  1. Pelini says it's a grey area. I suspect it's something along the lines that Suh spit towards him, and maybe the wind caught it (it was a windy day) and hit Daniel on the shoes or somewhere. Or maybe it was totally unintentional and Daniel was in the wrong place.
  2. Agree with the more recent posts. With all of the upsets in college football, I don't write off any game. Of course the Texas Tech and Oklahoma games are long shots. Kansas seems to be falling back to earth. If Bo can hold the team together, I'm optomistic about the other games. But you can't put a W in front of ANY of them until you play them. I'm sure Baylor, ISU, KSU, and CU are all looking at Nebraska and thinking they have a good shot too.
  3. I pretty much agree with the original post. I don't drink the kool aid. I know there are problems with this team and we are a ways from getting back into the top 10, if we ever do. But why would a Husker "fan" log into a game chat and immediately start with "we suck" and literally laugh when mistakes are made or big plays given up? Where's the good or fun in that? There's a line between being realistic and being degrading. Too many are crossing that line. Fortunately, the game crowd sounded noisy and enthusiastic early on. I can certainly understand how as the game turned into a rout, the wind would be taken out of your sails, and I didn't hear any booing (except when Gabbert came in!). I can't really blame people for leaving early, either. It can be too much to take. But realize, that is basically quitting on your team, and at some point the favor may be returned. In my opinion, destructive fan behavior can keep us from coming back. Recruits will take a look, and think, THESE are the so-called best fans in football I've been hearing about? Why would I come here? Calling for coaches to be fired after a bad game just makes for instability, and inability to make a good hire when there is an opening. Plus it's just no fun to hear other fans gloating "Nebraska sucks". It's a whole lot worse when I hear it among our own.
  4. I understand what you were saying, and agree. At the least, we should've had our #2 in there against yours, then working on his game would be ok, in my opinion. With a senior QB we need to get Witt or Lee a few snaps sometime anyway. Hopefully in the next year or two or three we won't have to worry about being in this position again.
  5. Oregon's turn this week? OU is up 10-3 in the 2nd, seem to be moving the ball well on them so far, from half watching it on TV2 with the sound down.
  6. This isn't looking like an OT game, but if Auburn gets a TD, they would probably go for 2, so it might be. I sure hope not. I get Classic, but I want it in HD, dammit!
  7. espn360 shows multiple games, so I'm pretty certain they'll show our kickoff. Can't say for certain but it makes sense to me.
  8. I heard this morning the Mizzou has scored every 1st possession this year...but I still like to defer so we can receive in the 2nd half.
  9. ESPN just said the Husker game will start on ESPN Classic if the Vandy game runs into it.
  10. And the espn360 site shows it on their schedule as well.
  11. It's starting to run long, isn't it? Big game, really. Will they delay the Husker game start until this one is over? Or start it on an ESPN alternate channel?
  12. Nahhh, most people thought we were going to blow them out. Hanging around Wrigleyville after the Cubs game the day before I asked an ND fan if they were going to break out the green jerseys. He said probably not, they really hadn't been working well the last few times and they were afraid if we put 50 on them, they'd have to retire them for good. And one of the reasons we were able to turn it into the Sea of Red is that ND fans didn't want to see a big loss, and couple pretty much pay for the rest of the games by selling this ticket. As it turned out, our offense sputtered at times, and they got the two TD returns to put the game into OT.
  13. Well, yeah, you do care if it's on TV, because that dictates what time the game is. That's why game times aren't announced until 6 or 13 days in advance, which is when TV networks select their games. I'd actually think a PPV game would do better in Ames than Lincoln. I'd bet more people who go to games in Lincoln but can't make it to Ames would buy PPV than vice versa.
  14. I love watching college football, and I love how from a few days before Christmas through early January there is at least one game on nearly every night. For some non-BCS conference schools and some perennial doormats it is still special to make any bowl game. For others, the major (now BCS) bowls have been the big deal and the lesser bowls have always meant less. I don't see what the big deal is about the new bowls. You don't like them--don't watch them. There's not a lot else going on in the sports world that they are bumping from TV anyway.
  15. So how did you enjoy your first game of college football?
  16. Good point that we had been holding them to FGs most of the time, and that would've made it a one possession game.
  17. Well, it didn't take away ANY possibility, because in fact we did get the ball back and had it (for a second or two) in our territory. It contributed a little, but we couldn't stop them from 10 yards out. How can you say we'd have stopped them from 20? Or they might well have gotten one first down and used more clock with another 4 downs, too much to give us a chance to do anything?
  18. Passion without discipline is not going to get us very far. Passion is needed, but without discipline on the field it's going to result in lots of jumping offsides, late hit penalties, special teams penalties (passion says to take out a defender who has a line on the returner; discipline says to lay off if it's going to be a block in the back), over pursuing on defense (and getting burned on cutbacks, reverses, etc), fumbles, and interceptions by forcing passes. But yeah, it's good to see the passion. I'm not going to throw Bo under the bus for this. But he'd better not be still drawing such penalties in a year or two.
  19. It was 35-29 after the TD...the kick made it 35-30...a 2 pt conv would have made it 35-31, still a TD away.
  20. The other key is for the team to take accountability for the loss and learn from it and improve. Blaming the refs will not help at all.
  21. No, different coach will make it different for the better, much better, in my opinion. The next two games will be rough though.
  22. Right, we didn't control either line consistently, couldn't run well, Ganz was always scrambling. Lots of run stops later in the game as Pelini was loading up, but we let Tyler get loose too often. A couple big plays put us back in the game but I'd rather not rely on those, especially since they weren't enough. I like the passion but not the loss of control. 3 15-yard penalties in a very short stretch--terrible. And whether or not it is a questionable call on the OB hit, refs will protect a QB and if he is going out they expect tacklers to lay off, and will call that almost all of the time. Tyler may not have been quite down when Suh left his feet but he was clearly committed out of bounds so hitting him was just a bonehead play. The good part was that the team didn't quit.
  23. 1st half stats very ugly...14 rushes for 23 yards, Ganz is 6 of 14, 1 of 7 conversions on 3rd down.
  24. Could you make a corn cob shaped helmet to go with that?
