  1. AC/DC - The House is On Fire I love the new AC/DC Station on Sirius!!!!!
  2. I agree, I have yet to read a CY post that didn't have me laughing my ass off. Maybe someone will start a "CY quote of the week" like Drowning did with BRI.
  3. Thenarse came in and made a couple of nice stops on Tyrod and in the passing game that I can remember distinctly. The radio broadcast crew mentioned his play after he got in, also mentioned that Asante didn't get back in.....
  4. I think it is really difficult to determine future success based off of this game. MU and TT are very different in offensive styles than VT. NU had issues early with the power running game, neither of the next two opponents have one of those. However a mobile QB for VT caused issues, Chase Daniels is certainly mobile but is he as elusive as Tyrod?
  5. So true it's almost NOT funny. Some of you guys live on the edge of emotion. It was never as good as some made it out to be, and it is not as bad as you are trying to now. 1. New coach - it take more than a few games to get fully adjusted. Player to coach, coach to new job. 2. Change in attitude/work ethic - some thing as above. it takes some time. I will tell you what I saw. I saw a team that fought back and didnt give up. Last years team would have lost by 20+ with the way that game went. Players and coach got a little hot headed at the end and may have cost the team a little. But overall, they fought threw mistakes and some poor play and put together a pretty solid effort. Are they a 9-10 win team at this point, no. But realistically, few should have thought that anyway. If this team continues to improve there will be bright days ahead husker fans. Dont go turning off the lights yet... Good post, Fro.
  6. Rushing Defense and deep passes, almost makes me glad I cannot watch this on TV
  7. I would concur with that, that is why I think giving them a "pat" on the back along with a decent/good win over VT will allow this team to realize its potential.
  8. well we have lost to KU in Lawrence the last 2 times from my recollection
  9. And I was thinking the same...but Bo holding out the 'shirts really bugs me. Caveman...in 1/145 AVN at Rucker...learning how to "drive the bus" instead of riding in the back! Well enjoy it, I mixed alot with OH58-D pilots while in 1-10 CAV. Loved those guys while in the CAV, nothing like being a Scout PL and having Air Recon at your fingertips! Well, if our playbook is anything like the teams, then boy help them! you think Bo holding out on the 'shirts helps us or hurts us? I think it depends on how he gives them out. I think the time is now, right before the VT game. The blackshirts were a Defensive Team identity that ALL D starters earned under TO. Bo made his point with the kick in the butt, time to pat them on the back a bit. I say that with the knowledge that any pat in the back requires a bit of fire and brimstone to go along with it.
  10. Mandel's a tool!! He says that, but the early 2000s might as well have been the early 1900s in the minds of the 16- and 17-year-old recruits who Pelini and his staff are attempting to lure to Lincoln. Unless those recruits grew up in Nebraska, Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch are little more than names in a media guide to them. Maybe that's because kids these days get Vince Young, Beanie Wells, and a bunch of other pansies crammed down their throats!! Seriously, I think I might puke next time I hear or read about Robert Griffin from Baylor being a good QB!! He's f-ing horrible!! Yes, he has speed but big deal. Lots of players throughout history have had speed and nobody throws their names out like it's an answer in final Jeopardy!! He also has the throwing mechanics of someone imitating the mix between Sam Keller's delivery and a Jennie Finch pitch and nobody wants to discuss that!! Yeah, I'm a major homer but Tommie was in a league of his own compared to any of the guys running the ball at QB today and nobody wants to give him props. You could watch highlights of him all day and he puts all other running QB's to shame. Speed, power, arm strength!! He had it all. I'd venture to say that if he had worked on his accuracy and didn't have any clots, we'd be watching him play on Sundays and hearing about him a lot more than as some footnote in Stewart Mandel's articles. GBR!!! Not sure what game you've been watching, but since I'm still at home and not at NU yet we still use our family's season tickets to Baylor football, as my whole family has graduated from BU. Griffin is the real deal and by next year will probably be labeled the 2nd best QB in the conference next to Sam Bradford and the best dual threat QB in the country. He's better than Pat White already, better than Grothe, better than Locker...I think the problem is that most fans of bigger schools can't seem to fathom that this guy slipped past them. Griffin had a scholarship offer to NU, too. He was a strong Christian and had formed a bond with Coach Briles, so he chose to head to Waco. You my friend are crazy!!! He couldn't hold Tyrod Taylor's jock, which isn't saying much, let alone Pat White's, Grothe, Locker or Bradford. Yes, I'll give you the fact that he does make a few plays with his legs but from the 3 games I've seen him play Washington State, UCONN, and Wake; I haven't been impressed. A few plays a game using your legs doesn't constitute mention as a dual threat QB. Hell, nearly 75% of the yards he has gained rushing this year came when he ran for 217 against WSU, and to be perfectly honest with you, they play more like a high school team on defense than a D-I team. Against his other 3 opponents he ran for 46, 42, and 29 yards while passing for 125, 294, 129, and 208 yards respectively. Hardly numbers consistent or anywhere near what I would call the 2nd Best QB in the Big 12. Oh, and by the way can you let me know who you think is going to label him the 2nd best QB in the Big 12, so I can slap the sh@t out of him. Hopefully if he improves like you say he will, he might be around 10th or 11th best QB in the Big 12. Coming in ahead of only Josh Freeman of course, HA HA!! Feel free