  1. At least Bo had some fun with the conditions.
  2. As a Head Coach, sure. As an Assistant and as a player, he deserves some recognition. Can't forget that he was on the staff for 25 years. true, but I don't think people really see Frank as a former player/assistant anymore. They see him as a former HC. To me it just all seems like a "sorry you got fired by the previous staff" type of thing. Especially when it's Tom doing it - because Tom is the one that hand-picked Frank in the first place. He played for 4 years, then coached running backs for 15 years followed by the 6 years that people really remember. I don't know, just seems far more like an apology than a recognition to me. It's not like there is a massive amount to recognize other than longevity. This seems to be saying that nothing Frank did in his quarter-century of coaching here (you're forgetting the years he ran the JV team) was worth a round of applause. I hardly think that's the case. I think dedicating over half his adult life to this program is worth 15 seconds of applause. Doesn't seem like too much for us to do, nor does it seem like some grand statement.
  3. Saddam had WMD, at least at some point. We know he used gas against the Iranians and the Kurds. The fact that we didn't find them doesn't mean they weren't there. The fact that he had WMD doesn't justify the war.

  5. Caught this blurb at the bottom of Sipple's Spring Game options column. Funny stuff: If we gotta kidnap Frank to get him here, I say let's kidnap Frank to get him here. Our best two options would be: 11/10 - Penn State 11/17 - Minnesota The Bobcats aren't playing either Saturday (they play Wednesday games those weeks) and they should both be pretty good games for the Huskers. Frank deserves a round of applause. I say we get this done.
  6. There probably wasn't a great way to decide the winner here, but I did. Here's how I did it: I went to DraftPickLottery.com and entered everyone's name into the "draft." It was an unweighted draft, meaning everyone got one "ball" in the lottery. Only those who put in a pick prior to the (scheduled) start of the game were eligible. After entering all the names, the website kicked out a draft order. The guy who got the #1 pick "won" the lottery, and therefore becomes our new Head Coach. So, everyone congratulate BIG ERN, who will finish out the term as the HuskerBoard Head Coach. BIG ERN will be eligible for the same position next year in the Starting Lineup. Only those elected into positions are ineligible for the same position next year. Feel free to start wearing your new avatar any time, BIG ERN. Have fun!
  7. The Trifecta was the best-represented of the gangs. We comprised 1/3 of the total number of attendees.
  8. My guess is it had a lot to do with the fact that the Hawks Championship Center is a tin shed with no basement, no storm cellar, and it would have been a difficult proposition to get the roughly 200-250 people (players, coaches, recruits and various family) who would have been allowed to attend that practice into a safe place should a storm have hit. There were 122 tornadoes Saturday. Here's a link to the storm paths. If even one player, one recruit, one recruit's family member or one fan gets hurt by a storm, the negative press would have been catastrophic. Why risk that? I lost over $100 Saturday between tickets and concessions waiting for the game to start. Sucks. But at some point you just have to chalk it up to bad luck and move on.
  9. I think it's perfectly obvious that the open corners are there to provide space for the buttresses of the future dome.
  10. In general I agree with the bold. I've read the physics articles explaining how the Universe came to be from "nothing" and I find them not entirely convincing. However, that fact does not IN ANY WAY mean there is a god. Or, conversely, it doesn't mean that the Christian God is THE god. It's as much proof of the existence of Zeus, Thor, the Flying Spaghetti Monster or Vishnu as it is proof of the Christian God's existence.
  11. It's been moved around, but as far as I know it's still on track. I think the original location was supposed to be between Haymarket Park and the Arena, but now it's going to be on the 600 block of O Street. Basically you'll be able to go over the O Street overpass and look at the roof of the Breslow Center just to the north of the viaduct. I believe they're putting in footings for it right now.
  12. There are equal amounts of proof for the lack of existence of the Christian God as there is for the lack of the existence of the gods of the Maya, Inca, Romans, Greeks, etc. Again, the burden of proof does not lay with those who do not believe in the Christian God. The burden of proof lies with those who profess his existence. I don't get to randomly announce the existence of a god, and when you can't prove it doesn't exist, claim that as proof of its existence.
  13. It's official - 4/14/12 was a very crummy day. Spring Game rained out, we didn't realize the volleyball match was at 5pm (we thought it was 7pm) so we missed that, and now the family is in the basement hiding from the midnight storm. Go away, 4/14. I do not like you.
  14. First year without a Spring Game since 1950.

they were 6-2-1 that year. we're screwed.

  15. I wonder what this means for the Volleyball Spring Game as well. The Huskers were supposed to play Wichita State tonight at the Coliseum. They're going to announce tomorrow if they're going to try to play the game tomorrow afternoon, or just cancel it altogether. If they cancel it, I wonder if they'll hand out refunds.
  16. Here's my attempt to turn a total loss into a slight win. Some pics of the arena and east stadium from a different angle than normal. The Champions Club folks chose to stay home rather than risk the weather. Turns out, they were the smart ones.
  17. There were some requests for pictures of the event. To my knowledge only one picture was actually taken, by me, and it was too dark to make anything out. So, in an effort to give folks an idea of the festivities, I scoured the interwebz to find as close an approximation of the guys as I could find. Here's what I got:
  18. Good pics, corncraze! I'm just disappointed you didn't meet us for a barley soda this evening, if you were in town!
  19. I think we should have a moment of silence for the many beers who met their demise tonight. Great times with darkhorse95, PaulCrewe, Gmoose, Enhance95 and GM_Tood. If you didn't come out, you missed a good time. Agree that we must do this again.
  20. I have no idea how crowded Brewsky's gets this time of day. We may not get a table. This could be interesting. EDIT - I'll be the one wearing a Husker cap, stinking a little because I just finished some yard work and I'm too lazy to take a shower to have a beer with some guys. Unless one of you is really cute - then maybe I'll clean up.
  21. Just saw this from Josh Harvey. Is he talking about one of these guys, speed? joshharveyscout Did you know the nation's No. 2 recruit in the 2014 class is headed to #Nebraska this weekend, @CoachMiles & crew doing some work. #Huskers
  22. I know all there is to know about psychology. I took psych 101 Keller Plan.
