  1. They can key on Helu all they want. It's not going to help them if they can't stop a Nevada team that could barely rush the ball against Colorado St. If you're putting this game in the hands of Helu and our O Line, I love our chances. The Missouri D Line was getting pushed backwards all game long by an average Nevada O Line. Surely you saw this? Frankly, Lee wouldn't have to throw the ball at all and we'd still be in the game, the way Missouri looked tonight. But the Missouri secondary isn't that great, that's the problem. Furman passed for 300 yards on them. Furman! People were blowing a gasket that we gave up 358 yards to FAU - FAU is a Division 1A school!
  2. MU has about 1,200 yards passing through four games, or about 300 per game. Nebraska has about 260 yards passing per game through three games. I'd say our passing offenses are pretty comparable. MU is averaging about 150 yards rushing per game. Roy Helu is averaging nearly 130 yards per game by himself.
  3. How did you come up with that from this game? Nevada was blowing coverage all night. WRs were running free all night, and Gabbert was chased down two times by LBs slower than anything he's going to see in the Big 12 two times that I saw. You have to be basing these statements on a different game than I just watched. Your last comment about taking care of business tomorrow - absolutely. We gotta beat the Cajuns or all of this talk about October 8 that I'm seeing is completely moot.
  4. One guy, one group of guys, one carload of guys wearing Husker gear painting "Sal is dead, Go Big Red" doesn't make the entirety of our fan base bad. The SI article paints the Huskers in a really poor light, putting that line at the feet of our players and fans, when I can just about guarantee you that the whole football team and the vast majority of our fans would have kicked the hell out of any "Husker fan" we caught making that sign. That's what's really stupid about the whole thing. Presuming it happened, it's about 180 degrees opposite of what our team is about.
  5. Maybe it was just me the other day, but it seemed like you were pretty angry at a guy whose biggest claim to fame for us is his coaching of a conference opponent.
  6. It's not just his youth - Gabbert is slow. He was chased down twice by linebackers who aren't nearly as fast as what he'll face in the Big 12, and on that run down by the goal line he looked slow, confused and hesitant.
  7. Honestly? Some really ugly play, bailed out by some really bad calls by the refs, some really boneheaded defensive plays by Nevada, and Gabbert looking slow of foot yet still benefiting from horrible pass coverage.
  8. Some perspective: Nevada rushing yards by game: Notre Dame - 153 Colorado St. - 169 Missouri - 219 I wonder if Helu watched this game, and if so, how often he laughed.
  9. I wait with bated breath the spin our Missouri friends will put on this game. This should be epic.
  10. This is the kind of game you win and wake up to find yourselves unranked the following Sunday. Ugly game against a weak opponent.
  11. What. The. Heck. How is this even a game? What is Missouri doing? Baffling. Here's the deal - FAU and Arkansas State each had a couple of good guys on defense, surrounded by average joes. Yeah, Weatherspoon looks as-advertised.... but where is the rest of the Missouri D? We absolutely need this team to be ranked. They had better blow the Wolfpack out in the second half. Freakin' Missouri.
  12. I'm now officially questioning your football acumen. I'm also wondering if you even watched the VT game. I'll give you a pass on our PPV Sunbelt games, but even then all you have to do is watch Big XII No Huddle on FOX and you can pick up the highlights. Let me help you out where I see some problems... Missouri - I appreciate your Tiger-aid drinking, I really do, but you have zero evidence that your Tigers will triumph. Your SOS is 111th in the nation (Sagarin) compared to Nebraska's 73rd. The toughest team MU has played is Bowling Green, whom the Tigers needed a desperate comeback to beat at home. BG is ranked 77th in the nation by Sagarin. From this you draw the conclusion that your season will "really start" October 8th. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but this is pure kool-aid. Texas Tech - Again, zero evidence to support a loss for Nebraska. As well as we played them last year, on their turf, with better players on the Tech squad and our defense still learning the system, giving them this win is not supported by what evidence we have. It will be a difficult game - they did play Texas tough at Texas. But even with our DEF learning the system on the fly last year Nebraska held the Red Raider passing attack to fewer yards and points than Texas, and that was even playing an overtime period. Baylor - You cite Mizzou's struggle with Baylor last year. What of it? We're talking Nebraska, not Missouri. Last year Nebraska held Griffin to fewer yards and points than Missouri. Sure you struggled with him. We didn't. We contained him last year. You didn't. And the difference is, your team was playing their long-established defense, while ours was, again, learning on the job. Kansas - I fully realize the Huskers could lose this game. However, the advantage Nebraska has over the Jayhawks is line superiority. Reesing is easily the most dangerous QB in the North, but last season wasn't as close as the score indicated, as our DEF really began warming up to the system and playing solid football. Without a late TD in 2008 Nebraska wins this game by 17, hardly evidence that Kansas is going to win. That's four losses I have solid evidence to dispute, not just opinion.
  13. I think we would beat VT 4 out of 5 if we played them 5 more times.. Anyone who actually watched the game would probably agree. We grew up a lot during that game. Sometimes you work and you're not rewarded for it. Or sometimes the reward shows up later. That's what I think will come of the VT game. That whole team knows they should have won the game, that they played well enough to win the game, but that little things kept them from winning.
  14. Gator Bowl Ganz would probably have won the VT game. But comparing Lee to Gator Bowl Ganz is unfair. Compare him to Colorado 2007 and it's a little more fair.
  15. You're either being deliberately obtuse with this vein of questioning or you have no idea what was going on in the Husker program when we played last year.
  16. Not so much, although this is the dilemma Nebraska had for about 40 years heading into games like this. Sucks, doesn't it? If Missouri wins like 35-10 or something like that, a multiple-TD win, I'd be satisfied. Of course it all depends on how awful Nevada looks and/or how good MU looks. It's all subjective, but frankly, I just want you guys to come out of this with a W. I don't care if it's by one point.
  17. You would be very much alone in this belief.
  18. One question I have for Missouri fans is "do you think that the score from last year carries over to this year?" Last I checked the game still starts at 0-0. What?!! You mean it doesnt work like the stages in a bike race?? So we dont get like a 40 pt headstart??? Well CRAP!! I need to call my bookie....that 45pt spread he offered me doesnt look quite as good now If it did carry over, Nebraska would have something like an 800-point lead in the series.
  19. No. Illinois is a weak team playing in one of the weakest conferences. You're basically saying that the Colorado vs. Colorado St. game was a "big game" because it's a rivalry. It's not a big game to anyone but Buffs and Rams fans. Same goes for MU/ILL - nobody cares about this game but your two schools. Just because it's the "biggest" game on your non-con schedule doesn't mean it's a "big game."
  20. If all you took from the NE/VT game was that Nebraska lost, then you're going to have an awfully rude awakening October 8th. Yeah, we lost. Focus on that.
  21. Just think - if you were a Husker fan, you could have celebrated about 35 of those kinds of victories over the past few decades.
  22. And just think, Missouri earned another 11 victories after that one since the streak started. In 47 years.
  23. Hearing good things about Dillard from this morning's breakfast. Papuchis had this to say about P-Dilly: Plenty of good stuff from the breakfast in Rosenthal's article.
  24. Twit Split As in, "That twit Witt split and I don't give a s__t."
