  1. It's just like a speeding ticket. You can pay your fine and forget about it, or show up to court and "try" to fight it. The problem is these guys decided to do nothing, not pay the fine or fix whatever the problem is, which is fine, but you had best show up for the court date then.
  2. It's not a stupid rule necessarily, but just too overboard. I mean one reason a recruit should want to come to a school is because of the school's fans and passion. I understand what they are trying to do, but just say it! Boosters cannot give money, cars, planes, trips, strippers, prostitutes, etc to recruits or players. It's not that hard. And as much as the NCAA may hate it, the internet, messaging, phones, facebook, myspace is part of the world today and they are very much public domain.
  3. Are you tring to get the Huskers an NCAA violation you are not to contact possible recruits. I know the NCAA is pretty serious about this stuff, but truthfully, how can the University be blamed for some person they have no idea about contacting a recruit. If they can get into trouble so easily for this then I am soon to become a OU and UT fan and contact their recruits to get the school in trouble. Really, the NCAA is just trying to weed out any cheating, but to a casual fan who doesn't follow recruiting that close, they would have no idea about this rule. It's really just there to keep the boosters away from forking out cash. Per this rule, when a recruit is seen at a game and people yell their name out of the crowd that would be wrong. Just really a stupid, overly detailed rule. JMHO

  5. http://www.journalstar.com/news/local/doc4...e8213409408.txt Seriously, no excuse here. He is plenty old enough to mark a date on his calendar to show up for court for sh*t's sake.
  6. Problem is that everytime we offer and Oregon offers we seem to be on the losing end of things. The reason it seems that way is because we usually lose out to them on guys we have offered that are from the West Coast. Gabbert is a midwest guy, grew up around the Big 12, and I would guess wants to play in the Big 12.
  7. Been reported that Mizzou commit Marquise Hill has stated he will take an official visit to nebraska and is still a Mizzou commit but probably now considered a very soft verbal. Marquise said, "I really want to go to a Big 12 North school, and I want to go to the best one. I thought Missouri was gonna be the top, but now with Bo Pelini at Nebraska I think they will soon be the best in the North and Big 12 champs. I want to play for the best team, and I feel Nebraska will be that team." Just Kidding. Thought it would be fun to see Fro's reaction.
  8. Missery has 8 victories against Nebraska in the past 39 games...show me indeed. And if you seriously believe that your Tiggers will win the north after losing: both your OC and DC coordinators, a 3 year starter at QB, Maclin and Coffman, among others, then I'll show you alright...I'll show you to a rehab facility so you can kick your crack habit. F' in missery fans...you get two victories over Nebraska, during the four years where we had arguably the worst coaches in college football history on our sideline and you think you're king of the world. As for '08...well the team was still trying to recover from the previous moron we had as head coach. I will show you 4 of the last six (3 of the last 4). Because you and I both know what happened in 1981 effects 2009. Because you know, NOBODY FOR EITHER TEAM WAS BORN THEN. Yes Nebraska ran of 25 staight, that can not be overlooked, BUT its the FAR past and has no effect. That streak ended 6 years ago. Long before anyone on campus now stepped foot there. For that matter Missouri lost its fear in 97. They may not have won that game, or the next 6 but people kept thinking they could win. And when it happend they started expecting to win in Columbia. Infact I would argue that for the current huskers, if they dont beat MU this year there might become a mental hurdle. "Mu just owns us." And when its the middle of a game that thought starts creepin up as things go wrong. I sure know this. Few current Tigers even know what a close game with Nebraka looks like. They are used to walking right up and kickin their aazzzzzes. I have gone over this before, but if you are crapping on this team because of the loss of cordinators, you are dead wrong. BTW does NU have a D cord worth a darn?? NO the they the boneheaded brother who couldnt get his own job. But that doesnt matter because Bo's the HC right? Just checking. I thought that MU's HC was the OC for a National Champion and had been an offensive coach for twice as long as BO BO has been in football. But I am sure that doesnt count right?? Not to mention that the current OC called plays with the old OC last year and the year before and the year...well you get the idea. Let homers talk and dream Jen. Its kinda like you believing NU will blow away the North and Kick MU's butt even though Nebraksa lost one of the highest rated Qb's in their history and two year starter. a 4 year TB who was a great duel threat and a total yardage leader, two of the most decorated WR's in your history including one of the best statistical WR Nebraska has ever had & two NFL caliber O Linemen. Talking smack or not. Its lipstick on a pig. Both teams are doing it. You are just as guilty as MTF. IM OUT! So in a few years if the Huskers go on a streak of 8 or 9 wins in a row Missery fans won't be saying, "Look what we used to do to you 9 years ago. We used to kick your butts." Something tells me if something like this were to happen, Missery fans would be more than happy to go back 9 years to try and rub in our faces that you won so many of so many games against us. Don't be arrogant, you will!!!!!!! Thats