  1. It begins with "T" and ends with "E" and it isn't Trombone.
  2. It's ok, knapplc likes to belittle the people who don't agree with his opinion or offer an alternate opinion. Only those who earn it. You'll notice I did not belittle secretasianman in the least. He presented a good, well-thought-out argument. I disagreed and asked him to explain his thinking in light of a couple of points I brought up. The only times I have deigned to speak down to anyone is when they have belittled what Huskerdom is all about in the first place. It's like when a coach goes into halftime with a team that is underperforming. They should know better, but they don't play like they're capable of playing. What's that coach supposed to do, hold their hands and cuddle with them? Heck no! He's going to break his foot off in their a$$, chew them out, and whip them into shape. And if they still don't respond, he's going to do it again, and again, and again. Do you think Bob Devany had a box of tissues in his locker room for the guys at halftime? If I'm wrong, prove that I'm wrong. Don't cry that I'm "belittling" people, show where I've said something wrong or made mistakes. Husker Nation used to be tough. HUSKER POWER!!! Remember that? Now we've been infiltrated by the hand-holders, and I can't stand it. I'm fully willing to be friendly, and I'd sit down with you and have a beer, Dan, but while we're talking I'm still going to challenge you on your beliefs, just like you'd challenge me. I can defend mine, believe me. I don't think it's wrong to expect you (or anyone else) to defend theirs. If it doesn't hold up to scrutiny, that probably means it wasn't much of a belief in the first place.
  3. I get the impression that they simply do not care. With all of the calls, comments and emails they've gotten from this thread alone, if they really cared they would have already made the change. The facts are easy to check. There's just no excuse for it.
  4. Just voted (on this computer). Still tied at 44%.
  5. TO currently leads 38% to 33%. Keep voting!
  6. That was under Pedersons rule that these restrictions with past players and staff come about. So you're saying Callahan will embrace past Huskers now that Pederson is gone? What has Callahan done to make you believe that?
  7. TO's street cred worked out well the first time with Solich. Oh wait... Even after that debacle he still has plenty. You want to throw TO under the bus because Solich couldn't get it done? Go ahead. He's earned more respect from me than from you then.
  8. Your complete lack of understanding of college football is astounding, the more so since you spend so much time on these boards. You're blaming the poor defense on Ruud and Bowman? You have no freaking clue what you're talking about. These guys never had a chance with the dunderheaded DC we've had here. This is the guy who defends Callahan - the guy who hasn't got a clue what's been going wrong here the last four years. Funny enough, that makes perfect sense. The clueless defending the clueless.
  9. Last time I looked Steve Pederson had never coached a team to 25 straight years of no worse than 9 wins, won with three national titles and a few conference titles, all the while setting the mark for the nicest coach in all of college football. Had he done that, maybe Pederson would have had a bit more leeway. Tom Osborne's Street Cred >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Steve Pederson's Street Cred You're comparing apples and dirt clods, Hanc.
  10. I am consistently amazed that the blind Callahan supporters do not recognize a man who has no idea what being a Husker is all about. Think of the level of alienation our past great players and coaches are feeling towards this program under Callahan's rule. This is all Callahan's doing, and you want to give him more time? Why? secretasianman, every single thing you said could be said about any other coach in the nation. All you did was prove there is nothing special about Bill Callahan. Do you even realize that? So you want to give him another year or two? Why? So he can drive even more longtime supporters away? So he can destroy even more records? So he can set Nebraska football even further behind? I really, really don't get all the love for Bill Callahan. What has he added to this program? What? Can anyone tell me that?
  11. So lemme get this straight... in a day and age where telephones are so common nearly every man, woman and child (rollin' in the aisles, of course) has one strapped to their body somewhere, Bo can't call Lincoln, he has to take a two hour flight from Red Stick up here to Lincoln, never leave the plane that sits on the tarmac for two more hours, then fly back to Red Stick for another two hours (that's six hours total for those of you who aren't that great at math), for a conversation he could have had over the phone? Seriously, what color are the skies in the world you live in?
  12. Two words: Chicago. Bears. And then after the Bears, the Packers have a lot of class and are a good team. And you can't go wrong with the Steelers, either. But seriously - root for the Bears.
