  1. Right. Because the worst economy the U.S. has seen in 90 years should be wiped clean within ONE YEAR after the new president takes over. That makes perfect sense, Fox. And if you want to know what the budget deficits are under Obama, go google them. It's never been my contention that they were good. That's your point, and if you want to make it, then you make it. I didn't bring it up and I'm not chasing down that red herring.
  2. Sorry, Johnny, but I'm just trying to keep you afloat here. So, what would have happened to the girl who was raped in approximately "Deuteronomy times" if they didn't make the man who raped her marry her? She would have been the responsibility of her father or eldest brother and lived with him in his household. Were this not possible her existence would have been similar to that of Esther - she would have eked out an existence gleaning grain from the harvested fields. Why? Because the "same yesterday, today and tomorrow" God of the Bible apparently told the men of that time to treat women that way. Oddly enough, that "same yesterday, today and tomorrow" God of the Bible seems to have changed his mind today, and allows single women the right to work and earn a living on their own, without having to be the chattel of some male - especially not a male who raped her. Bonus, huh?
  3. Do you really think simply naming the budget deficits explains why those deficits exist? You seem to be steering this into a "Barack Obama is turning us into Greece in ten years" conversation, and that's not remotely true. Obama's policies do not exist in a vacuum, and you can look back to Fox News' most favorite recent president, George Bush, for the reasons why most of our current economic policies are happening. Bush left Obama with an economy the equivalent of a Stage III cancer patient. Obama is applying chemo and Fox News is herp-derping about the poison going into the system. They're right - these economic policies are not good in the long-term. But, like chemo, they're better than letting the patient die.
  4. Which era? Jesus', or that covered by Deuteronomy? You've been changing eras throughout this conversation. Further, which culture? Israel and its contemporaries or "other?" Obviously Deuteronomy! What would have happened to that time when the text was written? Which culture? And don't say "obviously" because you skipped to another era mid-conversation, if you recall. I have clarified now so what is your answer? You still haven't clarified. Israel? "Other?" Again - reading is still fundamental after all these years.

  7. Johnny, you need to brush up on your reading skills. At no time have I ever said we are not in trouble. In fact, I've said the opposite several times. You seem to have this narrative pre-determined in your brain that you cannot diverge from. Read what others are saying, not what you want to hear. You say the numbers are not good but then you say we have low unemployment and other things that are not the critical issue. When do you think (what year) our interest payment on the debt matches our GDP? How many years until we can't pay anything but the interest on the debt? What do you think will happen to inflation when the Us govt tries to print money to pay it's debt? I am just wondering how much trouble do you think we are in? And as far as the left/ right thing, I was getting madder at Bush every year he had a bigger deficit. Even as bad as he was with the debt, he added five trillion total, I believe. BO has already added that much in three years. And if he gets reelected you can add another 6 trillion to the debt after his next four years. No one will touch SS or MDCIAD and we are in deep doo, doo. My kids we never see what a great country this was before all this spending and I really feel sorry that no one has the discipline to do the right thing (R or D). At leas the R tried to reign in spending with the Ryan plan. Good or bad, they tried something. The sad thing is that when we are all in the crap hole there is no solace in knowing we told you so. "We told you so?" Who is this "we" and "you" that you're dreaming up? You seem to believe that you're the only person who thinks we're in a big hole. You're not. Simply because I do not agree that we are Greece now, Greece ten years ago, or that in ten years we will be Greece, does not mean that I - or anyone else - thinks we're OK. You're not enlightening anyone on anything. We're in a bad way. We cannot spend our way out of it. Your Fox News Derp that Obama is going to add another X-number of dollars to the debt is bunk, it's based on fear-mongering that you fall into all too easily, and those of us who do not suck the Fox teat don't have to agree with the worst-case-scenario to understand that we're in a bad economic time.
  8. Are you asking what WOULD have happened or what SHOULD have happened? Further, are you talking specifically in the Levant and environs or in all cultures? Because not all Bronze Age cultures treated women like chattel (the Celts, the Picts, and various African cultures didn't). I'm presuming, based on the conversation, that we're talking about Israel and its local contemporaries. What should have happened was, the rapist should have been punished, brutally, and the woman allowed to go on with her life. But that isn't what happened, and that's very strange considering the fact that God's views on the subject haven't changed. God is the same "yesterday, today, and tomorrow." But, mysteriously, women aren't treated the same as they were "yesterday" by God's followers. That is because Jesus is the new covenant, he changed everything, the old was washed away and he is the way , the truth ,the life. You seem to easily lose track of the conversation. Let me help you. We were talking about Deuteronomy, not Jesus' time, or post-Jesus. What are you asking?

