  1. That's Good!....isn't it. Did you out practice A Rod?? He injured...? Word from Sipple and Sean Callahan is that ARod is sick. He didn't travel, and he wasn't replaced on the travel roster.
  2. Possibility that some records could fall today: Lavonte David needs just 9 more tackles to break into the Huskers top-10 all-time list. Trev Alberts ranks 10th at 248, David is T-13 w/ 240. Taylor Martinez needs just 142 passing yards to pass Vince Ferragamo (3,224) and Turner Gill (3,317) for 7th on NU career passing list. Martinez needs just 174 total yards to pass Steve Taylor (4,940) and Dave Humm (5,027) for 7th on NU career total offense list. Courtesy Robin Washut, via Twitter.
  3. Let's keep this to Husker music. If you want to discuss bands, music, or good songs, I suggest this thread. Thanks!
  4. The whole school will not forever be punished for the errors of a few people. This is a setback, not a death knell. They'll recover.
  5. By now everyone knows what happened in Happy Valley. There are dozens of threads where we can discuss that situation. This thread is ONLY for discussing the game. It should not be used to allude to, refer to, or comment on the Sandusky scandal. We need to be clear about this: NO JOKES. No references to the allegations at all, nothing, in this thread. It's not the place. No pictures, no comments, no rants about Penn State, their players or their coaches in reference to this scandal. If you think it's possible it could be taken the wrong way, don't post it. What you post here will be reviewed, and proper action will be taken if this warning is not heeded. I would encourage everyone to use the Report button if they see anything questionable. With that regrettable warning taken care of, let's all enjoy the game.
  6. Yep. Iowegian. We'll worry about this game in two weeks. For now, we're going to focus on Penn State.
  7. I have no idea what this is about. What I do know is that every one of the posts made by this account has come from the same computer, meaning this story of a stolen password is highly unlikely. Suspect: my son horsing around or god forbid, my wife or my daughters, I hope unlikely. Don't rule out ninjas.
  8. Have you read the grand jury report? To say they are not responsible seems absurd if you have read it. If someone see's something happen, if someone knows of a trend of things happening and they still do NOTHING...they are responsible. How is the Psych 101 professor responsible? How is the Grad Student studying physics responsible? How is the foreign exchange student studying business responsible? How is the staff at the dorm cafeteria responsible? The responsible people are the ones who knew, or had reason to know. Blaming THE WHOLE SCHOOL makes no sense. That's all I'm saying.
  9. Agreed. That's all there is to it.
  10. Penn State as an entire institution is NOT responsible for Sandusky's actions. Specific people are, and the law will hopefully deal with them appropriately. A football game is in no way a method of gaining vengeance on someone for something. It is a game. That's all it is.
  11. Really? Do you have a reading comprehension problem? The law at that time says he fulfilled his legal obligation and I also said that doesn't mean we have to like it. Where in any of my posts am I defending the man??? In fact, I said I would go after everyone involved, did I not? I really don't know wtf your problem is, because we are on the same side in the whole thing. The thing I can't stand is you guys all thing you are judge, jury, and F@#$$%% executioner. I am not confusing anything so don't tell me I am. I might be wrong that he could sue, but if he is fired for this scandal (which don't give me a bullsh!t story that he wasn't) and he is found of no wrong doing...isn't that wrongful termination? I have seen crazier things and a good lawyer could find something there. Calm down. People get fired for these kinds of things all the time. Failure to uphold your employer's moral codes, whatever they may be, are grounds for termination. Without looking specifically at Paterno's contract, I'm guessing there was a morality clause. Again, this is a very common thing. The BoT likely told Joe that while he had done "the legal minimum" he did not uphold his obligations to the children, and they fired him. If I had a dollar for every time I've heard of someone getting fired for something like this, I could go out to a really nice dinner. With friends. And I'd buy. And I'd leave a good tip. If you're not intending to defend Paterno, lines like this are poorly chosen: "The thing I can't stand is you guys all thing you are judge, jury, and F#$$%% executioner." It's simple common sense to see why Paterno was fired. It is not uncommon. Going on and on and on about "fulfilled his legal obligation" is irrelevant to why he got fired, but it does appear that you are defending the man.
  12. I could see a reflection of their treatment of Husker fans happening. If they harass our team/fans, and/or riot after the game, I think they're in for a pretty bad time at Madison and Columbus.
