  1. Unless we really piss him off, I don't see Bo bolting for any team accept his alma mater. What are the chances he's going to Columbus if and when Tressel leaves?
  2. I don't know a lot about recruiting, but I've heard supposedly close to the program claim that our recruiting isn't going all that well. And as I've looked at our recruits, few of them are highly touted nationally in terms of their Scout or Rivals Stars ranking. Like I say, I'm not recruiting expert. What is the overall consensus out there as to where we stand on recruiting?
  3. Once I get them all, I will post them in a poll format.
  4. Did anyone else notice that Fox was obsessed with returning to a shot of the KU band, and that dorky little bald man, his fat wife, and their two lezbo daughters right in front of the camera? How gay was that?
  5. Play for? Well, he had 4 years here, and I can count the games on one hand that the players he recruited did much playing. On the field that is.
  6. Everyone needs to just chill. Cally was recruiting a completely different player than Pelini, and look where it took us - to the crapper. I'll wage a bet that this class will be just fine in the end. Just as there are defections, so there will be defections TO Nebraska because we actually have a football coach now, not some clipboard dork that yawns like 8 times a game.
  7. I guess, since there is no more fish they can stop off on in Kansas on the way here, and let Magino use the 400 gallon tank for a bath Tub, since it might be big enough. And strong enough too. You wouldn't want 400 gallons of water and sh#t flowing everywhere. Yeah, that brings a whole new meaning to "Don't feed the Manatee".
  8. Is Cody the son of Joe Glenn at Wyoming? I always wondered why a kid wouldn't just play for his dad. that should have told Nebraska something.
  9. Hey look I have nothing to add to this other than I have no respect for any man that's called "Bobby" well into his 40's. Except for Bowden.
  10. The Huskers are already a part of the national elite. It's just that we've had a clown for a coach the last 4 years. This will be more apparent about a year from now.
  11. A friend of mine that works deep within the athletic dept at NU got hold of the transcript of the interview between Osborne and Pelini. Here is how it went: - Plane landed in Baton Rouge, and Pelini was waiting in the hangar. - Door opened on the plane, Osborne and Perlman exchanged hugs and kisses with Bo, and in Bo went. - Tom said "want a drink? I've got some hard stuff in here." Pelini said "Give me that bottle of scotch." He took a few swigs, looked at Oz and Perl and said "So what's up?" - Oz said "We need a new coach." - Pelini said "Oh yeah, I'm all ears." - Oz asked "What will you do different at Nebraska?" - Pelini took another swig of scotch and said "Win." - Oz replied "Fine. You got the gig. I'll get back to you in a week." - The three again exchanged hugs and greetings, and Pearlman said "Thanks Bo...you know you just pulled my ass out of the flames." Bo said "Yeah, I know. Can I keep the scotch"? - Perl said "yeah. See ya soon coach. And please, don't change your mind." - Door shut, plane left, the rest is history.
  12. All the talk about the big playbook etc by Callahan was nothing more than an ego trip on his part. The more complicated, the smarter he thought he was. Trouble is, playbooks don't win games.
  13. You homers can say what you want, but there's some things I already miss about Cally and Pud: Cally: - Watching him open his mouth real wide like the Lion King several times a game for no apparent reason - Listening to him talk about the "higher ups" - Listening to the stories about parity - Hearing him use real macho terminology like referring to the football as "the rock" - very impressive Pud: Mainly the s*it eating grin everywhere he went. I'll never forget Cally's first year when NU was winning against a 1-AA school and Jim Rose asked him "how many games does NU have to win for bowl eligibility, and he just gave a smug grin and arrogantly said "6", and then Cally proceeded to lay an egg the rest of the way out.
