Bo Pelini is a different cat. No one is EVER going to be handed anything on this team, for as long as he is here. He is clearly not swayed by media pressure, as he has been asked about it since after the FAU game. Based on Pelini's body of work, I will NEVER second guess or question anything he says on the defensive side of the ball. I've never seen results more directly tied to a coach showing up, leaving and then showing back up again as the Nebraska defense has been tied to Pelini. Maybe Urban Meyer at Florida, but lets face it, UF's offense was just fine before Urban got there.
  9. This game is clearly going to be about Nebraska's O vs. Tech's D. VT didn't exactly handle its first quality RB in letting Mark Ingram run wild for 150 yards. Bama is actually very similar to us offensively, from a personnel standpoint. Inexperienced, but talented, QB. Top quality RB just coming into his own. I give V-Tech a slight edge in this matchup, just due to home field advantage. As far as Nebraska D vs. Tech's O....I don't know. I need to see how we rebound against Ark. State next week. If we can figure out a way to stop those midrange passes that are always open at the LB level, and get some pressure rushing our front 4 only, I'll feel much much better about the V-Tech game. We also need to get much better at the point of attack. Unless this FAU RB turns out to be the 2nd coming of Earl Campbell, we shouldn't be letting 2nd tier RB's put their heads down and go up the gut at Suh/Crick for 5-6 yard gains each time.
  10. Anyway, I think I'm done with this thread if you're going to flip over a single line in a recap that is otherwise very, very positive. If you come up with anything better to post, I'll consider continuing the discussion. Haha, i know I shouldn't care. ESPN just burns me up, and has ever since the mid-90's with their coverage of some teams vs. others. It isn't necessarily always against Nebraska.
  11. I guess if you want another example, how about the beloved Florida Gators, giving up nearly as many yards as we did, except they were playing a FCS school that doesn't even belong on the same field as teams in our division. No matter though. Florida is another of ESPN's beloved schools. Only good things to say here, except the blurb at the end where they allow Meyer to make excuse after excuse for their poor play. You can't really argue that ESPN wasn't expecting a good D out of Florida. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=292480057
  12. Arkansas State is our Sun Belt opponent i feared this most coming into the season, and they're play today confirmed that. I guess i wouldn't say i "fear them" but relatively, anyway. I think they'll put some points on us, maybe 17ish, but we'll probably throw upper 40's on them too.
  13. Yeah but thats our statline of the game? Not 158 yards and 3 TD's on 16 carries from Helu? Not 490 yards of offense? Cmon. Generally when a team wins by 46 points against anyone, their better stats are featured.
  14. recaps from ESPN have always been biased, but I'm getting pretty sick of it. Notre Dame wins 35-0 and allows 307 yards, and ESPN doesn't think to mention all the yardage they gave up in the game, and the main comment on the stat of the game is, as written by ESPN: "0. Notre Dame's improved defense made a statement, posting its first shutout of the Charlie Weis era." http://espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=292480087 Now, Nebraska wins even more decisively, 49-3, allowing 358 yards, and the main comment on the stat of the game is, as written by ESPN: "Stat of the game... 358. Nebraska's once vaunted defense allowed the Owls to rack up 358 yards of offense, including 236 in the air." http://espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=292480158 Listen, I get ESPN has unquantifiable amounts of love for Notre Dame, whether they go 2-9 or 11-0. But I'm just getting sick with the biased, crap recaps that ESPN writes, and no one calling their B.S. I don't need people to constantly be glad handing and fawning over Nebraska as they do ND, but what I do need is unbiased commentary from a NEWS SOURCE. I think it's about time ESPN stopped calling themselves a source of news, and went more with a tone of just plain entertainment for anyone who likes a selection of Florida, ND or USC.
  15. I'll go against the Helu grain (I think he's the obvious one), and give my game ball to O'Hanlon. Talk about a ball-hawk. 2 INT's (although one was ruined due to the roughing the passer) and no breakdowns in coverage that I noticed. We need him to play like that every week.
  16. Sorry to hear that. That's the reason I started buying the games on PPV, that way my boys and I can enjoy the games in peace. My watchsite is pretty awesome each week...15 rows up on the 50 yard line. Sorry to hear that though, the only thing i can think of is to hit other places up in your area and try to start a whole new watchsite. Most places will accomodate you for ordering the game if you can promise 10-15 people will be there eating/drinking.
  17. That 2 of Nebraska's big opponents this year both lost. I generally root for our future opponents up until we play them, in hopes that it could provide the biggest possible stage for a Husker win. Wins over these teams will both awesome if we can beat them, but I was really hoping to go to Blackburg playing a top 5 opponent.
  18. I loved Green's play as well. The run was amazing, but he only threw 3 passes, so I personally couldn't get a good read on how accurate he actually is, especially when 1 of the completions was simply a roll out dump off to a TE.
  19. Tonight was an awesome win. We just have a ton of work to do defensively before we get to the Va Tech game, and into conference play. The 3 points given up is nice, but with the offensive yardage that was piled up on us, teams that are good are going to convert those drives as opposed to getting worse around the goalline. No doubt Pelini will get it fixed.
  20. That's what I think. Who on our team has speed besides Asante? I think we neutralized their speed a little bit in the 2nd half with the gameplan. Ganz came out passing and hit Peterson, who used his size to get to the rock. Once we started throwing more it opened it up a bit for Q to hit those holes and break 'em.
  21. Yes, i consider CU a hated rival. OU is more of a friendly rival (or however friendly you can get with another Big 12 team).
  22. Lol, seriously don't sweat Bruce Feldman. This guy doesn't have a clue. He updates the "predictions" every week, but if you look back at most of Feldman's content, you'll realize he rarely has any clue what he's talking about.
  23. I think he sounded very fair. You could tell he'd like to see Nebraska succeed. College football just isn't the same with Nebraska not in the top 10.
