  1. From ESPN Since 2000, Nebraska is 2-16 against top-10 teams (1-6 under Bo Pelini), allowing more than 33 PPG, while scoring fewer than 20. Eleven of those 16 losses have come by double digits including six by at least 20 points. They haven't won a road game against a top-10 team since beating Washington 27-14 on September 20, 1997
  2. Quotes from the presser “We’ve got to get some guys to step up and man up and start playing football.” - Bo Pelini “I’m embarrassed with how we played defensively. I’m embarrassed. I apologize to the fans of Nebraska, because that was a joke.” - Bo Pelini “We’ve played other good QBs and they certainly didn’t make us look foolish like (Russell Wilson). That’s on us." - Carl Pelini Carl Pelini on NU's defensive mistakes this season: “It reminds me of Year 1. I’m sad to say that’s what it reminds me of.” “(Russell Wilson) got in such a good rhythm because guys were running wide open. I could’ve made some of those throws." - Carl Pelini
  3. "We’ve got to get some players on the field who are hungry. I’m not pointing any fingers, but everyone has to get better." - Yoshi Hardrick post game presser @yoshi_50Yoshi Hardrick Why me god , all I wanted was a national championship for my senior year ,, still a long season , I'll never give up #Huskers #teamyoshi
  4. Here we go... @YoungDuece_2Antonio Bell @JT_Ayres I guess I'm not good enough or I don't give up enough TDs to get in like the rest
  5. Disagree, Taylor is 16 starts in and still holds the ball like a loaf of bread. He carried the ball 20 times for 61 yards, a 3.1 YPC average with a long of 11. That isn't lighting the world on fire, and isn't enough to overcome his glaring lack of ability in the passing game. Not saying Carnes can do better, or he should even get a chance, but I do know that Taylor isn't a good Big Ten quarterback.
  6. I will support him, his future does not lie at QB, he can play in the NFL at safety or possibly even a WR. I support Taylor's move to the secondary, lord knows they need the help.
  7. What? The first pick he had no one open and tried to make a play he shouldn't have, trying to throw to Kyler Reed while not seeing the LB in the middle of the field. The second he threw to the same flag pattern that we had run the previous two plays. It worked the first time, Wisconsin had it covered the second time, and the third time they were there for an interception on an overthrow, but nobody was open. The third one you could say he should have gone to Burkhead, but he had Kinnie. The problem was that Taylor threw it like it was an out and Kinnie kept going. We didn't just have guys running wide open. We did in the first quarter, when Taylor was on the money, but they were running free because of our running game. We abandoned that running game at the first sign of trouble, and everything fell apart. We had 99 rushing yards going into the fourth quarter I believe - we will lose every single game the rest of the year if that is our rushing output. BS, on the overthrow pick the underneath receiver had settled nicely and had a cushion, easy completion. Taylor looks just as bad as last year with his pocket presence, he jumps around, has no feeling for pressure, no ability to read a D, no fundamentals in throwing. He has no business leading a supposed top 10 team as a QB, NU's seen better pocket presence and poise from freshmen against Bo's "Blackshirts" than Taylor had in his 16th start against a mediocre defense.
  8. Okay, so this is really Bo's postgame from the first Big 12 game he coached against Missouri back in 08, but similar effort and outcome. Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini On Nebraska’s mistakes "Missouri was better than us tonight. I’ll tell you what I just told the team. I apologized to the team. I don’t point the finger, I point the thumb. It all starts with me. We got out-coached tonight. We weren’t well enough prepared. We got beat and we got beat soundly. I’m the head of this ship and I take full responsibility for it. I have to do a better job. Our staff needs to do a better job to give this team a better opportunity to win. We’re making too many mistakes and that’s coaching. Once again, it’s my fault. If you want to point a finger at somebody, point it at me because I’m not getting the job done. That’s about all that needs to be said. We got beat. We got beat soundly. They played better than us and they definitely coached better than us." On what Nebraska’s game plan was against Missouri "Execute. We wanted to get pressure on them and started to do that early. Started to get hits on the guy (Chase Daniel), but I thought we needed to make some things happen. We didn’t execute. We had some busts. Our guys weren’t well enough prepared to execute the plan and the plan we laid out wasn’t good enough. Once again, that’s my responsibility and it won’t happen again." On if Pelini was embarrassed "I’m not used to losing. I’m not used to getting beat soundly. Once again, that’s my fault. Yes, damn right, yes, I am embarrased. I apologize to the team, I apologize to the state of Nebraska, I apologize to everybody associated with the University of Nebraska football and it’s my responsibility. I was hired to do a job and I didn’t do that job tonight." On Nebraska’s offensive statistics "It’s not about numbers. It’s about points. We’re not about statistics. We’re about winning football games and we got our butts kicked and that’s my fault." On Missouri’s physicalness "They’re a good football team. I give them all the credit in the world, but we made them pretty good too with some of the things that we did. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not taking anything away from Missouri. Like I said, they out-coached us and they out-played us. It starts with me." On bouncing back "Go back to work. I’ve never quit anything in my life. I’m a fighter. We’re going to come out fighting. I think that we have character in our locker room. We have to get better as a football team and that’s the only way I know how to go about it."
