I can understand why someone who's not a fan of the Huskers would think that 1995 Nebraska wasn't an "important moment." 1995 was a terrifying ride through the landscape of college football where one team annihilated everyone/everything in its path. It was the college football equivalent of Sherman's March, where a superior force utterly humiliated and demoralized their opponent in every engagement. I can imagine how non-Husker fans would want to diminish that accomplishment. I imagine most of the college football world would just as soon forget 1995 ever happened.

I wonder what impact this will have on fantasy sports. MLB tried (unsuccessfully) to limit the use of players' stats and information in fantasy sports applications a few years back. They lost, on the grounds that using such information was no different than the local paper printing a box score. The obvious difference here is that a likeness is being used. Still, I think they have little chance of success.

Please tell me you see the tremendous irony in this post.

This is going to earn reminders of Nutt hiring Malzahn with Mustain in tow. The press will run with that story roughly five seconds after it's officially announced.

Since Taariq Allen was his player and he's a WR, and we're losing a WR coach, you'd think he would come in as our WR coach.

Backing off from those names already? You had that up for, what - two minutes before changing your post? We've heard all four names in the mix. Any confirmation, or is this your opinion?

I'd bet it's not a lot more than saying hi in the hallway. While Bo is learning from Tom, you can bet he's running the ship HIS way. And Tom is smart enough to know that micro-managing Bo is an easy recipe to disaster. Tom is no puppet master, so any concerns about his heavy-handed influence are pretty far off base I suspect. While football is the cash cow of any university, Tom now has 20 other teams to worry about, plus sundry other duties as an AD. I'm sure he spends more time on football-related issues than any other specific sport, but he's not putting undue influence in there.

Nice piece in parting by Dubbs: Later down the list he mentions Lazlo's. At least he has his priorities in order.

Nobody really knows how much input Tom has in football. Everyone is guessing based on this or that clue, but for all we know Tom's involvement could be as little as saying "hi" to Bo in the hall once a week. I doubt he has much more than an advisory role, but I do know this - if I was Bo, I'd be in Tom's office every chance I got picking his brain. That experience isn't going to be there forever.

For being so unsure of yourself, you sure seem to put these opinions forth on a regular basis.

Sure Martinez got ice cold - he was a Freshman. That doesn't mean he wasn't a good QB, it just means there was bad with the good. Post-injury he was mostly a disaster, but who isn't when they're injured? Gabbert is supposed to be a high draft pick this year, but post Suh-ankle-roll he was a bag of crap last year.

Zac Lee? He's not going to get drafted. Let's be realistic. He's rated somewhere between 26-50 by most draft experts.

How could you possibly know that? You seem to be basing your assessment on whether the guy is a passing QB, and that's simply not the case. You're also not terribly accurate - Martinez, whom you dog consistently, was the 37th in the nation in Pass Efficiency in his first year. Unless you believe he's going to regress, that's a pretty good place for a guy just getting his feet wet.

The sour taste of our last two games would be the biggest factor in slow ticket sales. I would also be surprised if we didn't have an article or blog blurb or tweet from one of the local papers about ticket sales. Local reporters do read HuskerBoard, after all.

Cool. And I wasn't dogging on you, even though it looks that way. Just the general tenor of the board lately seems like there's no room for moderate opinions, everything is taken entirely one way or the other.

Because nobody else has stories about us.
