  1. Yoda was definitely better as a Frank Oz puppet and Chewbacca was better originally too. However, if you've never seen the actual originals you haven't seen the whole thing being ruined by Lucas's love of CGI. They are different (better) films before the late 90s. Honestly. Not only does he just arbitrarily add scenes to get more CGI in which is completely obvious, but he layers cgi in existing scenes, adds scenes that change the movie, changes scenes that were in the movies, etc. The southpark episode about Lucas and Spielburg raping Indiana Jones and Starwars wasn't a piece of fiction. I haven't seen the originals in probably 15 years and I was still mentally picking out how scenes were different when I marathoned them over Christmas. They are just not the same films, sadly. So I am going to stick with badgerfan, with the caveat that the darth maul light saber fight was badass (possibly because of the 2 hour buildup of "this has to get better" after seeing Star Wars in theaters for the first time in 20+ years) and the only thing that should survive from the "first" (by number) 3 films.
  2. OK... an "aspect" isn't a way to look at free speech. If we pass SOPA, how will that effact your opinion of our free speech? it's effact (i know) probably will be less (at least at first) then the sedition acts we've had passed during wars, to be frank. However now that speech is global, I've moved my website domain hosting off US soil. congrats other countries with more rights then the US and US corporations that support censorship. I'll send even more dollars overseas.
  3. That's awesome, and probably more awesome is the fact that we all now know skulls are a about a thousand times creepier with the eyes still in the sockets.
  4. The dude that made the batman movies and inception? Yep that's the definition of mimimal cgi. BTW, I didn't know Micheal Bay was a member of huskerboard. *as far as starwars, follow badger's avice* I wish, the VHS "classic" trilogy wasn't the last orignal star wars I could buy. That being said, funnily enough I just marathoned those movies a weekend or two ago. start with the last three "a new hope," "the empire strikes back," and then "return of the jedi." If you find Ewoks even slightly stupid throw the other movies away save for one part. The highlight of all 3 of the prequils was Darth Maul's light saber fight. As a simply stand alone light saber battle, it was pretty decent, and he was by far the best Sith mostly because of his light saber... Fast forward to that point (if it cuts to story, don't worry you didn't miss anything) watch that 5 minutes. Then follow badger's advice. If you get through Jedi and actually like Ewoks. Do exactly the same thing I just said. Seriously, there is no redeeming value in watching anything else in the prequels. I know, Ewan McGregor wasn't stinking the place up, but he's the only actor in them, seriously follow badger's advice. If you watched them all, well repeat Anakin getting his arms and legs cut off by Obiwan until you can forget the whiny bitch he was for the previous three movies, and a couple extra to wipe the Jar-Jar taste out of your mouth, and again bin the first three movies. Then try not to throw up in rotj when the "ghosts" are the new actors. Then download the family guy and robot chicken star wars trilogies and cleans yourself. (on a side note why did Lucas screw up his own universe's cannon, Yoda was supposed to train Obi-wan, what-the hell man. it must have been in a book nobody read, like all of them, or something.)
  5. Want to see how your congressmen and senators are going to vote. http://sopatrack.com/ Also figures that scumbag Lee Terry is a co-sponsor.
  6. So how'd that work out for ya? chuckleshuffle Look the Tebow band wagoners finally came out of their caves where they've been hiding at for the past 4 weeks. Yeah, this'll be a thread that gets bumped probably every time the broncos win or lose. It's almost like I planed it that way. As for his band-wagoners, it's not like we (ok I) think the guy is the second coming. I just think it's absolutely hilarious how all the NFL experts like to pile on him for two+ years then eat-sh#t, then pile on again, only to eat-sh#t when he beats big ben and the defending afc (or whatever) champs. If you don't find it funny enough to like Tebow, I think you probably listen to the nfl hype men that take themselves way too seriously and believe what they are selling way too much.
  7. I feel like this is kinda the common idea across college football in bowls, or maybe it's just nebraska lore after the oklahoma fiasco, but, the rematch seems to go to the losing team.
