  1. Yeah...When I was reading Gaz's profile, I was thinking about how worried everybody was about losing Blaine Gabbert. Somehow that doesn't seem like that big a deal anymore. Joe is playing lights out now but Blaine Gabbert is something special. That is 2 top qbs gone. Josh Freeman now Gabbert, are the coachs really that good at recruiting? Actually, we only lost Gabbert because the coaches are leaving. If Callahan and co. were staying, we'd still have Gabbert.
  2. Even if it was Osborne who was targeted I wouldn't feel compelled to contact him and inform him that not all Nebraska fans are death-threat terrorists like that one. I guess I just assume that coaches at major schools would already know this. If we're using that logic, then some of us have a lot of Iraqis to email telling them that not all Americans agreed with the invasion of their country. I find it funny that those who are saying that Nebraska fans should contact Coz and either apologize or tell him that we're not all terrorists are acting as if not contacting Coz is tantamount to endorsing the terrorist.
  3. Good point. But I think Rece Davis is one of the better ones.
  4. And notice who's schedule is ranked #117 out of #120 - those mighty Jayhawks. I'm sure their ranking will rise quite a bit after playing Mizzou and (if they win) Oklahoma, but how can they be ranked that far ahead of Hawaii in the BSC poll if only two slots separate them in the SOS? Sorry, I know this belongs in another thread.
  5. If you're going to rip this guy's post, then at least be "classy" enough to represent what he said accurately. He never said "if Coz doesn't like getting death threats he can go bag fries." He said that he can go bag fries if he can't take the fans' criticism. Then he said, "Death threats are NOT acceptable and low class. Hopefully they figure out who the dumbazz is." We can all defeat "straw man" arguments that nobody is making. But let's give each other the respect of at least representing their comments accurately before ripping them.
  6. Great post, REDSTEEL. It's not that Callahan hasn't done anything good, but even those best things accomplished in the Callahan era have to be tempered and placed in proper context.
  7. Then why don't you enlighten all of us as to where that imaginary line is. If I say Coz should switch up his defensive scheme or blitz more, am I pushing the line toward death threats? Go read through the "'Breaking News'...Just on KETV Channel 7, Omaha" thread. Nobody here is doing anything close to supporting death threats or terrorizing him or his family. Perhaps the "line" you should be more concerned about identifying is the line between being a thoughtful member of Husker Nation and a fanatic fringe that misconstrues everything for which we stand. Asking all Nebraska fans to apologize for the extremist fringe's fanaticism is like asking all Muslims to apologize for 9/11.
  8. Why stop there? Hillary becomes president. Bush and Mitt Romney lead the entire Bible Belt and Utah against the rest of the nation in the Second Civil War. Armageddon ensues. Jesus returns, wearing a "Restore the Order" t-shirt. Bill Callahan calls a press conference in which he says he's really happy that Jesus took Callahan's advice and followed his system for saving the world. Take that to the bank.
  9. I saw a special report on TMZ that Glenn and "I Bleed Red" have been vacationing together in the Bahamas since mid-October. That explains a lot.
  10. It's all in the 'fro...but thanks for your input Daniel Dykes Ruth Buzzi (from Laugh-In)
  11. R.J. Brown That gay guy from "Six Feet Under"
  12. That's it. They wouldn't even bothering to put out a release for clarification if the axe wasn't falling after Colorado. I think this also says- there is a coach in the wings and they want to shore up the recruiting class ASAP... I don't know that another coach is already waiting in the wings, especially now with the high possibility of Carr leaving Michigan. This affects a lot of teams that are or will be looking for a new coach because Les Miles likely would go to Michigan. Then the question is: who does LSU want? If they want Pelini, then that might affect Nebraska and/or Texas A&M. My guess is that nobody has agreed to the job yet.
  13. Paul Johnson, another supposed Nebraska HC candidate, had a terrible Saturday as well. Navy beat North Texas 74-62. Coz must be pulling double duty these days!
  14. I don't have a problem at all with Callahan trying to defend himself. I'd rather have that than his typical BS coach talk. The problem I have is that after Joe Ganz comes out and has (statistically) the best game of any QB in Nebraska history, Callahan chooses to come out and basically say Ganz (as well as Taylor and Keller) is just a product of Callahan's system. Even if that's true, that's a complete dick move. So what if Ganz is just a system QB? Does that mean that Callahan's system is a good college system? No. The problem with Callahan's system is that it takes QBs so long to get it down and effective. It took Taylor time to figure out how to work the offense, Keller has been very inconsistent this year in spite of his amazing arm (and amazing history at ASU), and it must have taken Ganz four years to get the system down for a Keller injury late in the year to be the only thing that got Ganz a sniff of a real game. I stand by that old critique of Callahan's system that it is made for the NFL because in the pros you don't have such a high turnover in QBs as you do in college.
  15. If you listen to the full interview you'll hear perhaps the most shocking part of his statement. He said that he's built something like what they're doing at Texas Tech. Texas Tech!!! No sh!t our team is now like Texas Tech- first team to 70 wins. How does this guy think that Husker Nation will actually be okay with trying to be like Texas Tech???? I know, he's talking to his potential future employers, not Husker Nation. But man this guy sure has balls to say something like that as the Nebraska head coach.
  16. Actually, Bill, the only person that can be critical of yourself is you! It goes like this: others are critical of me, I am critical of myself. Sometimes I wonder if Cally went to the "George W. Bush School for Speakin' Real Good." But at least he's a word of his man, even if his words don't make sense.
  17. When Ganz was interviewed after the game did he say, "Yeah, I'm pretty much the sh!t; coach should have played me all season"? No! He said the big difference was that the O-line gave him a lot of time in the pocket. I'm glad that Callahan hasn't "developed" Ganz's attitude.
  18. Well it's too bad Callahan didn't think to "develop" any non-QB position players during his tenure, say like anyone on defense for example. He basically just made a case or why he'd make a good QBs coach, but a bad head coach. Maybe he's right.
  19. By "everything" I assume you're referring to the sight of Lucky in a banana hammock.
