  1. I would imagine that every Christian believes in the existence of Satan. Jesus himself spoke to Satan and paid a visit to his home, so that lends quite a bit of credibility to his existence in the Christian world. Why do you ask, because I have never seen anyone doubt/deny Satan's existence in any of these discussions? How would worshiping Satan be "more credible" than worshiping God? Wouldn't it have equal credibility? It's not as if Christianity is for those without faults and/or vices - quite the contrary. Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." - Mark 2:17 Basically, being Christian admits that you have fault, that you need help, and that you cannot save yourself of your own volition. I think what you're getting at is the twisted mentality that Christians should be above these things - they aren't, usually dreadfully so. But this is why a lot of Christians catch well-deserved flak, and why the phrase "holier than thou" came to being. Instead of evincing humility some Christians act as though they are part of an exclusive, better club than non-Christians, which is silly because it's entirely opposite of what Christ tells them to do.
  2. The problem with your position is that you have zero substantive evidence to show that our offense will be anywhere near "great" this year. If you point to last year, every time our offense was even remotely good, Lee played a major role. If you're implying that we'll be better without Lee this year, what are you basing that on? You seem to want to throw Lee under the bus because he isn't Dave Humm or Turner Gill, but no QB we've had in the past decade has been, and only one has been close. We can have a fine season with Lee as our QB, and it's reasonable to assume he'll be better this year than he was in his first year starting. But if we're going to cast him to the curb based on last season's performance, we've got about half a dozen more guys to throw there with him.
  3. Yes, I'm certain that the tunnel walk was to blame for that loss.
  4. I'd like to see a Pink Out for a game in October, but the choices are Texas or Missouri, and I don't know if that would look so good for National TV. Too bad we weren't playing Baylor at home.
  5. Chris Anderson (Associate Athletic Director for Community Relations) and I talked about this a while back when I asked about a "Pink Out" for Breast Cancer Research. Her response, in part:
  6. Pretty sure we banned the last guy to start a Blackout thread.
  7. Just saw this and voted. Gomes is up 41% to 36% over the next guy. Whoever he is. Don't care. Because he's irrelevant.
  8. Agreed. Cody not getting to redshirt is probably my biggest regret of 2009.
  9. Do people still describe themselves as straight edge? That's cool. I remember when the movement first started back in the olden days of the 80s. Skating is not a crime! EDIT - and likely the guy/gal driving that vehicle is my age. Why else would you have a Husker plate celebrating S/E on a minivan? Old fart punk rockers, for the win!
  10. True. But it's all pretty much wrapped up together, isn't it?
  11. M I K E, I trust you were turning left to get your AM Starbucks, yes? Perhaps this person is an NFL fan, or perhaps that's their anniversary or child's birthday or something.
  12. Rivals insiders have been known to be as correct as many of the posters here, so that doesn't give me much hope that this is true. You've got a good point about Okafor, though. That puts a hole in my logic, doesn't it?
  13. I think if we debate this whole god/religion thing for another week or two we should have it hammered out once and for all. HuskerBoard will be famous for having solved this little pickle that has bothered Man for thousands of years.
  14. I highly... highly doubt this. If Taylor had quit , he would have been shown the door. Agreed. It's not like the cupboard is bare at QB, or so badly depleted that we HAVE TO have Martinez. He's a talent, for sure, but I imagine if he'd have pulled a stunt like this, Bo would have booted him. Martinez leaves and we still have Lee this year, two more years of Cody, a year or two of Brion Carnes after that, and a year or two of Jamal Turner after that. If Lee gets hurt this year we go to Cody, if Cody gets hurt we go to Washington and lean on the zone read and our DEF. Any way you slice it, it seems highly unlikely that we would in any way feel the need to kowtow to one QB like this. We are not hurting for talent at QB.
  15. Which is interesting, because that's what we saw with Lee last year, but so many people seem to not want to attribute this to first-year growing pains or injury or crappy O Line or any of the other things we know were going on, but rather solely to Lee's inability to run the offense. On the flip side, they seem to be willing to allow for those same growing pains this year from first-year starters Green and/or Martinez. It doesn't make a lot of sense.
  16. That's the thing that kinda makes me laugh in all of this. In a matter of a week, Taylor went from questioning his role in the offense to our rumored #1 QB? And yet people get miffed if you don't take their word as gospel, or the rumor from another guy on another board who is usually right about these kinds of things, as gospel. Anyone who's not interested in competing for their job had better transfer out of Bo's program right now. He's been up-front about that since the first recruiting contact; to suddenly expect to be given a position, whether that be #1, #2 or #3 on the depth chart, isn't thinking very clearly.
  17. This isn't exactly a video, but I'm guessing it would go here most appropriately. It's a Justin Beiber song slowed down 800x. It's surprisingly interesting, and is apparently a "web sensation." LINK PS - if you're not into electronica at all this may not be for you.
  18. I'm highly skeptical of this rumor.
  19. Remember when Suh got "injured" in the Oklahoma game last year, and had to come out for a play? Moore came in, the Sooners ran right at him, and he stonewalled the RB. I know it's just one play, but I've been saying for years that the guy has talent. There was talk (maybe just training camp motivation, maybe not) that Moore could have started alongside Suh last year around this time. He was banged up all season from what I recall.
  20. Different thread, but similar intent: http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/44456-i-am-a-bad-american/page__view__findpost__p__620408 EDIT - Olbermann was so awesome way back in the day on Sportscenter with DP. It's a crying shame what he's turned his career into.
  21. I see you've deciphered my cunning plot. Sadly, you'll have to be eliminated now. Goodbye, Mr. zoogies.
  22. This, and becoming a father myself, are two of the major reasons I can no longer consider myself Christian. Were I to give my child all the instruction she needs until she is, say, five years old, then said, "I've given you all you need to know. I'll show up again when you're about 50 years old, and if you've followed through on everything I've told you without fail and without doubt and without any kind of variance from my instructions, I'll give you your inheritance which will allow you to live any kind of life you want from then on. However, if you doubt me in the very least, you're out. If you step a toe across the line, you're out. If you dispute anything I've told you, you're out. By the way - I love you very much." It just doesn't jive with me at all. There's no way I'd remotely consider doing this. I want to have constant interaction with my girl. I want to know her, to be there with her, to go through her life with her, side by side, helping her along the way when it gets rough. There is no way I'd make her go through some crazy rigmarole like this to "prove" she loved me, before I gave her her inheritance. Not a chance in hell. If God wants us to be with Him in heaven, nothing is preventing Him from putting us there right now. He's Omnipotent, so no barrier is too great.