  13. Richard, try these: The first one is the same image with a black border on top and bottom. The second is the original image stretched ten pixels. The third is the second, scaled down to 100x100. Hope one of those works for you.
  14. Now you're just stringing me along. Ba-dum BUM.
  15. We're quibbling over minutiae. Saying he did something is technically correct. It is like giving a village a task of moving a mountain, and having the man who owns the largest excavator move one grain of sand. We can go over this all day. The bottom line is, Paterno didn't do what he should have done. End of story. I agree and I have gone into this more then I would have liked to. I am passionate about the law and being innocent until proven guilty. As Mr. Paterno did fulfill his legal obligation...it doesn't mean we have to like the law and I am glad that PA got it changed in 2007. The authorities need evidence that Mr. Paterno knew more, but until then he is innocent. If Mr. Paterno wanted to he could get a good lawyer and sue the state for wrongful termination. Either way it makes me sick and I am done talking about it...I would be going after everyone involved if I was the attorney general. Your continued defense of Paterno is baffling. He has ZERO claim for wrongful termination. None. And if he has any honor whatsoever he wouldn't even try to file such a claim. You are also confusing reasons for termination and evidence necessary to convict in a court of law. These are not the same thing. This continued mantra of "Paterno fulfilled his legal obligation" is disgusting. It is the defense of a coward, and if that's how JoePa thinks children should be defended, he was never EVER the kind of man who should be responsible for shaping young lives.
  16. Nebraska's Rex Burkhead and Wisconsin's Montee Ball have been named semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the nation's top running back. The other semifinalists are: Ronnie Hillman, San Diego State LaMichael James, Oregon Henry Josey, Missouri Zach Line, SMU Chris Polk, Washington Joseph Randle, Oklahoma State Trent Richardson, Alabama David Wilson, Virginia Tech LINK

  18. except that these theories use the unifying theory that the universe is governed by a set of rules. And if the universe follows these rules, then we can deduce how the universe works. "If it obeys the rules, then the rules must be revealed by that behavior." So it's not taken on faith. Someone comes up with a theory based on current knowledge of how things work with the universe. Other people view this theory and make suggestions or criticisms and the theory is adjusted...or a new one is created. Inching ever and ever closer to what is the real truth. But it's not like these scientists are just making up claims without evidence. I bet each and everyone could tell you the step by step evidence that led them to their final theory. But it's still a theory. Yes, all evidence points to the fact, but the fact has not been proven yet. I agree that using the word "faith" is problematic. I see similarities in the situations, that's all.
  19. If it is what happened, it's stupid in that Bo is essentially telling his team, "Do as I say, not as I do." Something is holding this team back. Bo is quite possibly part of the problem. I am eager to see him grow past this problem and be the best Bo he can be.
  20. I'd actually pay to see that...for any game I want to watch. Me too. Would definitely be worth the money. If you believe the message board rants they are planning to do so in droves, but primarily out of anger over the trustees firing Paterno rather than the fact that the school administration covered up pedophilia for a decade. They are still blinded by JoePa's celebrity. It is to be hoped that in time they'll realize the gravity of his failure to move on actionable knowledge and stop hero-worshiping him to this degree. We'll see.
  21. I can stop you at that first sentence. Because you do not need to prove anything beyond what you've written right here to know that Paterno had an obligation to cry to high heaven that something was horribly, dreadfully wrong based on that alone, right there. Joe Paterno had the biggest voice on that campus, the highest podium from which to declaim, and he did nothing. That right there is why he got fired.
  22. Failure to provide a full and complete explanation of this (which is currently scientifically impossible, and may never be possible) does not mean that God exists. It does prove you have to have faith that their is a God or their is science. Science isn't just facts many things in science requires faith. So you are just on the other side o fthe same coin. It no more proves that you have to have faith in the existence of God (or a god) than the sun rising in the east proves that you have to have faith in God. There are some mechanical functions of the universe for which there are explanations, and for which there are theories but no explanations yet. I agree with your use of the word faith when it comes to certain tenets of science. Without proof there must be faith, and faith in the theories of the Big Bang are still that - faith. Some will argue that they are less faith-based than theory-based, and there's merit to that argument, but in the end you have to accept certain things without evidence. That's faith, at least the way I define it. Regardless, having zero proof of the mechanics of the origin of the universe =/= "The Judeo-Christian God is real." The exact same argument can be made for the existence of Vishnu, Zeus, Jupiter, Odin, Ah Uuc Ticab, Quetzacoatl, etc.
