  1. The Hokies will have to play stingy defense and pound the ball with their running game. And they have to stop trying to make Taylor a pocket passer. He's not, and he's far more effective in the open field.
  2. I don't get the angst over rooting for Missouri. We need every team we play to be as highly ranked as possible, so when we win it looks good. That's pretty easy math.
  3. about two hours or less to game time 1 hour seems to be pretty good or last 15 minutes but if you haunt the higher priced hotels you may find people who have extra tixs and many if you tell them your story will not scalp just take face value also look on Omaha and Lincoln Craigs list Go to the track on the northeast corner of the stadium and check out the Fan Experience. Then with about an hour to go before the game, make your way over to the west side of the stadium and go along the fence next to the TD club, and hold up your fingers in the traditional "need two tickets" sign. You'll have a fine time. Even if you don't get tickets, just being in the atmosphere would be pretty cool. I'm thinking of heading down to the stadium for the Oklahoma game. Even if I don't get tickets, I'll tailgate with someone or something. There's always Barry's.
  4. Ali Baba's is a gyro joint at 14th & O. Good food.
  5. I would say your odds are pretty good, especially if you go to the Touchdown Club on the west side of the stadium. I've gotten face value tickets there several times. You'll probably have to pay $110, though. I believe tickets are $55.
  6. People start new threads any time an idea pops into their head. They never seem to bother glancing on the front page, even. There was a time in the week or two before the season started that we had four different Cody Green threads on the front page, three of them within the first 15 topics. Apparently a lot of computers these days don't come with the Control+F function. I have a novel concept, don't read them then. Who says I do? Still doesn't change the fact that people could be more circumspect about their posting. But whatever.
  7. You're probably right. In 2010 our OOC schedule is weaker than Florida's. But that's one year out of the last, say, 20, that this is true. And it's still Pedey's fault. I'll gas up the Winnebago and you and me can go to Pitt and give ol' Pedey a noogie. Whattaya say?
  8. Completely agree. I would love to see these guys on our schedule, and I think most everyone else would agree as well. It's not traditionally done, and most of those schools aren't jumping at the chance to come to Lincoln and take a beating (or Missouri, or Texas, or Oklahoma, or wherever), especially if they've already got one decent team on their schedule. Most schools harbor the same notion - that there are 80-ish really crummy schools out there that we can take a win against, plus make some cash on attendance, so why not schedule them? Also, you've got the Steve Pedersons of the world who hire a bad coach (or at least, a bad fit), and they need to schedule some cupcakes so their bad hire doesn't look so bad. CYA, you know. That happens a lot, too.
  9. So go sue Steve Pederson. Can you change that schedule? Can we? Even if Washington is ranked, the rest of the non-con sucks. Nobody is going to argue that. But there's nothing you can do about it, so whining about it isn't going to help.
  10. This is the same FSU who have posted seasons with 5, 6, 6 & 4 losses in the past four years. Are they better than Idaho, SDSU & W. Kentucky? Sure. But those FSU teams of the past four years haven't been better than Washington figures to be next season.

  12. You can thank Steve Pederson for this schedule. Although, this is still a tougher OOC schedule than Florida plays... ever. And they never leave the South. And they rarely play non-cons vs. any team outside the state of Florida. Not that this makes our schedule any better, but in context it's not the worst non-con out there.
  13. I have no problem rooting for Mizzou. I just hope they win. This could be a trap game for them.
  14. After watching Washington beat USC last Saturday, our 2010 OOC schedule looks a little better. Could be a battle of ranked teams, if Washington continues to impress.
  15. I don't think anyone is saying we can't talk about the game. We'll be talking about this game all season, maybe even next year. We'll talk about it when we travel to Washington next year, I'm sure.
  16. Lots of dead horse beating here. I expect this to be a turn-the-corner game for us. We're doing a lot of looking behind us - missing Castille, lingering Callahan-era attitude, etc. From this loss I expect the team to take the fact that they can beat tough teams, even on the road. We'll look back on this game, and the questions that come from it, as reasons why we're returning to respectability. Book it.
  17. I just hope he doesn't go pro after the season.
  18. There were probably 20 different things we could have done, or tried. Agonizing over every one of them isn't going to make us feel better. We got beat on a fluke play, on a day when we dominated a good opponent in their house for 95% of the game. It happens. Football isn't fair. It can be cruel and it can be heartbreaking. But you have to have a short memory as a player and a fan, and go back out and play/cheer hard against your next opponent.
  19. I doubt we see Lee much, too. There's no reason to risk him, especially if he's already banged up. And the experience will do Green a world of good.
  20. You heard Lee's hand was off at the wrist, right? That's all you need to know at this point. Well, that and the fact that they're putting a bionic hand in place on Wednesday. So you can probably skip these threads until Thursday so you can find out how the new appendage is healing. And remember - don't flame the rumor providers. We're providing a service.
  21. You're probably right. We should probably just take every rumor at face value from now on. That seems like a prudent way to go.
  22. Let's put it this way. Right here is a line. And on this side of it, we're not throwing O'Hanlon under the bus for this. Pick your side. ____________________________________________________________________________
  23. On a fumble, that's the rule. If the player contacts the ground, and that contact causes the fumble, it's not a fumble. But on a catch, the player MUST maintain complete possession until his body stops moving, after impacting the ground. So it doesn't matter, according to this rule, that Holt caught and secured the ball. Once it pops out, it's an incompletion. What's stupid about that is, with that exact same grip Holt could have run for 80 yards. Had he not caught it diving out the back of the end zone, it would have been a completion. If the ground can't cause a fumble while running, it shouldn't cause an incompletion, either. Holt clearly received the ball and tucked it, but that's not good enough for this rule. There are situations where this rule has an application. This shouldn't be one of them.
