  1. I was less than "giddy", I knew his track record, and I was hoping that he would do something positive with our team...
  2. even more ironic, I was opening the package that the shirt came in, as I found out the news that Pedey was gone... Wore it with a hell of a lot a pride monday night...
  3. No doubt. It's crazy... Texas and Oklahoma fans agreeing, Auburn and Alabama fans agreeing. That's just... weird! Thanks for the support, guys. This was foretold in Revelations. It's one of the signs of the Apocalypse. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! REPENT YE SINNERS, THY END IS NEAR But we just brought back Dr. Tom!!!! It can't be! i'm not religous in the least, but... The Sheppard has come back to "his" flock.... And thanks to all for their support, good to see college fans sticking together...
  4. Getting Pelini would be a let down to me. who would you rather have than Pelini? I also think Pelini is a poor choice, and it has nothing to do with football. He showed poor character a couple times while he was here, but I could overlook that. The main reason is that a large number of fans don't like him and Husker Nation needs to reconcile not remain divided. As for another choice - I still like Jim Grobe as the first choice. I would hate to see Grobe's spread offense with tons of reverses here. Just doesn't seem right, kinda like the WCO. I think Bo Pelini is the right choice. Get our D back to where it once was, and go with a power running game, with a little bit of the option to keep some of us old timers happy... We might as well keep Cally's sad excuse for the WCO if we hire Grobe...
  5. First of all, he's not a solid coach, maybe a solid assistant coach at best, but cannot, and I do mean, cannot be a HC. He inherited a very good football team from Coach Gruden, and managed to make it to the superbowl, where he faced gruden, and was completely outcoached. I will never forget John Lynch, coming to the sideline, and telling Gruden, "he's running everything, just like you said". That was the first glimpse of his inability to, "improvise, adapt, and overcome" He then managed to take a team, that went to a Superbowl, and proceeded to drive it straight into the ground, going 4-12 the next season. Then, one of the darkest days since Dr Tom said he was retiring, when I'd heard that Callahan was going to be the coach of our beloved huskers. I could spend the rest of this post, rehashing the painful years of his tenure, but I don't need to. He's a bad coach, unable to think on the fly, unable to adapt to changing situations, and when his inability to adapt gets his tail handed to him, makes hamfisted excuses for his failures...
  6. I know Callahan's gone (thankfully), it's just a question of when...
  7. I would imagine the place would go nuts... And in a perfect world, Dr Tom would be standing on the sidelines, smiling...
  8. Sad as it is, almost forgot what that looked like...
  9. I used to love when they'd show the opposing D-lines on the bench, sucking oxygen, and looking like car crash victims...
  10. Damn right I'm grouchy-No, I'm flat out f'ing pissed off. Solich got screwed, Pelini got screwed, and this a-hole & his cronies ran this program into the ground & (at least until today) NOTHING had been done about it. Lifelong NU fan & grad living 8 miles outside of Boulder. Capisce? Pederson, Callahan & Cosgrove have trashed a successful program. I'll pay their airfare, get them out of town! I wouldn't pay their airfare, but i'd sell my grandmother to personally kick them in their ass on the way out of town...
  11. Just as long as we're running the ball. I loved the option, the "ground and pound" offense we had. Knock the hell out of the opposing defensive line, till they're crying for their mothers, then hit the TE on a post pattern for 6.
  12. Again, this is why NU won't be a winning program anytime soon. You're stuck in the leather helmet days. Everything has changed (scholarships, rise of old Big 8 programs that Dr. Tom couldn't beat today, TV revenue, recruiting rules, complex offensive systems, etc..). How many Big 12 championships does NU have in THIS decade? Zero. I know it's tough to get info on how to run a program in antiquated states like Neb., but at least read the paper! P.S. You calling me names just confirms that you know what I say is true. "stuck in the leather helmet days" You're stuck using the same catch phrase to describe what used to be one of the elite programs in 1-A. Wait, are you....
  13. There's a couple of variables there... Who's going to be your DC, and what offense are you running being the major points of contention...
