  1. These coaches + 2 and 3 star players = Kansas. These coaches + 4 and 5 star players = LSU or Ohio St. LSU or Ohio St > Kansas Thank you, I thought i was the only person on here that thought that way. I know that these 4 and five star kids that Callahan brought in didnt really do anything. But this doesnt mean we just stop going after the best talent. We are Nebraska (not Kansas or Missouri) who have a good year ever 10 years, we need the best kids so we can compete with LSU and OU and USC every year, and get back to dominating Kansas and Mizzou every year.
  2. I think everyone is really looking at the worst case scenario for our recruiting. I think things will turn out much better than most people think. I have read updates from rivals on all those guys and i think we have a great shot at all of them. Hoch i think wants to play for NU and and not just at NU, he had a great relationship with coach Wagner and i dont think he liked the fact that he wasnt retained. However i think once Hoch gets a chance to build a relationship with Barney Cotton him will firm up his committment. Givens might be the most likely out of all these guys to go somewhere else. He is down to NU, Texas, and CU. He will be visting CU this week and then decide before the 1st of the year. He had a visit to Texas a few weeks ago and he said he loved it, so Texas is probably the biggest competition for Givens, but i am a little encouraged because of his relationship with Williams and Compton. Compton is the recruit i am probably least worried about. It seemed like ever since the whole coaching thing happened Compton has been just trying to convince himself that NU was not the best fit for him, and i think he could not fully come to that conclusion, and that is why he is still a NU commit. Blaine Gabbert has been trying to pull Compton over to the Tigers ever since Gabbert committed there, but to no avail so far. Compton had a great visit with Pelini and one of those new coaches from LSU about a week ago and it seemed like Compton was very impressed with with Pelini. I think the fact that we hired a defensive minded coach gives us a huge advantage with Compton. Compton is visiting Missouri this weekend and then has a visit set for Nebraska Jan. 11, He shouldnt be blown away by Mizzou because i am sure he has seen that place before considering it is in-state, so when he comes to NU i think he will decide that is the place for him and solidify his commitment. William was visited by 3 NU coaches(Bo and Carl Pelini, and Marvin Sanders) a few days ago and i think it really set well with him. He even admitted that it would be very hard for a school to top Nebraska, so i think he will end up at NU after it is all said and done. He is visiting CU this weekend with Givens and said he also wants to set up an unofficial visit to NU the same weekend Compton is visiting. So look for Williams to become solid soon after the 1st of the year, if not sooner. -Givens even talked about the possibility of him and Williams being a packaged deal, and Williams is no longer looking at Texas, so that leaves it with CU and NU if these two want to play together. I think we will see Compton become solid after his Missouri visit, then Compton will help pull Williams back on board, and the pull of Williams and Compton i think will help a lot with getting Givens to NU over Texas. So i think there is a great chance to see all four of these gives sign with NU in Feb. and the worst case scenario i think we sign only 2 of the 4, so things are looking pretty good i think.
  3. Wow i would love to see this guy come to NU, this would make me pretty much forget about Jonas Gray. It would be awesome the next few years to see a great mix of Castille, Helu and LaMichael James running all over defenses. Pound them with Castille and then throw in Helu and James to break the opposing D's back and run away from them.
  4. what about MO P, how can Mckeon go to a all star game and not Purify.
  5. I think he should let the team wear black jersey's every once and a while, and bring back all those traditional traditions.
  6. Could he be waiting for Arizona to decide to keep or get rid of Mike Stoops. That is jsut wishful thinking cause i dont think it will happen, but hey i can dream.
  7. Ohh i know is going to be awesome, I cant wait to see it. I even sent DThusker, the guy who makes those videos, an email to see when he was going to come out with a new one, but he hasnt got back to me yet.
  8. I really hope Jordan stays cause i think he is a good coach and is intense jsut like BO. Look at this video of 2006 spring practice highlights, at 1:18 Coach Jordan is doing a blocking drill with the backs and Kenny Wilson dominates some other guy, and Jordan runs over to him and tells him to but on his title belt cause he was the champ (atleast thats what it looks like to me). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CQJO0L6VXU...feature=related So i think Jordan was one of the few coaches who really could get our players going and you know that is what Bo wants. Also it i dont think it would hurt to have another hold over from the previously staff to help the transition. Coach Jordan also seems to be able to really relate to his players and recruits, cause every running back that we have had has only had great things to say about Jordan. I have also read a lot of quotes from recruits that said they had a great relationship with coach Jordan. So i think it would be great to have Jordan on the staff next year.
