According to Tyjon he had been talking it over for some time with Tristan and possibly KJJ so I wouldn't be surprised if he had told them what he was going to do well before he actually did it.

It is extremely obvious where MR believes we need the most help. All of these hires have been on the defensive side of the ball. Offense has stayed status quo, which tells me he's pretty confident with what we are going to be able to do there

Where does MR go with his next hire? I would assume that Donte Williams will now coach both Safties and Corners eliminating the need to hire another defensive backs coach. My guess is the next hire is a very solid recruiter. It could be Tavita but most likely with the addition of the 10th assistant he will be on staff anyway. This is an opportunity to get another solid recruiter to get more talent on campus. Thoughts?

I kind of like how this caught most people in the organization off guard. This type of a move puts a lot of pressure on people to perform, and that's how it should be. Mike's sending a message that were not going to go forward by just "getting the job done." He wants people in the organization to know that they better excel at what they do, or they will not be at Nebraska.

Are people really not thinking that Riley had to move quickly on this? He did what he had to, it's a cuthroat business. Riley is a mature grown man who is doing what he has to. Can't always consider everyone's feelings, although I'm sure it wasn't fun for Mike.

Me too. This is oddly uncharacteristic of Riley as we know him. It feeds into the "what's going on?" narrative. He was traveling and had to do it as soon as he could. If he were to wait to do it face to face then you risk not getting your guy. By then, he could have been hired by Arkansas. You're really sticking your neck out there for Riley. I imagine it could of been done in person, if Riley wanted it done that way. Banker deserved that after 20 years.... I still think Riley is as good of a man as you'll see, but this move was....odd. Not sure why else it went down that way. If Riley had time to do it in person I'm sure he would have. It really amazes me...all people on here want to do is win, but it seems some may not want to see MR do what that may take. You are either the aggressor and get your guy, or you whiff and get plan B. If my job is on the line, I want the opportunity to get the guy I want. We've seen what happens when coaches settle for their friends, let's see what happens when one doesn't.

I would take Tosh Lupoi in a heartbeat. Don't think he's the hire as I believe Riley has to take a proven DC. His job basically depends on this hire

Is there some thought that this job may not be as desirable as everyone thinks, especially with the supposed pressure on Riley to make these moves. If the job doesn't get done in two years the new DC may be looking for a new job. Obviously if you believe in yourself as a coach that shouldn't be in your mind, but there could be some perceived risk joining this staff at this time