  8. completely disagree, they need to go back to the old bowl alliances and say screw every media member that will cry about it, and then tell the "we want CFB to be the NFL" croud to just go ahead and sleep through saturdays or go mow the lawn. In return, Im done with my yardwork experiment, and I'm absolutely sure waiting untill noon or later on sundays works for me to mow, clean gutters, etc. So long as I don't have to catch the NFL fair is freaking fair. Hell I'll also throw in not watching basketball if they leave real football alone (nobody tell the rest of the country what that means here).
  9. both of them would have murdered osu.
  10. Of course that's wiping from his memory of the fact that they couldn't toss it up 50 times in ames and find a freaking win to earn a spot on a championship game. All us couch potatoes are glad to know what we'd have to do to defend against your team on xbox gundy. Since that's the only time you'd ever get one in a championship game plus the only time we'd ever care...
  11. Not shocked, you have to find 23 teams better, and 96 teams worse. It gets hard one way or another...
  12. Press doesn't exist anymore (really it's pretty much all just TMZ like crap) and absolutely anything you say on here is monitored. Anything you post over the internet that isn't encrypted is monitored. Anything you email that isn't encrypted is monitored, anything that hits yahoo, gmail, etc is monitored when transmitted or is fair game for the government to retrieve after you leave it in the account for six months (that's right anything on your gmail/yahoo/etc... left for 6 months is confiscated(legally) and monitored by the government.) Everything you post to facebook is monitored, every picture you upload is scanned with facial recognition software, etc... So beyond face to face what exactly is free speech anymore? What you say here sure isn't protected. Even if you think it is by sheer obscurity, it's not, since every plain text message sent over the internet is captured.
  13. With the exception of what the "right" in this country want's to portray as socialism (which is 1920s Italian socialism)... And basically ignore everything at the end of the actual definition where it sates... "should be a society based upon social justice, including social equality, economic protection of people, and should provide a more satisfying life for most people" So that their definition of it should nullify completely the altruistic overtones and ultimate goal. I think every "socialist" i.e. pretty much everyone that has any left lean in the US (unfortunately propaganda wise for us) basically believes we can have a democracy that is out for the "common good" without controlling every aspect of our lives, and in my personal case exist without controlling anything but a few should be state funded seperate aspects of life. yet with the patriot act and plenty of other Bush (and Obama with this last bill) era National security acts I find the whole "socialism to the left" concept laughable at best. However I do believe... two things should absolutely be "socialized" in this "democracy." Number one is health care, because we all, everyone of this nation has the obligation to make sure our neighboors are doing as well as they can in this or any time if we have the ability (knowledge, not cash) to provide care for them. This isn't some question of how rich you are, and anyone that wants to think it is need only look down and imagine where you're going to end up, probably sooner rather then later, when your neighboors take that same self centered non-christian view towards you. Secondly education, it needs to be standardized, and universal (and based on god-damned science). look at the difference between first and third world countries. The difference is the education of the population (mainly, sure natural resources play a part too). There also needs to be investment in post high-school education. To keep research and break-throughs in-house(nation). But damn right I believe in state sponsorship mislabled as "socialism" in areas that should just be basic overall good of the human species issues (plus they'd also benefit the state). In no way do I believe in a state controlling all markets. In fact I believe that Ron Paul is right in his views in almost all other areas except what I just stated, especially with regards to personal liberites, and these other three areas: The state also needs to maintain a good national infrastructure. The state also needs to keep a close watch on monopolies (keeping free markets actually free) and it should protect people from violations of their human rights and properties. And one more that goes without saying the state needs to keep a strong national defense, but not like it is now spying on it's own citizens, and fear/war-mongering to justyfy itself with troops in 150 countries and able to sustain 2+ foreign confilicts at once. A national defense, simply protecting our international trade, and keeping people from attacking us. It's common sense, especially long term. Edit: and if you are going to do this, reply and convince me socialism is bad in those areas, I was going to come back with discrete mathmatics argument logic... so if you could look that crap up too, that'd be a big help. Actually don't I'll just ask how may ferraris make a collection. Or how many spy agencies do we need? Because we have socialism now comrade! Just we don't get it fed to us over the TV in that light. My personal doctor, middle of this great country, has a personal collection of ferarris. That is no bullsh#t. Congrats to him. right? but it's a family practice he took over from his father. This is insurance money with pharma kick backs... I sure as sh#t didn't choose him, my private insurance HMO/PPO did. Did I have options, well sure, whatever they tell me they are. Think we are getting the best deals we can now? "Yet they'd stop treating us if they ever found somewhere they could make more money." Which is the freaking point - keep science and innovation in this country, and reasonable copyright laws, make the innovators stay here, and raise the whole planets sandard of living. Be the bastion of democracy and a light to the rest of the world.