to slap the whole game day crew on FSN (they called him a Heisman contender), Tommy Bowden, Jim Grobe ("I really don't want to play them next year"), Randy Edsall ("I really don't want to play him next year"), and virtually every broadcaster who's mentioned Baylor. Get a clue, guy. Just because he doesn't play for NU doesn't mean he's not good. He's an elite QB in this conference and he's a freshman. You failed to mention that he's yet to throw a pick against 2 of the best defenses in the country in Wake and UConn. Seriously...some people are so uninformed. Just stick to NU football...Don't be involved in any other form of college football. You're clueless. Uninformed!! I watch nearly every college football game that is shown on TV, along with a few I manage to catch live. If that isn't intune with college football I don't know what is!! Just because I can watch the games with my own two eyes, not relying on insight from a bunch of washed up broadcasters (who will say just about anything for ratings), and decide for myself who I think is elite/good and who isn't, doesn't mean I'm misinformed!! You could tune into just about any broadcasted game and I guarantee you one or all of the announcers will jump on the bandwagon of one of the players and annoint him Heisman "worthy", doesn't mean he is!! It's called ratings, and obviously they found a sucker in you!! Maybe you need to skip the same 3 highlight reels they keep running on ESPN, mute the announcers and watch an entire game for once. Griffin is average at best!! Hell, I might even rank Freeman above him!! I stand by my words, "Griffin is overrated!!" I am sure you need to rethink this post. Jim Grobe and Randy Edsall as "washed up broadcasters?" Last time I checked they were both highly successful college coaches.

  12. I think so, I have been happy with the ability of coaching staff to teach and make in game adjustments. Players seem to actually know what they are supposed to do on Defense. BTW, what unit?
  13. How is that possible? The offensive cooridinator didn't watch any film on a future QB? That is one of the scariest quotes I have ever read! I don't think its that weird. They don't watch every single game the kid has ever played in. They probably figured that at some point during his high school career he took some snaps under center, like in a goal line set or something of the such. Most systems have at least a few instances where you take a snap under center, even if they are shotgun/spread based. I guess so, but I still think it is a bit weird.
  14. Wow I am not sure what to make of this. Are you sure you watched the NU games of the past 20+ years? It seems to me that the overwhelming majority of the ones I watched were pretty high scoring. Heck if NU didn't put 40+ on the opposing team then the fans were disappointed. The spread offense hasn't increased the upper limit of CFB scoring, I haven't seen an 80 point game have you? I remember a few 70+ point games in the past and they continue to occur today. If you really like old time football, then go look at the pioneers like Army, Notre Dame, etc. that pioneered what NU did. Oh by the way the forward pass was invented in there somewhere, just took a bit longer to get to critical mass is all.
  15. I was impugned last week for being crazy when I said that Pete Carrol was an average coach. His team just lost to Oregon State who almost certainly does not have one player on their entire squad that would start at USC. USC has a second team that is far, far more talented than is the OSU 1st team. USC has no excuse to lose to anyone. But if the coaches let their team get over-confidant, lazy and allows them to prance in as prima donnas expecting others to bow to their excellence and roll over --- well then your team under-performs, and you lose (when no one in the nation has any right in even hanging with you much less beat you). You lose maybe only 10% of the time, but you lose enough that you do not win the # of MNC's as your talent warrants. Carrol has been and continues to be an average coach. When he has typical talant relative to the teams he played (while not at USC) he posted average results. No evidence of "coaching up" is in his past. And now, USC these past 5-6 years should have won every MNC (based on a huge talent gap over the rest of the nation --- just look at the USC guys in the NFL!) --- but Carroll coached them down. Thankfully Pete Carroll is at USC --- otherwise USC is almost literally unbeatable. hmm, that explains why they couldn't win for nearly 20 years. That also explains why the Oracle John Robinson, who won NC's his first go around, couldn't get USC to win his second time around. That comeback is similar to if TO decided to come back and didn't win.

  17. True, but if they land Michael's that will keep them in at least the top 20. Sounds like another Callahan down there. Can recruit, but may have trouble coaching up his players. Except that Callahan really couldn't recruit that well --- his recruiting prowess is urban legend --- not real but just sounds good. Once again, Robsker swoops in to put his .02 cents on how talentless our team is.
  18. Why don't they allow this? Do you (or anyone else) know? One of the main reasons is cost. Not all programs have the same resources as NU or other higher earning schools.
  19. I think it is interesting that there were so many NU victory predictions, I think that is telling from what they have seen this year from VT
  20. I am pretty sure Baylor is 2-2, they lost a close one to UConn
  21. This blows, stuck in NY. I guess I will spring for the daily gameplan pass.
  22. I think that is what puts this over the top funny.
  23. Which by the way...... they cant. I don't think he has to do much different with the coverage schemes for VT than he has done thus far. VT is not a team that tries to beat you through the air. A lot of 4-3 personnel sets I should think, this means that any real coverage schemes he has will come out a week later for MU. He better have something for those short quick passes MU likes so much. Maybe a more complicated version of the game plan they used on NMS.
