  1. It's a catch 22. Being the HC at one of the worst programs can be seen as being equal to being OC/Ass. HC at NU. I think that Grobe would be the only "safe" bet, both Turner and Bo have their uncertainties. I would prefer Turner to Bo, but if somehow Turner came back in this capacity, it would be the best of both worlds. I'm not sure why everyone says that Bo would leave if he were successful. From everything I have heard he prefers college over the NFL and loved his time at NU. I may be wrong but I think if he would succeed, he will be here for a long time.
  2. Remember that Wanstadt (Spelling??) was Pedersen's 1st choice here 4 years ago. He just didn't get him. Seems like a great marriage to me. A coach who sucks and an AD that sucks even more! You beat me to it, my man
  3. The man is a genius. He was an excellent football coach, but that's the extent of it. He's 0-1 in terms of hiring head coaches. I hope this time he makes a better selection than he did last time. His last hire put us where we are today. Winning 75% of his games looks very good compared to Calllllllahan's 55%(?). Just because Frank couldn't live up to the lofty standards of TO, it does not make him a failure. While Frank might not have been the best choice, he was better than Pederson's choice.
  4. I don't know what's more hilarious, all of these "fish guy" posts, or that most of you guys took the bait. This is great!
  5. yep. even cally beat him TWICE......great coach! Callllllahan also beat Pinkle twice, and he is doing rather well this year. Are you really comparing Nebraska Football to Wake Forrest Football? Come on man
  6. Seriously, the last ex-Raider coach worked out so freaking well didn't he? I am hoping for Turner Gill. He's really growing on me. Kiffin is a good coach, with great pedigree. Callllllahan is not.
  7. Good point, but if most if not all of these kids are local, couldn't they easily make an informal trip to meet with the new coach in person? I'm not sure. Maybe someone else has a better answer. I'm sure they could make an "informal" visit.
  8. CU beat Texas, letting us play in 2001. KSU beat OU. We were rated 2 or 3 when we lost to UT and they were like 7-4. Florida, which was behind us, won the NC that year against FSU I think. The Big 12 got what they wanted on most of these years, cash, and they were able to screw us over. I believe that in each of the years that a lower rated team beat a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd rated (nationally) team in the the Big 12 Championship, the Big 12 got 2 BCS teams instead of one, making the conference a ton of bowl revenue, but they lost out on possible merchandising revenue that would have been earned from a national championship.
  9. Even if it's a shot in the dark, it's worth a phone call. Hell f'ing yes!
  10. I heard that Bo Pelini's children piloted a plane into Duncan Aviation, and the installed cable into the private school that Lane Kiffin's children were just enrolled in. Also, Bear Bryant's coffin was exhumed and was brought into Memorial Stadium, presumably to play poker with Bob Devaney, FWIW.
  11. You obviously haven't done any research. Grobe took Ohio from a doormat to a pretty decent MAC team, and he built Wake, a private "basketball" school with no football tradition, one of the smallest schools in D1, into a ACC champion. He is a great coach, one that we would be very lucky to get.
  12. Mel --- I am with you. Put Dillard in the middle Asante at Will and Culbert at SAM --- and have L. Washington and RSFreshman Stafford backing up on the outside. I do not like this idea at all, I think Asante should stay at Safety, he already has one year of learning the safety spot why start over and make him learn a new spot. Also Culber is undersized at the WILL, and would be extremely undersized playing SAM. Who is going to take Asante's spot at safety, the only safeties we have returning besides Asante and Thenarse are Matt O'Hanlon and Eric Hagg, I would much rather see Asante on the field instead of O'Hanlon or Hagg. Also we have a lot of young talent at LB why put another good player at that spot and just keep one of those talented young guys off the field, when we could have someone like Blake Lawrence and Asante on the field at the same time. Callahan did the same thing with Culbert this year when he moved him to RB when we had plenty of depth their and Major jsut sat on the bench, when he could have been making plays on D. Learning a LB spot is easier for one of the guys in the secondary. Ed Stewart, J Williams, Troy Dumas, Mike Minter and O McFarlin (with many others) made this switch in the 90's. Also, we need to bring speed back to the LB unit. Some of the best LB's NU had would be considered undersized, D. Williams, Farley, J Williams., Ortiz, Johnson. NU's dominant defenses of the 90's all had small, speedy LB's.
  13. I met Dr. Tom in the mid 90's. He had just written another book and had a signing session at the University Bookstore in Lincoln. I had just got off of work and went down that ASAP. I was in my dirty, sweaty, torn up work clothes, and I felt like a total tool. I met Ron Brown outside the stadium once, he was a class act. I used to go the the film sessions at Holy Ghost Church. I bought a "coffee table" book about NU football, and as luck would have it Turner Gill was there and signed my book for me.
  14. I love this idea, but there are 2 negatives: 1) Once Dr. Tom goes on an in-home visit, the new coach will not be able to. This might make it tough for the new coach to make a connection. 2) These kids, especially ones that are not from this area are probably not as awed by Dr. Tom as we are. Face it, these kids were 7 or 8 when Dr. Tom was last winning national championships. I certainly he hope that he is the hammer. Go Tom go!!!
  15. I don't. I just want a coach who respects and embraces NU, one who can coach, and can motivate, and who intends to make this job his last stop, his career, his life. I think that TO will find that, unlike Pederson.
  16. Jesus... thanks for the visual. Ewwwww... Kind of like Brittney S.?
  17. Yep, you can put a teaspoon of sh#t into a 55 gallon drum of ice cream, and it still would be a bucket of sh#t.
  18. ..have retired, I honestly think that we would have easily won 2-4 more national championships, and USC would not be the "power" that they are thought to be. With the parity in college football, just watching how our team played, if we would have been half as physical as were were in the 90's, I think we could have beat teams so badly they never would have wanted to play against us. Sure, we may have had to make modifications on offense, but if we could have remained that physical and had that mindset, we would still be a team that was in the hunt for the NC annually. Any thoughts?
  19. You must have quickly forgot about how the last 4 years came about.
  20. True, and yet even He could see something that Callahan couldn't, that Nebraska's D was the worst ever. Didn't he also say that the North would come down to Mizzou and KU, something that he was ridiculed for? I know he seems like a senile, stuttering, slurring old lady, but he does know something about football.
  21. As long as Calllllllahan is not the head coach, you can pencil in 8 wins and a bowl. No matter who takes the job the future is much brighter than it has been for 4 years.
  22. The more I hear about him, the more I like Jim Grobe. On this list, I like Rodriquez first, and Johnson second. The only problem is that Rich will likely not leave WVU.
  23. Thanks for the kind words, I think Seriously, I want MU to play in the BCS championship, locking OSU out. I think that OU is a little tough, though. Also, you kind of make me laugh.