  9. I swear he was in on almost everysingle tackle in that clip, and he laid some pretty good ones too.
  10. If it waznt for pelini they wouldnt be in the championship game lol seriously their D has been keeping them in games all year long their offience sucks so yea they need 2 give credit where it needs 2 be given seriously thoe all of you're middle school grammer teachers need to be gathered up, put into a room, and have that room set on fire because you suck at the "riting" not to mention your 2nd post is basically unreadable. something about a piclol and we play florida and georgia next year? we play florida everyear! no worries about the d, if we're down its because about half of the best defensive talent ever put together is leaving. but based on the depth ive seen this year, even that won't be a problem. not to mention the names floating around for dc are names i'd take over bo in a heartbeat. (will muschamp, john tenuta) as for the rest of you, continue to sit around and delude yourself about the future, thats ok! based on what ive heard about bo's past here he did well, so congrats, apparently thats a good hire. but, the only thing i can deduce from this is mediocre in the sec = succesful in the big 2/anywhere else. I am not going to argue that the Big 12 is better than the SEC cause the SEC probably is stronger, but is not that much stronger. I know everyone down south is thinks their football is so great and they play so tough and they only reason they dont win the NC every year is cause they beat each other up all year. But seriously the SEC is that far ahead of the Big 12 and Pac 10. I mean just look at the SEC non-conference schedules and results. The only quality win the SEC has against a non-conference foe is LSU handily over V-Tech. What other win can you look at and say now that right there shows that the SEC is great. Auburn over K-State(barely)....NO K-State sucks and Auburn is like #3 or 4 in the SEC. Georgia over OKie State umm NO, Georgia is #2 in the SEC and OK. St. is like #7 or 8 in the Big 12. S. Carolina over N.Carolina, again NO NC is terrible and only won 4 games this year. But if you look at the losses there are a few SEC team that loss to a non-conference opponet, where you can look at that game and say that conference jsut might be better than the SEC. Alambama losing to Florida St. is a game that doesnt tell you much cause both teams arent that great, but then the next week Alabama loses to La. Monroe, come on that is pretty pathetic. By the way who coaches Alamabama, ohh ya Nick Saban, all of LSU fan's man crush. Then Auburn(top team in the SEC) goes down to South Florida who then proceeds to fall off the college football map with 3 losses in a row later in the season. Finally probably the most telling loss by an SEC team is Tennessee to Cal, after that loss Tennessee went on to win its division and Cal went on to suck the rest of the year and finish 7th in the Pac 10. So dont give me all this crap about how "mediocre in the sec = succesful in the big 2/anywhere else" cause it is total BS. I know the SEC is great and blah blah blah, but it is not nearly as far ahead and everyone down there thinks it is. If you want to read more about why the SEC isnt so awesome read this (link) P.S. harp you still have given me ZERO FACTS about you opinion on Pelini and this conference thing is also jsut your opinion. You have no proof to back up anything you say and you are so ignorant that you will never admit to being wrong. good argument. but... I HAVE WATCHED BO COACH FOR THREE YEARS. as i said earlier on paper everything looks honkie-dorie i don't have facts now, just my opinion, which is based off first hand experience... just wait, 1 year from today, ill have all the facts i need, trust me! Or you will have the facts that I need........ahhaa, but i can respect that.
  11. This could be the strangest topic i have ever read. It goes from the BCA and coaches not being interviewed to volleyball and what girls are wearing, then someone stocking another person, to somebody being a slave, something about thongs was in there and then i got a history lesson, with race lesson mixed in...........i mean WOW, this is more educational than school. Maybe my calc teacher wont mind if i skip class so i can learn all these wonderful life lessons on this board.

  13. Dont we have a coach jsut for the safeties. I am not sure who was the safeties coach on the last staff, but if Elmo coached the entire secondary you would think that would put him at a huge disadvantage. Safety and corner are two very different positions and i think each one needs a coach. So if we do have a safeties coach you would think that Frost would be a candidate cause that is what he played in the NFL.
  14. What they said in that article jsut proves what my thoughts of the BCA are. They dont want there to be more black head coaches in football, they want more black headcoaches in the spot light. How come they dont make a big deal about black coaches getting jobs at little schools or D-II schools, cause that is where they need to start. If the BCA wants more black coaches at "big-name schools" they need to spend more time selling these coaches to smaller schools so they can prove that they are worthy of this interview at a big name school.