  14. Don't get me wrong, i'm happy as hell that Pedey's gone, but, i'm still troubled... Callahan is still our coach, and when I woke up today, I saw the Pedey firing story on yahoo, and this part troubled me... "Callahan's job is apparently safe for now. Chancellor Harvey Perlman said the next athletic director would decide the fate of the football staff." I'm not convinced he'll be gone before saturday, but if he is, X-mas will have come early for me. That statement leads me to believe, that we'll be stuck with him for the rest of the season. I'm thinking he'd only be gone early if we lose the rest of the games this year, as badly as the past two.
  15. Which wouldn't bother me in the least...
  16. Just wanted to say welcome to all the new folks on here, and I apologize for my absence (life comes at ya quick), not like i've been missed or anything... I'm still the same "stick in the mud" i've always been...
  17. Ok, new kid on the block... Instead of flaming everyone, how about you STFU or offer some constructive thoughts?? Just a thought. Here's something constructive - you still see NU through a leather helmet. College football has changed but neither NU adminstration, NOR NU fans have changed. Dr. Tom couldn't do what he did if there were equal number of scholarships in his day. KU, MU, KSU, OSU, ISU (well, maybe ISU) would not be the pushovers they were way back when. I know you're proud of your history, and you should be. But it is HISTORY. Schemes are comprehensive now, athletes are stronger, faster and smarter. At one point, 80% of Dr. Tom's roster were Nebraskans. How well would that work today? Sorry for the flame earlier, but it's time to face reality. Your 10 years behind and spinning your wheels. NU is living on fumes from the glory days. Your no more special this decade than CU, MU, KSU, or KU to name just the B12 North teams. Back in the mid 90's when NU really had no equal, the majority of those kids were walk on's, to run an "outdated" offense, that won 3 national championships in 4 years. Think about that, if you look at those rosters, you'll see Wayne, Elkhorn, as the hometowns where these players were coming from. How many times did you hear about these O-lineman coming from tiny towns nobodied every heard of (unless you're from Nebraska) who played 9 man football because they're weren't enough kids in the schools. Glory Daze, you sound like Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, and all the other so called experts. I'm glad you took the time to post your misguided "wisdom", but we've had quite enough already....
  18. so only circle jerk posts are ok. you guys really dont handle losing very well. You have a proud tradition (when you are winning), and have the best fans (when you are winning). Sorry to post some reality. Creamed Corn Wow, good post... Did you have a team of monkey's working around the clock to help you with that one? just wondering...
  19. Husker Nation will embrace the decision for about a year or two, then you guys will be bitching all over again about how you wish you still had BC. You should have never fire Solich, i guess he is looking pretty good now huh? Please enlighten us on who you support since you must not be part of Husker Nation and why does it matter to you either way. ok, with all the B.S. aside. I would go with what you have for the rest of the season. At seasons end, see were the program is, and then take action. what happens if Nebraska wins the rest of its games. Each game you beat the team by a wider margin. What would be your thoughts on the team then. Fans would be in a good mood, "husker nation" would be at ease a little bit. I think it is wrong to make a decision when you are upset. Let things cool down and see what you think at the end of the season. I do not htink it is ever good to fire everyone in the middle of the season...because then you are basically mailiing the season in. Well, I would like to see Pedey, Callahan, and Coz gone now, but that's just not going to happen. If we win out, that's not going to ease the natives. That's going to pump up the "moron's" ego more, which is already huge as it is, and give Pedey and the "moron" evidence as to why they should keep their jobs... but dont you agree that replacing everyone in the middle of the season is just mailing it in. Wait until season end to fire people I thought losing 41-6 and 45-14 in back to back weeks was mailing it in...

  21. One of the many things we learned from the Solich firing. holt crap, i just heard that Nebraska was indeed waiting for a "yes" from the new coach. The news conf is now scheduled for 10:00 monday to introduce the new coach, Barry Switzer. This is unbelieveable!!!!! Trolls don't last long When I was a kid my sister had a troll doll. It had long purple hair and a face like May Kate and Ashley Olson. I used to light its hair on fire and stick fire crackers up its a$$. Isn't that the way you are supposed to treat trolls? Well, he is from Boston... this coming from a person living in NJ...you guys have no sense of humor Originally, Valentine, Cherry County, Nebraska, thank you very much...
