  1. What these guys said. Did anyone even read the article, or did you just see the thread topic and pile on?
  2. Just a question: How do you lead with the shoulder without going sideways? Running at someone at full speed your head is always going to get there first. Martin's problem is that he went into Hudson with his head down and that is always going to get called when the refs see it. But a suspension here is totally unwarranted. This wasn't a receiver jumping for a ball across the middle or the kicker getting blindsided. There was definitely more intent in the guy swinging at Martinez' head.
  3. My feelings exactly. We shouldn't have even been talking MNC unless we were undefeated going into the Colorado game.
  4. The season is far from over. The goal all along was win the conference and we still control our own destiny.
  5. TU had 2 weeks to prepare for our zone read. I would guess over half the plays we ran were zone read. I'm not saying we need to go all WCO, but we need to have a more varied offense.
  6. When the other team is expecting it, you're only going to successfully recover an onside kick about 15% of the time. With 3 minutes and 2 timeouts you kick it deep and hope for a defensive stop. With less time on the clock, you have to gamble with the onside kick.
  7. Punting so quickly there is a head-scratcher - what was the point? If every play is supposed to be reviewed, give them enough time to look at that. If there was less time the onside kick makes sense, but with 3 minutes left it's a terrible call. Kick it deep and let the defense do it's job. I don't agree with pulling Martinez. You have to ride the horse that got you there. Lee did a good job, but really wasn't any more effective. Martinez still has home run capability. The play calling didn't do him any favors either. Once you see they are loading up against the zone read, change up the offense. I think if they mixed things up with some short, high percentage passes early, that would have taken some pressure off the running game.
  8. Would have been better if they interviewed the same people over again wearing red and seeing if the answers changed.
  9. The TV stations in KC are the worst when it comes to cutting into shows when the weather is bad.
  10. I don't like the "MNC or Bust" attitude a lot of people on here seem to have. If we get upset by Washington, it's not going to be the end of the world. Our realistic goal for the year should be a Big XII championship.
  11. Do you think every play is a success because the defense was confused? Most of the time it's because the offense was well executed. I'm not saying the wildcat isn't effective, just unnecessary when we have Martinez at qb. A defense has to worry about more things when he is taking the snap than if Paul or Burkhead is. Sounds good for flag football. Edit: I love a good gimmick play as much as the next guy, but they are usually run by teams who are underdogs and need a trick play because the regular offense isn't working.
  12. Do you think teams don't know what's coming when the offense lines up in the wildcat?
  13. Have we ever done that? If you have a running qb, then you already have that in the arsenal. It's not that confusing. The advantage is getting the ball to a rb quickly and you have an extra blocker (no qb handing off which takes him out of the play).
  14. I thought it said "Old Rabbits Die Hard". or maybe "Old Hobbits Die Hard".
  15. How are you going to prepare differently for the wildcat when you already have to prepare for a running qb? I get it last year when Burkhead was a big change from Lee, but what's the change from Martinez to Burkhead?
  16. I understand the point of the wildcat is to get the ball in the hands of a runner so you get an extra blocker as opposed to a qb handing it off. Our qb is one of the best runners on the team. What is having Burkhead or Paul taking a snap going to accomplish that we couldn't do with Martinez? It might even be less advantageous because Martinez is a threat to pass where you know whomever takes the snap in the wildcat is going to run.