  9. Ty Kildow quit the team to play baseball
  10. I would love to see Crick slide out to DE against Wisconsin and a front line of Cam, Baker, T-Mo and Crick, makes us more physical which will be needed against them. I don't think we need much dime this week, so hopefully Blatchford and Thorell aren't needed as much.
  11. He did not make the trip, just a mistake. The WR's on the trip were Bell, Enunwa, Kinnie, Marlowe, Osborne, Turner and Cooper.
  12. Here's why the Rivals formula is a joke, if Deion Jones were to decommit today, the Huskers "score" would go from 319 to 352, which would put us 50th in the rankings. So according to Rivals, our class would be 10% better if we cut Deion Jones loose, somebody give him a call and let him know ASAP!
  13. Wasn't the entire line, just the interior line. Jones got his man blocked and Sirles had a good block also
  14. Only got to see the end of the first half from the airport in Denver, have to miss the second half now. Doh!
  15. The WAC, MWC and Big 12 pooled their refs for non-con a few years back, most of the crew looks like Burks normal guys. The visiting team picks refs typically in the non-con, so when Fresno comes to play this year, they could technically bring a Big 12 group I think, same with Wyoming next year.
  16. September 25th, 2010 UCLA walks into Texas and runs for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns, and 4.7 YPC. They averaged 176 per game for the whole year. Fast forward 3 weeks Texas walks into Lincoln and holds Nebraska to 125 yards and no TD's, and 2.8 YPC. Wisconsin gave up 146 yards and 0 TD's, and 3.8 YPC. The Blackshirts gave up an average of 153 yards and 3.9 YPC last year. WKU rushed for 179, Texas 209, Washington 175 and 268, so it's not like Wisconsin gave up 200+ or any TD's
  17. Exactly, here's something from last year After the MU game our offense was 6th in the country in Rushing Offense with 295 YPG, 17th in total offense with 458.50 YPG, 12th in scoring average with 38 PPG. At that point we had the 13th and 20th best rushers in YPG, we had Martinez 12th in the country in passing effeciency. At that point our offense was ahead of the defense Total Yardage Offense 17th Defense 19th Scoring Offense 12th Defense 19th Our freshmen quarterback was being talked about as a fringe Heisman candidate and Roy Helu set a single game rushing record at a school that has a bit of history of outstanding rushers. At that point we were 7-1, ranked 9th in the country after beating 2 straight top 20 teams and were looking like a BCS level team. We then finished the year 3-3 and ended up ushering several coaches out the door. Moral of the story? If you're in the middle of a book, wait until the end before you judge it. The beginning may be great, but the ending may suck. And before people try to talk down on the stats above based on competition, remember those are rankings, it wasn't like Oregon and everyone else was playing top level talent at that point in time.
  18. He has enrolled at SMU, he's from California, not much home cooking. Good catch, thought that sounded wierd after reading my post back. I guess that is what I get for trusting Stutterin' Sip. Check out his blurb in the opening post and you'll see what I am getting at. Yep, Sip fixed it on the blog Middleton is a 6-foot-1, 195-pound cornerback from Long Beach, Calif. His profile on his Twitter account says "SMU football ..." and "Long Beach to Dallas" (where SMU is located). He was among a handful of Husker scholarship players left off the 105-man roster for preseason camp.
  19. Nope, we are at 85 now with his departure, not counting Jackson. 15 spots for departing seniors Gilleylen A. Jones Legate Kinnie Caputo Hardrick M. Jones Crick Moore David Blue Dennard Mendoza Thorell Cassidy Current Breakdown Freshmen- 31 (13 Redshirt, 18 True) Sophomore- 16 Junior- 23 Senior- 15 Total- 85 I think we end up getting to 17-18 in the next class, with possibly a greyshirt or two since the junior class is relatively large.
  20. He has enrolled at SMU, he's from California, not much home cooking.
  21. I did this earlier in the year If you look at the top 4 teams in the Big Ten (Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio State and Michigan State) here are the averages DE- 275 DT- 285 OLB- 230 MLB- 227 Here's Nebraska for 2011-2012, we are a bit light at DE, but I think Crick has taken some reps at DE and we could line up Crick, Baker and Moore with Meredith and be just fine if needed DE- 260 (we are light here) DT- 288 (Looks spot on here) OLB- 230 (Fisher 235, David 225) MLB- 230 LSU's 2007 defense DE- 271.5 DT- 302.5 OLB- 232.5 MLB- 230
  22. Bo says Dennard pulled a muscle, unsure how long it will impact him or if he'll be ready for the opener.
  23. FWIW “@FonzieD15: Ima ball til I fall grind time” @Jason_Wacker he tweeted this after your message.... So Idk. You ain't hurt are you Fonzie? @grantsky “@FonzieD15 @Jason_Wacker Naw I'm gud man gbr
