  1. Calhoun is a good coach for sure, Monken has won 4 of the last 6 vs the zoomies. AF is also largely considered the easiest of the 3 academy jobs to win at for a variety of reasons, but largely tied to their recruiting advantage.
  2. Some recent reports talking about the reasoning mentioned how unorganized Wisconsin is in their recruiting department. It seems Cryst didn’t have a good plan in that area. I think he is a very good XO’s coach and definitely understands development, I would want to know what his recruiting plan would be and what lessons he learned from Wisky? Does he truly understand what wasn’t done well and what it should look like? I wonder if going to another school, like Alabama, as a staffer for a year or two would do him well. That would give him insight as to what he was neglecting previously and what to do next time.
  3. I don’t think people realize just how big of a job an Academy HC position is and how hard they are to recruit and win at. In addition it is important to truly understand what Monken did to turn Army around, if more people understood just how hard he and his staff work to recruit and the absolute size of his job, I am sure most would realize that two of the biggest detractions used against him, no P5 experience and lack of recruiting chops, are actually misguided. I would be very conflicted as I would be losing the best coach at my alma mater since Earl Blaik, but on the other hand I know my beloved Huskers would be in great hands with him. If I have time this weekend, I will try and put a summary together on Monken and what he would bring. Honestly I would prefer Rhule because I think he would also do a great job, but I would also feel great about Monken staying at Army.
  4. This may be the most ignorant post I have read in a LONG time. You clearly don’t have a single clue to what it takes to win at an Academy.
  5. No one is denying that BB is a top notch gameday coach and player developer, the question with BB is what happens in 2 years if his current recruiting results hold to trend. Reality is that he will have lessor talent to work with then, doesn’t matter how good of a talent developer your are as a coach, you still have to have enough raw material to work with. Based on his current recruiting trajectory at Illinois, it is fair to question they will look in 2-3 years if not sooner.
  6. On top of that, BB’s first two recruiting classes are WAY below where Lovie’s classes were. I know he has a proven track record from Wisky, but it is also fair to ask if he can sustain this level of excellence once Lovie’s recruited players are gone since it doesn’t appear that the roster he is building is near as talented. His coaching prowess and ability to develop talent are clearly pretty top notch, I am just not sold yet that he is able to keep this up long term.
  7. Dammit man! You must wield this “power” more carefully! What are the Husker fans supposed to do with all of that koolaid viagra you convinced them to go get?
  8. I have to admit, this article swayed me. I would very happy with BoB.
  9. Another one on several lists that had a bye this past weekend. It will be humorous watching peoples’ heads explode in a month or so.
  10. That is a much more reasoned response than your last one. Others might respond with reasons on why it could work, Dabo Swinney as an example with strong parallels to the MJ scenario that did work for example, and feel free to continue to disagree in a similar fashion to this post.
  11. Maybe, maybe not, but that isn’t how you are coming off. Go back and reread your post I quoted and think hard about it. Basically you come off as stating that MJ is a completely incompetent coach and individual. Just because others don’t share your view point, doesn’t mean you should take it to the extreme to make your point; that won’t change anyone’s mind, it only makes you look bad for insulting MJ in that fashion.
  12. In what role? As a WR coach, absolutely.
  13. You seriously need to take a step back and rethink how you are choosing to react. We get it, you don’t want MJ to be HC of NU, but frankly your vitriol towards him is so disrespectful and dishonest all you are doing is embarrassing yourself. At a minimum, MJ is one of the top WR coaches in the country and also one of the top recruiters to boot. Frankly if MJ weren’t retained for next year, he would have a lot of high end offers to choose from. It is ok to disagree on whether or not MJ should be the HC, but to claim that his resume “wouldn’t get him hired as head janitor at most schools” is embarrassing for you.
  14. Good catch, I also noticed that Washington had a game this past weekend so that would also eliminate Kalen DeBoer if G. Sharp is right.
  15. Interesting, seems to conflict with other hints some local media are dropping. For instance on Friday Gary Sharp said on his show something to the effect of perhaps the next coach of NU has a bye this week, HINT, HINT. Now that would exclude PJ Fleck as Minny had a game. It would obviously include MJ, Bret Bielema, Matt Campbell, and Jeremy Chadwell, but would also exclude Dave Aranda, Lance Leipold, and Chris Kleiman. Who knows at this point though.
  16. Yeah but we are talking about recruiting to UF in FLORIDA. Mullen way under performed in recruiting despite those built in advantages. On top of that, he was dismissive of recruiting at best. My UF friends all said the same thing about him after he was fired. Here is just one example: https://www.alligator.org/article/2021/11/counting-stars-dan-mullen-kirby-smart-and-florida-footballs-recruiting-woes —edit— here is a more recent local paper take: https://www.tampabay.com/sports/gators/2022/10/14/florida-gators-billy-napier-dan-mullen-recruiting-lsu-football/ Note the parts about penalties also, which I know aren’t what we were talking about.
  17. I find it interesting you list Mullen. Just curious as to why? The big rag on him by UF fans was his dislike for recruiting. He really doesn’t like to do it according to them and didn’t really work at it. —edit— I ask because of your consistent position of getting a top notch recruiter as HC
  18. Funny, my wife feels the exact same way about me. I thought she was going to leave me when I was shouting “Let’s F’ng Go Sexy Rexy!!!!” during the come back win vs Ohio State, oh and the windows were open…….
  19. That is commonplace in my experience also and I have been in several different industries over the years. Doesn’t always work out, but when I have to let people go, I always try to get the replacement lined up in advance
  20. You are forgetting that part of the deal for Frost to be retained was reducing his buyout down to $15mm from $25mm. Trev has already saved $10mm by his moves last year.