  15. It's a word that is far, far more offensive and comes out of slavery and a very terrible racist past that resulted in a lot of people dying horribly (as if dying enslaved weren't bad enough). And, no, no one should be called a "cracker" unless they want to be (like Black people who call themselves or their friends "nigga"). And, besides, it's just a word that is offensive to just about everyone-- like "c**t" is to women, but is also to just about everyone. Besides, why do you want to say it? I understand the whole slavery part of it and that was a terrible thing no matter how you look at it. However what i dont understand is that if it is such a big deal that a man can lose his job for only somewhat reffering to this word(nappy headed), then it must really offend people. How can these same people then turn to their friend and use the same word. So if "nappy headed" is such a big deal how can redkneck just be accepted as a way to decribe a certain group of people. I dont really use redkneck in my vocabulary and never use any of those other words, so i could careless whether people use any of these words, but what makes me mad is the double standard that people have, and this is not the double standard of old. Also i think i stated in my original post about how i never use the N word, but i jsut wanted to know why one is ok and the other is not.
  16. Why does everything have to come back to race. My grandfather is pretty racist but i have no problem with any race, but seriously why does this have to be such and issue. I mean most of this country is no longer racist against blacks or mexicans it is becoming more and more racist against white people. Some people will probably say that i am racist because of this, but can someone tell me why cracker is just an accepted word, but as soon as someone says ******, then everyone just freaks out, and its not like i have a use for the "N" word so i could care less whether people use it or not, but why is it ok for one and not ok for the other. Another thing is the Don Imus thing, I do not agree with this mans statements at all. You should never talk about women like that, and i dont care if they are black, white, hispanic, korean, or whatever, Imus should have enough respect for women in generall that he doesnt say those things (especially when those girls from that Rutgers team could probably kick his ace). But instead of people coming out and punishing him for being disrespectfull to women, they have to turn it into a racial thing. I guarentee you if Imus were to call the Nebraska Volleyball team a bunch of redkneck farmers, it wouldnt even make the news paper outside of Nebraska. So the BCA has to complain because there are not enough black head coaches out there. This is probably true because 6 out of 119 is not a good number but i would like to know percentage of black coaches there are as assistants or black coaches of D-II or D-III schools. The BCA wants there to be more black head coaches in college football, but how many black coaches out there are qualified for a D-I heah coaching job at a place like NU or Texas A&M. You never heared the BCA complain when the UNO job came open and a white coach was hired, but as soon as A&M doesnt interview a minority they get their panties up in a bunch. If they want more black coaches to be considered they need to start at the bottom and work their way up. They want to chance to be the top dog without even putting any work in, before you get a chance at a job like NU or A&M you need to work your way up. So for me to repect the BCA they need to start petitioning to get some black coaches at some small schools or more as assistants so they can work their way up and not simply complain that when the top programs dont give minorities a chance cause i dont even know how many black coaches out there deserve a chance at a place like A&M. *edit: This board jsut proved my point, i typed in the actual N word and when i posted, it was censored as ******, but no one has any problem with the word cracker or redkneck.
  17. I would like to see Watson on the sidelines running the offense and keeping everyone intense and ready to play. But i also would like to see and assistant OC up in the box watching the game, cause you get a much better view from the box. Maybe having Co-OC's wouldnt be a bad idea, maybe Watson and Tom Rathman.
  18. If I remember correctly, Pelini was big on, if you don't earn it you don't get it, if you get it, and don't earn it every week you'll lose it. I read it somewhere that this is what he did the year that he was here The year he was here, after the Missouri game when we got beat 41-24 Pelini took the Blackshirts away. The next Saturday, the defense forced EIGHT turnovers as we walloped Texas A&M. Kinda funny this year we lose 41-6 to Missouri and Coz or Callahan do nothing, what happened then. Oh we jsut go out and get destroyed by Ok St. I know that is all in the past, but it is kinda funny to think about.
  19. Also we could not only have a Pelini roaming the sideline, we also might have a Pelini roaming the secondary in about 8 years i think. I am not positive but Bo was a pretty good safety for OSU, was he not?
  20. allow me to translate... ehhhheeemmm: "please don't expose me to anything but blind, rabid, homerism. individual thought makes me gag" let me translate.....EHHHEEEEMMMM: "I have my own personal opinion and no matter how many facts or statistics that prove my opinion wrong i will not change it" Once again i ask you to give me some stats that back up your reasons for considering Bo Pelini a bad coach, instead of simply your "individual thought".
  21. NOPE! nice try, if i was you i'd have gone with generic answer #3 also, but if there is one thing this team has done exceptionally well, its "have an outstanding turn over-ratio." 3 fumbles all year long... none of which were "in lsu territory" and only 2 int's that directly resulted in scores. LSU does have a great turnover ration and there offense does not turn the ball over much at all, LSU is ranked 11th in the nation in fewest turnovers lost with only 15. However the defense is doing much better in this department, LSU's defense is ranked 4th in the nation in takeaways with 33. So the defense should be given more credit for "having an outstanding turn over-ratio". I am by no means an LSU fan, and it would seem harp really likes his LSU tigers, but everything you are saying about Bo Pelini and defense is all just your opinion. So you think you could find some stats that back up this opinion of yours or are you really that bad a of fan that you are getting upset with the #3 D in the nation. If you had to go through what husker fans went through this year you would commit suicide.
