  1. One would think a medical professional would know it's HIPAA, not "HIPPA." It stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Aside from that I agree that it's likely not illegal for this discussion. It may not be the most moral thing to do, but then again, if Burkes himself came out with the info it is no longer protected in any way by HIPAA.
  2. Let me know when you move out of mom's house and you can talk.
  3. Not odd at all. This happens just about everywhere when a new coach takes over. If anything is odd, it's that there have been fewer changes since Pelini took over than is the norm. We lost a bunch of kids when Callahan took over for Solich, if you recall.
  4. In my heart there is a dark little creature that laughed evilly when I read that. Nine days until Fall drills begin. 37 days until opening kickoff.
  5. Good breakdown. Thanks. And good luck with your recruiting.
  6. You may want to try actually reading what I'm saying, then. I have never said we don't have problems, and I have never said we don't have fans who do stupid things. I have said, several times, that I believe the urine bombs and the "Sal is Dead" and the death threat to Cosgrove and the other boorish behavior from our fans happened. The difference is, I'm not willing to throw you and me and every other Husker fan under the bus because of the actions of a tiny fraction of our fan base. Hence the state pen analogy. You're welcome to believe that the Internet is different from the real world. You're welcome to believe that things said here don't affect you out there. But then you're welcome to believe in the tooth fairy, too.
  7. Speed on a track is very different than football speed - in-game speed on the field. It doesn't matter all that much to me what he ran during conditioning. Can he run around, over, through or away from the defenders? That's all I care about.
  8. OJ wasn't convicted of Nicole's murder, junior. He got off, and do you remember why? I'll give you a hint - it has to do with allegations... and lack of evidence.... ring any bells? Could you have picked a less apt analogy for your point? I doubt it. But thanks for the laugh once again. And how telling that you associate OJ with Husker fans. We all get that you look down on Husker fans by now, junior. You're not breaking new ground here. I'm curious. Why do you associate yourself with a team like Nebraska when you so clearly don't get what they're about, and what they strive to be?
  9. With all the variables of guys coming out vs. team need, this is probably a pretty safe bet.
  10. Congrats on the boys, BRI. Hope everything is going well for you.
  11. Again tilting at windmills. Nobody ever said we have no bad fans. We all know all about the idiots who wear red. The difference is, you choose to flagellate yourself over the behavior of people whose actions you find abhorrent. I, and pretty much everyone else, choose not to do that. It's as simple as that.
  12. If we lose do we have to disband the football team or something?
  13. What about the five other teams in the North whose fans don't travel like Husker fans? There's still a competitive disadvantage for them, right? Personally, if you can't get your fan base to travel to the Conference Championship game to see your team earn a BCS Bowl berth, too bad for your team. Although I think that Kansas, Missouri, Kansas State, and Colorado would travel well if they have a good enough season. It's called a bandwagon. They never have before.
  14. What about the five other teams in the North whose fans don't travel like Husker fans? There's still a competitive disadvantage for them, right?
  15. Is that rule no longer in effect? Because on that play, Thunder Collins was still moving when the ball was snapped, right? Same deal with Zac Taylor's walk-off-the-field fake against CU in '06....what happened with this rule, how come it got (apparently?) reversed? You should not take ESPN's blurb about this as the actual definition/use of the rule. I would look up the actual rule if I were you. Clearly this simple definition provided by ESPN is not the way motion functions in the game today.
  16. So if I were a guy and had these strong opinions, based on solid reasoning, facts and I were to articulate my opinions that would be welcome. However, since I'm a woman and I have strong, fact based, well-thought out articulated opinions I'm nothing more than a bitch...right? I would hope you don't think this is true. Aside from the "we don't know if you're a guy or girl" comment (which I agree with), I would hope you're not feeling like you're being taken less seriously because you're a girl. Pretty much everyone here gets questioned once in a while, if not more often, and I would figure you'd have seen that. I don't care if you're a guy or a girl. Just keep the comments coming. You're a good read.
  17. Icy cold wind, frozen fields, knocking the ice off your facemask between games - this is what football is about. This is why they don't play football in the summertime - it's a cold weather sport. Pansies.
  18. Yes, that has to happen, but shouldn't we build on our strengths at the same time? It's kind of a chicken and egg thing - if the line plays outstanding, the LBs and DBs will look better. If the LBs and DBs play outstanding then the line will look better. I think we're going to see marked improvement everywhere by the middle of the season, with flashes and glimpses here and there to start. It'll take the young LB corps some time to get going, but with a solid line in front of them I don't think we'll be displeased with what we see to start.
  19. You did direct this at me, though. You did crack on my football team. Note the use of my nym, and the pronouns that identify me. I don't think that's all that unclear. Pointing out the scores of those games, "laughing" about them, is cracking on my team. I question why you bother to "joke" as well. You're apparently not very good at it, or at least this wasn't one of your best efforts. I've enjoyed your posts about 99% of the time here. You have good knowledge and you're not (typically) disrespectful. This really caught me the wrong way, intended or not. I'm willing to chalk this up to a misunderstanding. I'll take you at your word that you were joking, and that I took it the wrong way. To help clods like me in the future, if you could be maybe a little more obvious about your jokes, that would probably stop this kind of thing, at least on my end. Cheers. I Hope this means we're able to "crack on" each other again! What is your point? Seriously?...So a tree falling in the woods without witness does NOT make a sound? Now, I'm gonna be up all night wonderin' if the light goes out in the fridge after I close the door. And all these years...I never knew what the signifigance of tipping over windmills was...now COWS..I get. Very seriously. And if you don't understand the significance of evidence in an allegation, you may want to crack open a book. Or two.
  20. If you know something, out with it. You're not helping anyone with innuendo. Either AC is the kind of guy we want on the team or he isn't. If he's not, then let us know. If you've got nothing, then don't make stuff up. I'm guessing you know stuff. I'm guessing you're right. But without facts, all you're doing is essentially slandering the guy, and that doesn't do anyone any good. I appreciate the info, I really do. But half a story is worthless.
  21. Was he doubled more toward the end of the season? Did his production go down or stay relatively consistent? Just asking - I am really curious. That is something I do not know (the double-team question). As for his stats, they remained consistent through the season, with a huge game against Kansas and another against Clemson. Here's a link to his ESPN page: http://espndb.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=175300
  22. Agreed. I liked what I saw from Allen last year, tossed into the deep end when he was probably expecting to get a little PT here and there. He played well under the circumstances. He ended up with four or five sacks, as I recall. The great thing about our line is, we're legit two-deep. We have guys backing up Turner, Crick, Suh and Allen who won't let the level drop - Moore and Steinkuhler in the middle and Cameron Meredith and Josh Williams on the ends. This is the deepest D-Line we've had in years, and maybe the most talented since 1999. I expect great things out of these guys. And by "great things" I mean destruction and dismay in the offensive backfield.
  23. If you could find the quote where that was said in this thread, I'd be interested. I must have missed that part.
  24. Ndamukong Suh was doubled most of last year and still led the team in tackles and sacks, so I don't think the double-teams he'll see this year will take him out of many games. It's hard to say that one guy is "the key" to the defense. It's not like on offense where one player can shoulder the load. If there is one guy on defense, it would be Suh. But really, the whole line has to step up big this year because of exactly what you said - the youth at LB this year and the shaky play of the DBs last year. Allen, Crick and Turner will need to step up, big-time.