  14. Osborne tells the new coach guys he wants on staff, but gives Callahan no input as far as guys he should keep or let go. Something doesn't add up here. I think Osborne wanted Callahan to fall flat on his face so he could get rid of him, no questions asked. I can agree that TO wanted Clownahan and company to fall on their face. In fact, I don't just think TO wanted it but all the boosters wanted it as well. If Clownahan would have won out the remainder of the season, I think the boosters would have had egg all over their face and Clownahan would have been retained. To me, the coaching search really seems like a 2 man show right now. However, I'm beginning to feel rather it was just a one man show with everyone hoping that one guy said yes. The boosters ponied up big bucks to get rid of Pud and Clownahan. I have no idea what they had to pony up to get Pelini. We shall see if their interference was a good thing or a bad thing. I will say though that I feel better having TO in the mix than if it were Pud. What do you think about the government cover up of UFOs? How would the booster had egg all over there face? Do you think the boosters had something to do with Pud being fired? Please explain. You must think less of T.O. then you think, if you got the impression that he wanted Callahan to fail, and he would be willing to dangle a string in front of Turner Gill, (a good friend) when he had no thought of considering him for the job. My thoughts are that T.O. was offered the interim AD because he was the most logical at that point of the season. Offered to help Callahan anyway he could and was turned down by an egotistical coach. Then even after the coach went out and tanked the next 3 games, T.O. was still willing to give him a chance. After seeing Callahan run up the score against Kansas ST, and the collapse of Colorado game, he decided he had no other choice, but to fire Callahan. T.O. then went out and interviewed everyone that responded to the search committee that would be interested in coaching at Nebraska. T.O. then went and interviewed everyone with the thought in his mind they had to fit a certain criteria IE Defensive minded, Money issue. and Not cemented to bringing a whole staff to Nebraska (Which I agree, since then it would feel like a bunch of outsiders coming in and taking over your team) (Last thing Nebraska needs is coaching staff with a bunker type attitude coming in, and then having posters start complaining about certain assistants.) After interviewing everyone he compared the list of who fit the criteria the most and chose Pelini. I know that's less intrigue and fun to think it came about this way, but most likely the way things came about. I think the boosters had everything to do with Pud being fired. I really don't believe in coincidence. How did a guy who was given an extension for supposedly doing all these great things for Nebraska's athletics suddenly be found to be the "devil"? It's funny none of his supposed dictatorship and people within the athletic department hating him came out until the football team began to struggle. I think everyone involved wanted Clownahan to fail after Pud had been fired. If he would have won out, it would have been extremely difficult to fire him. I don't think TO ever dangled anything in front of Gill. I don't think Gill was ever seriously even in contention for the job. When Solich was fired, Gill even though he was the assistant HC wasn't named the interim. I don't think anyone ever seriously saw him as a HC here. I'm thinking what football players I knew said must have been correct in him being lazy. I agree that TO was the most logical choice to be the interim AD. However, I think he was brought in with strings attached that he must adhere to or else someone else would have been named. He was brought in knowing Clownahan was done, and his job would be to pursuade Pelini into coming here as our next HC. I think the boosters and Pearlman had been working quite a while behind the scenes. If you don't believe me, just pm skersfan and ask him what he knows of the situation.
  15. I think this was a key indicator that things were heading into the crapper. Folks on here were ticked at CM's behavior but it made me wonder what the heck is going on? Turned out that there was apparently a lot going on that was yet to fully manifest itself. I think CM's feelings and attitudes were reflective of a huge morale problem that was either pervasive or soon to be. I'm not sure what the causes were or what the coaches needed to do to head it off, but apparently neither did the coaches. Pardon my ignorance, but what did McKeon do???
  16. 50th? 60th? 70th? The LOWER the better. It will make the climb back to the top that much more SATISFYING!
  17. I agree 100%. Screw this year. I knew a few games into 2004 (namely at Tech) that we had hired a total loser. I'll never forget that sick feeling leaving the stadium in Lubbock and I told my wife "you know this isn't the same Nebraska. They may have the "N" on the helmet but that's about it." We had a 2 hour drive home (we live in Texas) and we were both in a stupor the entire way.
  18. I knew all was not right in 2004 when at the Abomination of Desolation in Lubbock. I knew we were in for some dark years.
  19. After 5-7, you'd think that even Pud would have been making some changes. I suspect that a few assistants would have gotten canned, but Cally would have gotten another year.