  10. Update. I'm still game for this if everyone else is.
  11. The original surveillance footage was way too grainy for anyone to make any conclusive reports from. The guy could have had bruising all around his neck and it wouldn't have shown well. Still so much information to come out about this situation. Still way too early to get all up in arms over anything.
  12. Here's Suh with the new Lions jersey, and some gloves.
  13. Not buying it, again, for the multiple reasons I cited. Our debt structure is tremendously different than Greece's. Not only is Greece not the world's top economy, it's not even close, and has never been (not even during Alexander's or Alcibiades' time), while America has held that spot for decades and decades. Further, the unemployment numbers cannot simply be overlooked because they don't fit your argument. Greece's unemployment is near-catastrophic. Ours dipped to uncomfortable levels and is returning to more tolerable levels. Now, I definitely agree with you that we are not in good shape. But we can get back in good shape if we work at it, and it won't take even remotely the same work as it's taking for Greece. Europe doesn't need to bail us out (we're bailing Europe out, actually, which is in turn bailing out Greece), and we have the internal capacity to right this ship. It's not good. But it's not nearly as bad as your Fox News zombie-think overlords are telling you - and they would be telling you a tremendously different thing than they are now if a GOP man was in the White House. We know that because, as Rome burned back in 2008, Fox kept playing its fiddle hoping the GOP would, once again, retain control of the White House. Once that didn't happen, doom-and-gloom prevailed. The take-away is, be wary and vigilant against the excesses of government. But be blind toward those who would lie to you to gain your viewership. The latter is the greater evil.
  14. Regardless, Carl was billing the entire line as very deep. Several times.
  15. Kenny Bell/Antoine Dodsen and Barnstache/Sergeant Slaughter are awesome.

  17. Again, I never said the numbers weren't scary. I never said we were in good shape. I ONLY said that we are not = Greece. Not now, not ten years ago.
  18. Put me down for the 1983 version, if we're going to use throwbacks. That was a badass look. I don't think we're going to do anything like a throwback, though. "Futuristic" was the buzz word, and I bet they do something pretty nice-looking.
  19. Carl was quoted a few times talking about how deep we were across the D Line. He talked about using various DEs situationally because of that depth. We had: Camstache & Ankrah, Carter & Williams, and E Mart. That was a legit two-deep, with Martin ranging around in there... somewhere. It wasn't just at D Tackle that we felt secure. It was across the whole D Line. That means either we were getting a lot of sunshine pumped at us by the coaching staff or they didn't evaluate the talent very well or (and this is my personal belief) the scheme sucked. It sucked big-time.
  20. I'd like to see Taylor get very little work, actually. Same for Rex. Let's see the improvement Martinez has made in his footwork - or, at least, that it's improving, and put him on the sideline signalling in plays. Let Rex have one carry and bench him. We know what we have in those two, at least on the ground. I want to see that Carnes has improved, and that we're not going to fall off a cliff if Martinez gets banged up again. I want to know (not just suspect) that AA and Green can carry the load if (God forbid) Rex gets hurt. I want to know that the O Line has improved. I want to see the D Line do something magical, and I want to see that carry over to the regular season. Last year Eric Martin knifed through the O Line like a hot knife through butter several times in the Spring Game, then largely disappeared in the regular season.
  21. I'm not saying that we're in good shape. We're not. You simply said that we are the equivalent of Greece, and for many, many reasons we aren't. You get called on it just about every time you parrot Fox News' derp. This is just another one of those times.
  22. There are lots to choose from. I'm pretty excited about Wiscy coming because I want to return the favor they gave us last year. It'll be exciting to see the Southern Miss game. Should be a pretty good game. We've put in a request for Northwestern tickets, which would be my first Husker game in an away stadium in over 25 years, so that would be cool. But mostly I'm interested in the pageantry of having Michigan come to town. Should be an excellent matchup, and yet another historic game.
  23. It's that time of year again. Time to focus on our own. As always, be funny but be respectful. These are our guys, after all. Edit: Here's another one. Walker Ashburn and Muttley, from Hanna Barbera cartoons.
  24. That's a many, many paragraphs-long answer, and I don't want to write that any more than you probably want to read it. Further, without much research that I'm not going to perform, I don't know what current standards are on such searches. All I'm willing to say is, this goes too far. Of that I'm quite certain.
