  1. wow, that is pretty harsh, but I have to admit I like it a lot. I do hope he has a job, but just not with the Huskers. Someone should show him rolling around in a bed full of cash, because that's what he'll be doing after this season.
  2. I think the saddest thing about this whole situation is he's gone so far that any effort he would try from now on would be seen as a front, or just to appease Osborne, not truly making an effort. I think this is truly his personality and it just doesn't fit. At least the cupboard isn't bare, we have a bunch of "4 or 5 star" players here and coming in. I look for NU to rebound next year quickly with a new staff.
  3. I just vomitted in my mouth a little bit. Surely the quotes in there were taken out of context, he can't really be that much of a self-fullfilling a-hole can he? The answer.... YES! The defensive issues are rectifiable, the young D-Line is getting better? We have 1, maybe 2 games left this year, what the hell is he going to do to rectify the defense for the last game or two? Where was the offensive production against the good teams, Missouri, Second half of Texas, A&M, USC? Sure he piles it on a KState team that had defensive troubles we're accustomed to seeing. This guy is clueless and I can't wait to see the door hit him in the ass on his way out!
  4. Honestly, I think it's hard to predict this game. No one would have thought our offense would click like it did last week. No one would have have thought our defense would play inspired like they did, holding KSU to 10 pts in the first half. My point is, realistically, do we know which NU team is going to show up? I'm very comfortable with Ganz it QB, love it actually. He can do things with his feet and seems to be able to make secondary reads Keller couldn't. I'm not sold on the defense, I'm not sure Cos can get his head far enough out of his arse to scheme up something to stop CU's offense. This game could very well be a CU blowout, a NU blowout or a 62-60 3 OT game. Call me a homer, but I think NU, with a bowl game looming and the knowledge of ridding themselves of the cancer that is BC & KC shortly after the game, take this one by 10.
  5. Right there is the irony in the whole thing. Before Pedey was fired, I sent several e-mails to Pearlman voicing concerns over the direction of the program etc. Now that T.O. is there, there's no way I would e-mail him, out of respect for him and what he's accomplished, and out of faith that he will do what's best for the program at NU.
  6. Looking at the BCS numbers, Oregon's remaining schedule is crap. If KU win's out, they would have a W over 2 top 5 teams in the BCS. That would hurdle them over Oregon into the NC game. Same could be said for Missouri if they were to run the table, I think they could jump up to 2 on those 2 games. If OU wins the big 12, I think they even jump Oregon based on a win versus a top 5 BCS team, most importantly coming at the end of the season when everyone is watching.
  7. I think this is a good point. He seems to have the size, speed and other physical tools to succeed at the next level, and I'm not sure that I wouldn't be doing the same thing if I was in his shoes. If he has a good combine, I think that he could be the highest (and one of the only) drafted Husker. That's what I was thinking too. I think if Purify has another good game at CU, and a good combine he could be up there as well. I think Ganz has improved his draft status immensely the last couple of weeks.
  8. Best part of Ganz was on 4th & 20, he scrambles for 23 then, instead of getting out of bounds, he tries to run over a DB! No wonder everyone rallies around him. Now, that being said, I hope he has the smarts to get out of bounds if he sees a linebacker coming! He brought life back into this team. Roll through CU and hopefully get an Insight bowl so I can go to the game!
  9. Doesn't ND have an agreement with College Football and/or BCS that if they have a winning record they get to be in a BCS game? haha I think NU has fallen farther this year based on early season projections, but I find true joy in seeing ND go 1 for the season.
  10. It will be interesting to see what Cosgrove does this weekend. Will he send the farm like he did against Texas, or will he play soft like the other 9 games. It kills me to watch this defense. K State will kill us with slants, unders, stops and anything else they want to run against us if we continue to give 8-10 yard cushions and get no pass rush. Freeman weighs a metric ton, we gotta bring the heat and let our corners man up. The D had life against Texas (first 3 quarters) due to finally getting to be the aggressor. All they other games we've let the opposing team dictate the game. This is not the blackshirts. The blackshirts dictate the way the game is played, you take what we give you. I think, depending solely on the defense this week, we'll either win, or get blown out. All comes down to Cosgrove.
  11. The sad thing is Callahan had more than enough opportunities to right this ship. He needed to fire Cosgrove long ago, he chose not to due to the fact they are friends. That would have been his only opportunity to get another year.
  12. The key point there is "exact same players." In Oklahoma, Stoops did not come in with a bare cupboard. The previous staff did a good job of recruiting, and Stoops was lucky enough to get them after a couple of years' experience. That made the difference, not Stoops. Happened here in Phoenix. I'm so sick of hearing about the NU/ASU game from '96, I'm glad ASU is having a little success this year so they'll shut up about '96. Dirk Koetter was a decent recruiter, just couldn't cut it as head coach. They bring in Dennis Erickson and boom, they're top 10. Callahan has proven (to the recruiting magazines) that he can recruit, he & his staff just can't do anything with them once they're here. I look for the new coaching staff next year to take the talent that's there get things moving in the right direction quickly.