not my game. You dont see me talking about how we beat your 97 championship team and got robbed on an illegal play. I dont tell stories about how in 78 MU ended your orange bowl dreams stunning the home crowd. I dont preach about what brad smith did. And I wont talk about what Daniel, Coffman and Maclin did either. I dont brag/live in the past. Really who cares about that. They are fun stories and nice to remember, but does nothing for this years game. It doesnt effect the here and now. IF that was my style I would talk about how MU was the winnest major college program during the 1960's. I would talk smack about how from 58-62 Mu won 4 straight against nebraska by a total margin of 78-0. Thats right 4 straight shutouts. But what does that get me? A whole lotta nothing. Unlike 'husker fan' thats not my style. BTW, We beat you last year!! I should haven't of said you, but instead "they" or something like that. Do you really think since Mizzour has beaten us the last 4/6 and 3/4 years that we don't hear about how Mizzou has been kicking our asses? No offense, but I know when we were on our winning streak against Mizzou I didn't hear anything from Mizzou fans. Now that you've had some success against us most of your fans are just completely arrogant and think Mizzou is the next best thing since sports catheters. Other fans will always say to Nebrask fans now in our last few tough years, "now you know how we felt when Nebraska was beating us year after year after year." What I say to that is, I don't believe we were really rubbing it in your face at the time that was happening. Now there are fans that will go back and bring the Nebraska win streak against Mizzou up in order to use it to defend the program. When all you hear from Mizzou fans is how we are no good, we will never be good again, Mizzou is the class of the North now and always will be, you have to defend your program. We've hit a rough patch, but if we ever start to dominate the North I would bet Mizzou fans won't be so vocal anymore. However, even though we have hit a rough patch, we will always be vocal, confident, and keep the swagga because of our football history. Peace!!!

  10. Everyone needs to start taking it easy on guys that are playing football for the U. They are still college students and will have some fun. O.K., they lost a game and are out that night letting loose. sh#t, I did that all the time after a loss. You can't just sit around and beat yourself up all night. Get a few close friends, go out, have a few brews and relax. No college kid deserves the pressure these guys get put on them. I know some of you want to live your lives vicariously thru them, but don't, live yours and let them live theirs. I know at least 10 guys that have played for the huskers, mostly around my age, and I have never looked at them or any of the other football players I met thru them as anything as than just very talented people. Whether pros or college, they are people. Don't hold them up to king status. Be happy with your own life and what you have. Please just quit holding these athletes up as Gods, they are just people like you and me, but some may have more money than us, or have gotten a better break with a full-ride than us because they are talented. That's it, they are people, they have feelings, they'll make mistakes, and just because they play a game doesn't give us the right to judge them as people. hell looking back on highschool i should have knocked his head off when given the chance. i will make fun of ging because he deserves it he was a goramn idiot and deserves to be called out on it. i'll tell his father and sister and cousin what i think of him and if i see him i'll tell him he deserves what's coming. I wasn't including Gingery in the discussion per se because he has shown to be of low character more than once. I was just saying in general about MOST of these athletes.

  12. There are alot of things wrong. Places where words are missing, double words, misused words, etc. Not picking on you, but you really should fix it. It's a great quote, and you should probably quote it as a Rocky Balboa reference.
  13. i would imagine that winning, head to head, coaches, facilities, where they grew up have a lot more to do with it than fans & history I have never doubted what NU had done in the past, but you are talking about 17 & 18 year-old kids who probably have no clue what happened 10, 20, 30 & 40 years ago. At best their memories go back 5-7 years. NU has done nothing more than anyone else during that time. There is a whole generation outside of Nebraska that know nothing of what NU used to be. All the proof you need for that is to read the interviews they do with these kids. "I dont really know much about nebraska. I am going to go up there and check it out." I cant begin to even count the number of times I have seen that quote or something simular. P.S. What NU should do in MHO, is use the spring game for charity like other schools do. They have enough $ for the program. Instead of pocketing that money, they could take canned goods like MU does, or clothing donations. Just think about the good will that would create. Not only from the state of NU which already loves the university, but more so to the rest of the country. just a thought.... They do alot of charity stuff on actual gamedays at the stadium. Passing the buckets for certain charities, having buckets outside the gates, etc. As many people as we get around the stadium for the spring game, there are alot more on actual gamedays which increases likelihood of making more for the charities. So instead of just doing ONE charity thing a year at a spring game, we do MANY throughout the regular season, as well as things in the offseason.