  22. I was thinking the same thing after i posted this but so i went and looked at some other SEC teams stats, and if you were to simply look at the individual stats of Auburn and Georgia you would think that they have more talent than LSU but Auburn is sittin at 8th in total defense and Georgia is 19th. For Auburn's individual stats, sacks they have T-50, T-227, and T-233. In Tackles for loss they have T-17, T-246, and T-271. In INT's they have 2 guys T-55th and T-194. For Georgia's individual stats, sacks they have T-43, T-63, T-144, T-150. In Tackles for loss they have T-45, T-115, T-184 and T-271. In INT's they have T-46 and T-212. So even when you look at individual stats of other teams from the SEC it still would seem like LSU isnt way better than Geogia or Auburn.
  23. LSU has a lot of great athletes i will not argue that at all, but i keep hearing how Pelini i underachieving with this defense. You do have talent on that team but i do not think you have the most talent in the nation, maybe not even the 3rd most talent. Take a look at some of the individual stats of LSU's defensive players. LSU has the 1 player in the top 100 sack leaders in the nation(Kirston Pittman T-77th) and Glen Dorsey is T-103. In total tackles you have 2 guys in the top 200(Craig Steltz-158 and Ali Highsmith-T-181). In Tackles for loss you have Dosey and Pittman both T-143 in the nation. Steltz is T-21 in INT's with Chevis Jackson T-97th and Jonathan Zenon T-170. So LSU doesnt have 1 player in the top 20 in one of those categories and only 3 guys in the top 100, but they are still the 3rd ranked D in the nation. now lets look at the #2 and #1 ranks D's USC has 3 guys in the top 100 in sacks (T-18, T-28, and T-77), they have 2 guys in the top 100 in tackles for loss (T-45 and T-80). They have 1 guy in the top 100 in INT's (T-55th) and two guys T-212th. Ohio State has 3 guys in the top 150 in sacks (two players T-121 and 4th), they have two guys in the top 150 in total tackles (T-65 and T-121), and they 4 guys in the top 250 in tackles for loss(T-211, two are T-184, and T-38). Then they have on the INT's list(T-212 and T-115) It seems that both the schools has just as much or more talent thatn LSU has, and they both play in a weaker conference than LSU. So how is LSU doing almost as good as these 2 other schools, well maybe just maybe it is because of the coaching(Bo Pelini).
  24. This one cracks me up. I really don't think that blitzing on a 4th and 12 is the right answer most of the time. This is just a hindsight is 20/20 thing. If they would have blitzed and been burned deep, the same LSU fans would be complaining that he blitzed and should have put in a nickel package. well, it 4th and 12. arky has an inexperienced young qb, they have to score a td to get another ot... you have a severly banged up secondary that has been less than awesome all season long...how does "not blitzing" sound good? Ok lets think about this for a second, I would venture a guess that most DC would have played this the same way Bo did in that one occassion. It might be true that he didnt blitz enough at other times but on 4 and 12 I dont think blitzing is the answer. Before i go on i would like to say i am a big fan of blizing, and getting pressure on the QB, but you have to look at the situation, and in this instance i think Pelini made the right call and Arkansas just made a play. On 4th and 12 you can give up 11 yards and still win the game. You said LSU has a "banged up secondary that has been less than aweseom all season long", well i dont know if you looked at any stats or anything before coming up with this stupid remark, but LSU currently ranks 9th in the nation in passing defense. If you ask any football fan who isnt drooling i think that would be considered awesome, all season. Also in a situation like 4th and 12 the offense can only do so much, a defense doesnt have to worry about a slant, or a 10 yard out, there isnt much threat of a run, all you have to do is keep the WR in front of you and tackle him before he gets 12 yards. Why take away another pass defender and send him after the QB(AR is 3rd in the nation in sacks allowed) when the odds of you getting to him arent that great. and put your DBs in one on one situations where a missed tackle would give up the first down.
  25. Seriously though, the one problem I have is his temper. He's gonna get at least two personal fouls this year for mouthing off to officials. I dont know for sure how much Pelini has matured since he was at NU in 2003, but i have not heard of any incidents involving Pelini when he was at OU or LSU. I think he has matured these 4 years and I think we will see someone in the model of a Bob Stoops or Pete Carol, where Pelini will still have that fire but he will know when to say to when. However i could be wrong, but i dont think it will be much of an issue.
