This is the second straight year we're having a family reunion on the Saturday of the first game. I do not know what is wrong with these people, but I'll be missing the game. And the next week, due to other family obligations. My first live game will be the Washington game. Bugger.

This is horrible news, but the reality is that it's better that it happens now than in the season. We have two weeks to get someone up to speed with the #1s.

It'll be interesting to see how long Penn State can keep that win streak going. It's no problem being ranked behind them right now. They're just a hell of a team.

For this election cycle I think if the candidate appears to be too closely tied to Obama, they're in for it. He rode the wave of change into the White House but the promised change hasn't happened - in fact, the country is either stagnant or worse than when he took office. Whether that's his fault or not (and there are two sides to that, not debating that right now), "change" is going to get his folks ousted, and he will have to have a miracle second half to win another term.

Possibly, but that doesn't make his contributions any less worthy. It's just one of those vagaries of chance.

That's a good question. If Frost came to NU right off the bat, I have to believe he would have beaten Berringer out simply because he was more suited to the Option attack. Berringer was quite capable of running the Option, but he was more of a passer than an Option QB.

I seem to recall more buzz about Berringer than others. I recall lots of talk about how lucky we were to have two great QBs, two guys with different styles who could both lead us to wins. Frazier was always the clear-cut #1 in people's minds, but Berringer was never considered a slouch around here. He was highly regarded.

I agree. FSN broadcasts are terrible. I second that motion. We have a motion to restrict FSN from broadcasting Big 10 Championship games, and a second. All those in favor, say Aye!

That wasn't the issue. The issue was that it said, "Wear Red. Be Loud. Beat Texas." Apparently Texas Fan got all chapped because it seemed like we intended to beat them, and they find this offensive. Nonetheless, still seems like we are "calling" them out again. IMO We're not, we do this every year (Alumni Game), but for whatever reason the OWH decided to make a website out of it. They'll probably do it for the Ohio State game next year. But... So what if we were calling Texas out? You do realize we intend to beat them, right? It's not like we're going into our schedule this year thinking, "We'll try to beat every team, except we'll just hope to play well against Texas."

I don't think you can boil this down to one thing that is "most important," because that changes from election to election, sometimes day to day, and certainly from region to region. The country as a whole has varying needs based on the day, the election year, the era. This is a really hard, if not impossible, question to answer.