  14. Pretty sure in order to be the best you have to plan to beat the best, not just emulate them in lesser recruiting hotbeds. I wouldn't leap praise on either Bama or LSU's offenses, at all. Bama won by wearing them down, true, but they weren't high powered or good like nebraska's old offesnse at all. It was field goals all game until lsu got lazy on one run, where the corner or saftey just sucked himself up inside and let it bounce outside rather then containing it. But I'll agree both LSU and Bama are fundamentally better teams. Although so were wisconsin and quite a few others.
  15. if the bcs goes away we go back to the bowl system. There isn't going to be a playoff unless it keeps the bowls getting all their money and the top schools/conferences getting all theirs. I.E. Watch them discuss it, watch them also decide not yet. If it were me, I'd tell people to watch the NFL if they want a playoff, and watch college football if they wanted actual official review and a fair (at least on the field) game, and if they wanted more football to go see a UFL game or two and support that league.
  16. Can we lay this crap espn tries to hype up every "potentially" undefeated national championship team with (for more raitings) to rest again for another year now? All time greats win all their games, dominate them physically and don't luck out to win them. LSU could have been one, with an offense. Alabama could've been one with the same thing in the first game, assuming they domintated the rematch. That being said, what a boring ass game, and I don't mean defensive struggle, because it was a pretty good game of football... it was just who cares? Someone needs to stop the SEC overrecruiting, cheating bullcrap and even things out again. I don't care if the big ten starts to condone it or the NCAA mandates it stops, but handicapping yourself in the dirty business of college football costs more by losing then it does if you get caught, and the SEC obviously will bend rules as far as they can (and then some). And it results in the same thing either way, rampant "oversigning" i.e. cheating before you even get to the shady pay for play sh#t, with a small percentage being punished. Then calls for reform. Just play the damn game right. Treat the players right. 4 year scholoarships should have been the norm since they were offered.
  17. I'm pretty sure that ass in your avatar isn't yours, but thankfully you hand picked it, and it's the absolute most fitting avatar for you, an ass. A pretty nice ass, but an ass none the less. Of course, neither of you understand this fully, no wonder you'd assume someone other then you with barely a basic grasp does. Then you place the blame for it on the government, but don't actually understand what insurance does and therefore what you are talking about. This is introductory level statistics here. The supposed "universal" language of math. It's shameful that so few Americans can speak it, especially older voting Americans, it should be a requirement before you can vote. There should be a test to understand statistics, since anything you vote for is going to affect a population and thus affect an entire statistical population. Let's hope. Dang dude really... Your part of the reason political discourse in this country sucks.. Nice... Can't really argue with that. There should be a mid-high-school level math class refresher course required to vote though, I'll stand by that. It should include a class on the as well. Edit: also Never have I claimed to be classy, but well, that wasn't personal. I've done a lot worse then calling a spade a spade on this here internets machine.