  13. He was on watch lists, that's about all I remember.
  14. That's true - aside from a few plays here and there, his season has not been anything special. What I was really getting at was Freemason's continued ridiculous comments, and you agreed so I lumped your quote in with his.
  15. I've got to agree with this...never really been a fan of 51, to me it's more a name thing. Throw on top of that Q getting out of here and we should be in much better shape. If Ruud is the problem, how did he win a starter's job this year? Coulda sworn Kevin Cosgrove, Callahan's long-time friend, is the guy who put him in that spot. If he wasn't producing as much as possible (and as much as ANYONE on that defense) he wouldn't be in that position. Your allegations against Ruud are without merit. He is playing no worse than anyone else on D, and at times far, far better.
  16. As the self-appointed representative of all things goofy, I hereby forgive you, newearth.
  17. WOW!! THAT WOULD JUST ABOUT GET YOU FIRED FROM ANY POSITION, EITHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE. AND YOU WOULD DESERVE IT. DO YOU EXPECT DINNER ON THE TABLE WHEN YOU GET HOME, TOO? I'LL BET YOU GET YOUR WIFE A NICE FRYING PAN FOR CHRISTMAS, YOU ROMANTIC DEVIL!!
  18. If you look at the stats Joe should win without question. But the national implications of what Juice did were pretty amazing. That's going to get him the win. It's 57% to 19% in favor of Juice right now.
  19. I'd like to wave my magic wand and have these numbers to compare: * The number of people who thought Keller was far and away superior to Ganz in August. * The number of people (same or different from the above) who think Keller has no chance in the NFL. Nobody's crystal ball works every time. We may not be able to make a success/bust conclusion on him NFL-wise for years and years because of the way he's going to start his NFL career (broken clavicle = slow start). I remember a few years ago watching Drew "They Beat Him Till He" Bledsoe run the Patriots offense, until he got hurt and they had to bring in some unheralded backup. Turns out Tom Brady ain't half so bad as all those people were thinking back then. Kind of like Joe Ganz today. Maybe kind of like Sam Keller in the NFL? Who knows.
  20. Really glad you had such a good time. If you ate and drank in the Haymarket, PLEASE tell me you went to Lazlo's!!!!
  21. A LOT of people were wrong about Joe. I was at the Spring Game and sat right on top of Sam and Joe as they warmed up in the northwest corner. I watched all their throws, I had pretty good seats for most of the plays, and especially Ganz' TD scramble. I came away seeing Keller throwing at receivers before they made their cuts, while Joe threw as they made them or after. Knowing how crucial timing is to all the passes in the WCO, I was not impressed with Joe's timing. Further, and this is still true right now, Keller's arm is far stronger than Joe's. Was then, is today. Finally, on that TD scramble Joe ran in that everyone was so ga-ga about, not one but two defenders had clean shots at Joe but pulled up because of his green jersey. So overall at that game I was not terribly impressed with Joe. He was certainly not bad, but he wasn't in my mind better than Keller. So I was cool with Keller as our QB. Now, fast-forward to the last three games, and there is NO denying Joe's ability to get the most out of his offense. We just seem different with him at the helm. The team responded OK to Sam, but it looks like they'll follow Joe through a brick wall. That's the main difference I can see. Well, that and Joe's ability to scramble, which extends plays. That makes coverage downfield so tough, and he's got good vision and can get the ball to the receivers when they get open. That's so tough to defend. I was not against Joe as our QB, but with all the circumstances surrounding Keller and with what I saw at the Spring Game, it seemed inevitable that Keller would get the job. I understood it, and I was cool with it. But I'm glad that we get to see these two play. I wish it was under different circumstances, though.
  22. Don't waste your time. He is obviously far superior to ilk like us. He talks down to us as if it is too technical for us to understand. You could say the same thing about knapplc... I'm not the one calling Husker Fans "bad fans," diehard. Kind of a key difference there.
  23. That's actually my favorite thing about Callahan. I quite enjoy the "trickeration." I really, really hope he pulls off some crazy plays against CU. They're a lot of fun to watch, even if they don't work.
