  1. It's easy to conflate unrelated things in this situation, so this is not to say that he's tipping his hand in this interview, but you can hear the frustration in his voice over the lack of a President in this university.
  2. Starting to see some pushback on this.
  3. Here's a fun trip down memory lane. The Aggies hated Alberts in 2002. https://texags.com/forums/5/topics/179446
  4. UNL is fundamentally broken internally.
  5. I swear if he takes Rhule with him....
  6. This is very interesting. Today Ken Buck made a surprise announcement that he is leaving the House next week. From Filipkowski's blog: Republican Rep. Ken Buck from Colorado, who had previously announced he was leaving Congress at the end of the year, made a surprise announcement this afternoon that he is now leaving next week. Buck represents Colorado's 4th district, where Lauren Boebert has recently moved to run for his vacated seat. This may move up her time frame though from the current Republican primary scheduled for June 25. This move by Buck also reduces the House majority at a critical time by yet another seat, following the departures of Kevin McCarthy and the expulsion of George Santos, who was replaced by a Democrat in the NY special election. It appears based on my reading of the Colorado Special Election statute that no Special Election may be held within 90 days of the general election in November, or within 60 days of a primary which is June 25. Therefore, it seems possible that a Special Election could be held next month to fill this seat. It also appears, since Lauren Boebert is switching districts, that she would have to resign her current House seat in order to be eligible for the Special election. It is also too late to qualify for the ballot in her current district. So, Boebert appears to be in a bit of a bind where she likely will have to resign her current seat in CO-3 to run in the Special Election unless she wants to run against the winner of the Special Election in November, which is not ideal.
  7. This could be another Afghanistan. The Mujahidin outlasted a nation known for its long, slogging, grinding wars. As you say, the Ukrainians share a lot of the same DNA. So there's a chance.
  8. Yes. And this is why Pelini is sitting home paying his mortgage off his his Nebraska coaching stint and not leading the next generation of coaches. He figured out how to defend the first wave of air raid offense. And those offenses adjusted, and he couldn't. 2009 and 2010 Pelini defenses were stupid elite. Past that, they were dinosaurs.
  9. Decent of her to go through with the post-game presser, considering the circumstances.
  10. You're 100% correct. Most of us are a mix of conservative and liberal. Almost nobody is so polarized they can't find something from both sides of the political spectrum to agree with. We've just had such garbage candidates at all levels for so long that politics itself is polarized. The electorate doesn't want that. But we only have so many choices on the ballot.
  11. I'm one of those people, and I can guarantee you the only reason I post those is because someone in my twitter feed posted it because it's wrong/lying/stupid. I haven't watched Fox News in more than ten years, and the last time I did it was because it was all that was on in the hotel lobby. I am unswayed.
  12. You're not actually watching the SOTU address. Please tell us you're not actually factually watching that.
  13. The people vetting these migrants knew. You just found out about it from some post on a racist website, and panicked. You asked yesterday why sources matter. That's why sources matter. That racist website wrote that piece in that specific way to provoke exactly that response in you. Now that you know this is neither uncontrolled nor illegal, you can let it go.
  14. It's an appropriate question, but we also already know why.
  15. This program has been going on for over a year. Hundreds of thousands of people have been flown in over that time. The news would have reported on it if there was a problem, like violent crime spikes in the towns they've come to, or roving gangs attacking people in their homes. Seems like that should have happened by now, and that would make the news. Or, maybe, these people are just coming here, living quiet lives, getting work and enjoying feeling safe, and they're not a problem at all.
  16. I don't think Biden has a lot of popular support. I think most people are like me - I'm never voting for the other guy, so it's Biden. Edit to add - This will be the third straight election that the Democrats have put up a candidate that has big popularity problems. Clinton in 2016, and now Biden in 2020 & 2024. They absolutely cannot afford to do that in 2028. Someone much younger, much more charismatic, has to be on that ticket.
  17. There is zero chance I would fight Mike Tyson - even at 57 years old. This dude is nuts.
  18. Having been forced to watch several episodes, or parts thereof, I can confirm it is not worth your time. None of them are good people.
  19. I like Porter, but this was a misstep. She should have never posted this, and for sure she should have walked it back. This is yet another in a continuing string of verbal/written mistakes by Democrats. The "defund the police" syndrome they have.
  20. Reading comprehension should be a focus in our schools. The headline states, very clearly, that the word "secretly" is unfounded. It is not a secret. They publish the numbers every month. The AP article gives a breakdown of these parolees by nationality. The racist CIS article that started this whole stupid conversation insinuated that this was some clandestine effort to bring bad people to America. It's nothing like that, at all. America's economy depends on these workers. Yeah, they're a different race than you. That doesn't make it a problem.
  21. President Biden: "Donald Trump made it clear he doesn’t want Nikki Haley’s supporters. I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign. I know there is a lot we won’t agree on. But on the fundamental issues of preserving American democracy, on standing up for the rule of law, on treating each other with decency and dignity and respect, on preserving NATO and standing up to America’s adversaries, I hope and believe we can find common ground."
  22. It really is that simple. Of course, anti-immigrant nationalists on the far right fringe are going to use whatever rhetoric they can to scare Americans about it. And it's sad that this is so effective.