  18. This is exactly why for profit insurance is bullsh#t. It's making money from population statistics, yet it's absolutely in the "provider's" benefit to make sure that you don't get coverage for any condition in which they'd lose profit from you. They are there to bet that the pool of people they cover costs less then their premium amounts minus their expenses simply for pooling and offsetting the money you pay in. That's why you've seen huge lawsuits made into movies like "The Rainmaker". Insurance companies aren't there for you, they are there to pool you into a group and charge you above the mean cost of your lifetime health coverage then cut out the upper outliers for their own profit... Just pray you aren't one. It's basically a reverse lottery where they control the payouts. Frankly they could do the same being state run, probably better since they'd have continuous records from the population instead of hit or miss blips from the population trying to not incur a deductable. Plus everyone having to pay into the same pool. Except then we hit the old problem of kickbacks to political friends. Which dives us right back into the heart of the problem, political contributions. That's what pretty much every issue is deflecting attention from. It is the root cause. All insurance is basically just a prepaid loan pool by a bunch of people so that it can statistically cover the cost of unexpected expenses plus executive salaries from that pool and any interest they make on it. (Which they do, anytime you prepay anything you give them more then you receive, do a quick net-present-value search) Yet universal health insurance is evil and socialist. Not to mention completely unAmerican, but we all fund the military in the same way. The whole basis of anti-universal heath care is "I don't want to pay for those unhealthy people" and that's the gist of Insurance too. Yet you do it either way. Through taxes for people that hold off till they get emergency care. It's moronic and totally republican. Someone needs to start the MATH party, to do what makes sense numbers wise, just with enough common sense to not take it into "social" conservative/liberal areas. but if they really wanted to solve these issues they'd be listening to people like Lawrence Lessig (from about 14:50 on) about campaign reform. Then maybe politicians would do the right thing, and explain it to the slow... i.e. republicans that cant wrap their heads around the math the simple fact they won't ever statistically benefit from tax breaks for the 99.5% nor will they ever get there even if they hit the powerball. So to sum it up, you are willing to lose the quality and and the availability of healthcare that we currently have for those who can afford it in order for everyone to be covered at a lesser degree because the government will never ever ever ever ever be able to afford it any better then private insurance does thus everyone's coverage options will be limited to make up for it. I'll give you credit that at least you admit your views are socialist. I refuse to believe the best we can do as a species is to cover the lower half of the mean healthcare wise, while hoping the top half all die fast and the only outliers we incur are at the bottom end and hopefully there is enough money left over for the CEO to get a fancy house and car. Or sell that block to some other company for a few million. I've seen insurance from the inside like 99% of people in Omaha, it's not a very nice game if you can do basic algebra. Yet since it is statistics, it's a game where 1) the bigger the pool the better for every policyholder's bottom line. and 2) the more data-points the more accurately you can predict the costs. If you think you're in the upper tier of healthcare you're insane. Unless your in the upper .05% of income to the point actually paying for insurance would just cost you more money over your lifetime you're imagining the amount and quality of care you'll get. Just like you probably imagine your going to make millions of dollars and actually benefit from the tax cuts republicans want to keep. Statistically, it's unlikely, like almost lottery odds unlikely otherwise insurance companies wouldn't be in business. (unless you actually do, but if that's the case you should hire me to type out responses for you on sports message-boards that won't ever actually influence sh#t, pm me for my contact info in that case and I'll argue against common sense and basic math all you want once the check clears).
  19. We apparently got rid of the actual good members of HP. Besides like the 3-4 guys that apparently trolled the political board we had plus Calla (the one good member I saw for like a week)... But yeah if someone starts a thread this board someone will reply. If it's moronic people on this board will tell the poster so . If they are completely stupid and trolling then they'll have the non-optional option to go elsewhere from the admins... But really nobody should be that worried about a discussion, kinda the point of forums...
  20. So you haven't seen the aristocrats then? I get southpark. I'll take it further.
  21. Kugs and Severe are great... If you cant handle their humor.. That is on you. At what point did I say I couldn't handle their humor? My post was about them not being smart enough to understand the humor of South Park. South Park and humor are different. South park tends try to bring humor to offensive things way too soon, so soon that it might be offensive to a lot of people that just aren't ready for it. As an alternative to that completely offensive humor, I'd simply suggest that all those people that think southpark is classless and in general bad taste with their humor, rent the movie "the Aristocrats". That movie is a shining beacon of classic humor. Watch it with your kids.
  22. They get paid more money when they find controversy.
  23. If I could change one thing I'd make the freshman runningback's legs thick like Ingram's were. all three of them. then I'd rotate them and hand the ball off/pitch like 70 times a game.
  24. I'm pretty sure that ass in your avatar isn't yours, but thankfully you hand picked it, and it's the absolute most fitting avatar for you, an ass. A pretty nice ass, but an ass none the less.
