  1. Just a guess, but I imagine CU fans are hoping UT stays out of Pac. They are finally where they want to be and would be bummed to continue trips to Lubbock and Stillwater over Berkeley and LA.
  2. I think MU will get into Big 10. The expansion has just slowed, that's all. I think Delany wants to figure out ND and add a team that complements them. If ND accepts Big 10 invitation then it's 50-50 for mizzou. If ND looks to never accept then MU's chances increase.
  3. Looks like A&M has their finger on the grenade pin now? They could weaken the conference even further. Texas politicians have no influence over NU, but it will get interesting if the Aggies try to split. UT will eventually be left in a conference with ISU, KU, KSU and Baylor. Play everybody twice, all games involving UT played in Austin with UT alums as refs. All television revenue belongs to Texas. Other schools get half of the gate (even games played on their campus against non UT teams). Other half paid to Texas as a fee to be in conference.
  4. Wisconsin's rivalries now are Minnesota and Iowa. It isn't hard to figure why Bielema would do this. His program is already at the level, or above, what is necessary to play with those two schools. Without any extra effort, he can excite a fan base, motivate his players and make it a bit easier to recruit (due to that excitement). Teams should be lined up.
  5. it's all of those damn Northwestern "upsets."
  6. I believe that after seeing us roll over for them (Texas) when the league was formed, they thought we would be the nice guy and not hurt the Big 12 by leaving. Was nice to see TO and Perlman play hard ball.
  7. It's Texas really. They are no longer allowed to pull our chain, so they have moved on to a national tv network. I'm quite sure they are enjoying the attention. Joe Schad is being made to look stupid.
  8. I was pretty sure we'd find out that WE started the process well before other teams threatened to ''look around.'' And people question our loyalty to the conference. I'm a bit disappointed that TO and Perlman weren't looking out for us a little better, especially with our dissatisfaction with the 12. Oh well, it happened anyway.
  9. Why would baseball have to worry? The Big Ten plays baseball....and I don't see Nebraska pulling it. Besides, there will be more money in the Big Ten, remember, which will give more money to athletics also. It was in reference to how bad we have become. It was mostly a joke. I believe we would have to drop one men's sport to take up hockey.
  10. In the end, I think the Big 12 stays together. Texas will not go where they are not the big fish. They will add two teams and the Pac will add Utah. However, if they do end up having to go they won't be happy going. They will try and make it seem like it is the place to be, but I won't be fooled.
  11. Really? You think we've already forgotten the last time we played Wisconsin?
  12. I've been wishing for this for a while. Where would the rink be? Convert Devaney? I thought we had plans for ice, but not with the required seating. They break ground on that yet? The new arena would be perfect, but they better act fast so they don't have to retrofit 2 years down the road. I imagine they would have to drop a sport to add hockey. Ok, I pick golf. That's only a game anyway. Baseball better be careful though.
  13. We are now their biggest ally in their quest for Big 10 inclusion. I don't know how much say we have as brand new members, but I'm guessing Missouri is talking to us.
  14. This really didn't have as much to do with athletics as it did academics. Athletically I'm not terribly excited about the move. It just got a little harder to have a great football team. What it does for the school is staggering. We aren't anymore a Pac 10 school than Wisconsin is. That would just be weird. I don't think the teams that are being forced to scramble for a Pac 10 spot are happy to be doing it. It is just the best option left.
  15. See?! Nothing but arrogance. "I won't go there. I'll wait for you to come here. Bring me the head of a fattened calf!" Damn! I had just started celebrating the likelihood of KU and MU fans not arguing on the board anymore.
  16. On second thought, I just remembered how bad those PPV broadcasts are.
  17. $30 is chicken feed. TV is an underrated medium in that respect. If there were no such thing as tv and someone told you they could provide you with a large box in your living room that would show you the game from many angles and give you replays of most plays with scores and highlights from games around the country, you'd gladly hand the guy $30. We are spoiled with all of the games we get for not much $$.
  18. All I know is it better happen sometime or we will look pretty stupid.
  19. Of course, when I say we may have looked at the Big 10 before they looked at us, I wasn't saying the CCG had anything to do with it. The Big 10 (possible) move is great for the school. Not so sure about football though.
  20. CU has wanted to go to the Pac 10 forever. When the whole story about this is made public, I will not be surprised if we find out NU started the talk of Big 10 expansion by inquiring about joining. Not the other way around with the Big 10 looking to expand and us deciding it would be a good fit.
  21. Actually, we haven't gone anywhere yet and that ship has sailed. I guess they could move Missouri vs Nebraska to that spot. That is should we stay in the Twelve.
  22. Those people were just talking about the football. Compared to the Big 12, you might still be able to argue that. I would never want to leave the Big 12 for the Big 10 for the sports. I don't think we would even consider the jump if the academics were the same. Even with the $22 million payday we'd stay put. We'd be working with the rest of our Big 12 brothers to improve our tv situation. Of course Texas keeps that from happening. What makes this a no-brainer is what it does for the institution as a whole. We will be a Big 10 school and that does mean something. We will attract better students and have richer alumni who will give larger amounts back to the school. Not to mention the $$ we get for research. Leaving for the sports would reek of jealousy of UT. I think that making the move to the Big 10 is sacrificing on the athletic side for what it will do for the state and university as a whole. I am not really looking forward to our games with Purdue and Indiana.