  14. Disagree. If Mangino stays at Lawrence he could give KU the tradition in football that many KU fans want. Whether one likes him or not, he has done a good job at KU. The question should be, what's the over/under on Mangino making thru this year without keeling over? I sure wish KU would "help" him lose some weight. I mean, come on, get a gastric bypass already!! I hate going to Kansas/NU games now because I am scared to death the game will have to be stopped/canceled half way thru because Mangino will fall over and die on the field. He really needs an intervention before something bad happens. It's bad enough the guy will die, but then to make things worse he will probably fall on someone else when it happens cutting their life short too.
  15. What if the story isn't coming out in order to protect the young lady if aforementioned stat rape did actually occur? I don't think alot of people understand the ramifications this could have on the young lady as far as how she is looked upon by peers and others, especially if she had broke the law in order to seem older. Who says anyone is protecting Cody or the University?? If the stat rape did happen, I'm going to say the ONLY reason it didn't come out was because of her and her parents!!!! I have a feeling TO, Bo, and the University probably didn't necessarily care one way or the other. If it came out it did, in not then it didn't. I would put alot of money on that they are respecting the wishes of the girl and parents!!!!! All aspects need to be looked at and considered. Who is the one really being protected here??? I really think this is something the girl and her parents wanted. JMHO bingo Thank you. I'm not saying this happened, but everyone has been saying that the girls dad is a terrible parent, but I think he is just protecting the girls reputation. This story will never see the light of day, unless the girl and her parents decide to prosecute. The girl has some responsibility in this if it was consensual sex, and I'm sure her parents realize that. The parents don't decide if it is prosecuted. In most cases, parents know what happened, and the situation happens to be kept private without the State knowing about it. Therefore, charges are never brought because the only people that know about it are the underaged and his/her family, and the guilty party. However, If Pelini kicked Glenn off the team for this kind of activity it would prove that someone outside of the situation knew about it (a state employee at that). That would mean that Pelini and the Athletic Dept. are obstructing justice. Parents do NOT have a say if charges are brought. My sister in law had sex with an adult before she was 16, it was consensual. That same guy had sex with another minor in the same circle of friends. Charges were filed in that case. To help build a case against the adult male, my sister-in-law's name was brought up by the other girl to show that the man had a history of this. Even though my mother-in-law faught tooth and nail to keep her daughter off of the stand and to protect her name and help her turn her life around, the State subpoenaeed her and made her give a depostion so the State could add other charges beside the other girl. If it is State knowledge, it is not up to the parents. I'm not sure that being a football coach at a public university is a close enough relationship with the "State" (as you refer to it, the criminal justice system - police, prosecutors, etc.) to obligate him to disclose the existence of a purported crime. If I had a little more time I'd look it up. My somewhat educated guess is that Pelini does not have an affirmative duty to report potential crimes to the police. (I checked it out quickly, Pelini PROBABLY does not have an affirmative duty to report crimes. US law generally does not require anyone to report crimes. Rather, it places the duty on prosecutors and police to discover crimes. If Pelini were subpoenaed and questioned, he WOULD have a duty to answer the prosecutor's questions truthfully.) It all comes down to who you know. The girls father/mother may be some bigtime supporters of the Police Dept. or the DA's office, or have very recently become big time supporters if you know what I mean. Money can make alot of things go away. Anyways, even if they aren't, I'm sure prosecuters would sit down with the parents/girl and hear their side of the story and why they do or don't want the crime prosecuted. And if she is the one who illegaly entered a bar with a fake ID, who's fault is it really??

  17. Yeah they have problems, from not being held accountable for their actions. I never said they shouldn't be held accountable. I'm just saying it's not necessarily because they really knew what they were doing was wrong. I don't think anyone is gonna argue he has some major mental issues. Should we just lock up and throw the key away for every mentally ill patient who commits crimes??
