  1. Yah, it is hard to see whether it was out or not... Sure seems like it wasn't though...
  2. Yah, I'm willing to give him a shot. AHA -- ESPN3 is on!!
  3. ESPN3 is totally killing me here. Wish I could friggin' see what's going on. Fumble doesn't sound good though...
  4. Wow, that's a rough October next year. It's gonna be so crazy matching up with all these Big Ten teams. Still, not necessarily any worse than K-State, Texas, Okie Light, and an undefeated Mizzou this year...
  5. Wow. That's better than i figured. Who knows?
  6. Agreed. Basically zero chance of this. Big 12, BCS and a final Top 5 ranking is ours for the taking though.
  7. I don't know about conspiracy, but I do have to say that the forward progress call was among the dumbest I've ever heard. Forward progress? On a collision that took Gabbert down almost instantaneously? That is some ridiculously stupid crap. I did have a strong feeling that they just made that up in order to punish Nebraska for the supposedly cheap hit that wasn't reviewable.
  8. I agree that the article seemed like a cheap shot against MU. Why do we need to read trash talking articles about a team we just beat? A team we beat with a truly inspired team performance (O-line, D-line, Secondary, Helu, overcoming injuries, etc.) It's true that Pinkel seems to have been out-coached, but they've still had a great season.
  9. I'd say that we look like the better team than Oklahoma so far. Our loss is really looking more and more like a fluke. And as far as the OU beating Texas thing, well, we handled MO pretty handily and they beat the Sooners... The best argument for the Huskers as a top 5 team (which we haven't earned *yet*) is our defense. Defense wins championships and ours is generally amazing. The problem with ranking us higher (other than the UT loss) is consistency. We're still not entirely sure which Husker team is going to show up and neither is the media. We've had real penalty and turnover problems, even in games that we handled pretty well. Still, the last couple weeks were definitely impressive.
  10. That the D-Line can get pressure on the QB when they rush 4 guys. Increased pressure was HUGE today.
  11. Yup. This will be remembered after all. Kick-Ass defensive performance. AMAZING day for the O-Line. All-time greatest rushing day in NE history for Helu. Here's hoping Martinez is back up to speed quickly...
  12. An absolutely amazing performance by Helu and the O-line. 305 yards? Incredible!
  13. Again, good game, Missouri. I know it stings to be on the wrong side of that one.
  14. Good game. Your guys played tough, but this one belonged to Big Red. You may go now.
  15. It does sting. I thought about rooting for UT to pull it out for a minute because of this, and then I came to senses and realized that I was hoping that they lost every remaining game on their schedule. So long and good riddance, Big 12.
  16. True, they don't have the speed that Texas did. But their defensive line looked surprisingly serious and could cause us problems in both the passing and running games. I agree that we'll want a balanced attack with some screens / draws to keep them from pinning their ears back and gunning for Martinez, with some deep balls thrown to open up some room for the ground game. I also think we'll need to find some way to get a little pressure on Gabbert. Here's hoping...
  17. Martinez did look great. There were still more than a regular seeming number of dropped balls, but maybe I'm just hyper-sensitive after last week. But the line play on both sides is a little distressing, especially on D. We've been ready to swallow the run D bending but not breaking this year, but they got broken pretty bad this week. Credit OSU -- They have some great skills guys. I don't think we'll see that much offensive talent agent this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the last time we see more than 21 hung on the blackshirts this season (barring a barrage of turnovers or something)...
  18. I do agree that Lee looked more in control. Noticably more in control. But the coaches decided to go with Martinez this year. Or so we thought. What now? It is, as you suggest, a big mess. I guess I am scared that they were making the right call. Maybe they knew that Martinez was having a total meltdown. After reading that article about his disposition after being benched, I'm scared it was mental stuff they were reacting to as much as his play to that point...
  19. Ouch. That sounds really bad. But how should a freshman QB hailed as the second coming of Eric Crouch react to being benched twice in three games? To feeling like he will be blamed for losing the biggest game in NE for a long, long time. One which the conference change means he can never avenge? To be clear, I don't blame Taylor for this loss, especially since he was denied a shot at making good. Hopefully, he'll be able to understand the call and won't blame himself. 9 times in a row. 9 times. That's 36 quarters of misery and he only played through 2.5 of them. I'm frustrated that we haven't gotten a chance to see if he can pull it together when it's on the line in the 4th quarter. The truly great QB's often pull off miraculous turnaround when all the chips are down. Ok -- The benching was a tough call that could have gone either way. But I am really nervous about our guy now. Here's hoping he can rise above it. He truly has amazing potential. And Big Red needs him.
  20. I agree that benching Martinez was a weird call. Sure, we'd had no success, but some of that was dropped passes. And we didn't even give him a chance to get it together (to the extent that it was even his fault in the first place). The move smacked of desperation. I think it signaled to the team, and to T-Mart, that we don't have a chance. That they'd already lost. Certainly that was the point where I figured it was over. In fairness though, there was a bit of a spark when they put Lee back in. But losing the threat of the big play seems like a very weird call to me when you've been struggling to find anything all day and need several big plays to pull out a win. Then continuing to look for the zone read with Lee in the game was particularly weird... How's everyone feeling about Taylor's confidence going into next week's game then? Getting benched twice in two weeks really can't help his development. Are we back to QB controversy? Does anyone really want to go back to the offense Lee ran last year?
  21. I wish you had been wrong about that, but you did call it.
  22. I'd take this "weakness" of theirs anyday of the week. You do realize Texas is a top 20 run defense and take away the second half against UCLA they give up 2 yards a tote. And it is not like we have been running all over the Steel Curtain, today we find out how good our line is and maybe Barney will earn that paycheck Well, the weakness I was referring to was their running game, not running defense. Still, I've gotta eat crow here. We couldn't get anything done with our running game. In the end, it was fumbles and dropped passes that cost us the game. But our running game sure didn't do anything much and was anything but a strength today. I don't feel like their offense did much of anything either. But as improbable as it seemed to me before now, ours was worse. Who would have called Gilbert Grape out-running Martinez today? Sigh................