  18. He was an idiot, but I think the idiocy came from a mental issue. I'm not sticking up for guys who beat women, but I guarantee most of these guys have severe mental problems. Nobody does the things LP did without having some problems. I hope now that he is in a place where there is some structure, that he can't runaway from, he is finding the help he needs. I know, some guys go to prison and come out worse than they went in, but some do find the help they need and become better people. I hope he's on the higher road. I wonder if he did turn his life around if he would ever be welcomed back to the program as one of their own?
  19. Oh, I don't know. Only covering up a *serious sexual crime!!! * Unlike the opinions many of you have expressed, yes this would be a BIG deal if it really was stat. rape. And for those who already cast doubt on the young woman's character ahead of Cody's. You should be ashamed of yourselves, especially about your views on women! There is a great deal of difference between 'rape' and 'statutory rape.' Rape is a crime of violence. Statutory rape is an act committed by two people one of whom is not of legal age. When the elder is a male it is often punished by our legal system. But let's look at it from the opposite side. What if an older female has sex with an underage male? I can hear a lot of father's saying, "Atta boy son." T_O_B The point I'm trying to make is, IF any of this is true, and I have no knowledge that it is. It's B.S. for people to assume that it was just some floozy teen girl. Before considering some of the many other feasible, and quite a bit uglier possibilities. I totally agree with you 'statutory rape' is very different from 'rape.' You can have two young people who are 'in love' and 'care for each other' and the only crime that is committed is that one of them is 18 years old and one is 17 years old. T_O_B I again post my original reply to why statutory rape is especially swept under the rug often. I know everyone wants to blame Cody, TO, Bo, etc. But maybe the person to really blame here you never hear about. I am in the party leaning towards the stat rape theory for obvious reasons really(kept quiet, where tix wouldn't be). Now, the reason it was kept quiet can be many, but if I had to put myself as the parent of a young lady this may be how it looked. My daughter is stupid and decides to get a fake ID to get into the bar. She's 17 but could def pass for 21. She meets Cody, they go home together, and what happens every night of the week after bars close happens here. Cody thinks, "Cool, I just scored a hot at least 21 year old." Then sh#t happens. She is bragging to friends about it also, and eventually parents find out(or Cody contacts her thinking no big issue but finds out different). The father is pissed but exactly who is to blame? I know, some think a girl under 18 is still a kid, but if they can make life and death situations with a car, then that "kid" is an adult in my book. 17 year olds know what's right, what's wrong, and what they are doing. Do they make great decisions at this age as much as they would when older, No, but responsiblity must be put in the right places in these type of decisions. So, the daughter doesn't want her name smeared around, neither does her Dad, and really if this is how it happened how could you ever put a case together together to prove Cody "knew" he was doing wrong? Anyways, everyone agrees to make it easiest for everyone, except Bo has to discipline No matter what the case unfortunately, so hello suspension. Now, if Cody knowingly had sex with an underage girl, then yes, bad parents, and bad TO, and bad Bo. If this, then that... He did, she said... A very true thing is that if you assume, you make an ass of you and me.. None of us has any concrete evidence of any thing. T_O_B I gave this theory for the people that just want to thrown Cody under the bus if he committed stat rape. I just want to point out to others that things can happen certain ways where this kind of crime isn't just black and white. There can be alot of gray area. I'm also not going to stone Cody if he didn't know how old she was if they met at a place where everyone has to be of a certain age to enter. I just don't like when people think it's always right to criminally punish someone when the circumstances the crime happened under were not on the up and up.

  21. I never degraded him. If you look back at the post about him leaving I wrote I felt he would sign with an Ivy league.
  22. Kind of what I figured when I heard he was transferring out. However, I would have been pissed if he chose UCLA or South Carolina because I don't feel they are any better academically than UNL. I wouldn't have liked him going to Duke, just because I hate Duke(longtime UNC bball fan), but academics are better and admissions to prestigoious law/med schools easier from there. But Yale, no arguing, you can't argue that one!
  23. Word is he cannot come visit now because he tested poistive for swine flu.

  25. Sorry dude, that is just soooooo freaking ridiculous to say. 16 years old? No he's 18 or 19 Like I originally said, that's a bold statement. I'm a bold man. I don't piddle around with no child's play. Hmmm...and apparently unaware of Nebraska's history of outstanding players that the astronomically low chance that a given recruit will best them all. I agree it was very bold but this last sentance confuses me. Astronomically and low are complete opposites They aren't complete opposites when one is used as an intensifier. It's the equivalent of saying it's "very cold."
