I think Bo is right and Coop was thinking on the fly. If Coop makes the tackle, he'd bring the guy down out of bounds which draws flags like crazy these days! Smart thinking by Coop but poor end result.

I bet our scout team would have a field day against the starters if they ran jet sweep over and over. Scout team WR's would average 7 yards a carry with Nabbity and Frazier looking like Heisman candidates. The scheme needs to be fixed!

JB has played far above any of our expectations. I believe that Corey and Harvey will be major contributors next year but JB has proven that he should be on the field now.

You can't blame a guy for wanting to play. After Taylor leaves, Brion will be a senior and with younger talent above him on the depth chart, he decided that he might be able to help out another way. I'm sure you've heard of Matt Cassel of the Chiefs. He wanted to see the field at USC but had younger talent listed in front of him on depth chart. Not a Taylor hater by any means but it is not a bad thing to be excited for backups to play. This is especially so for the young new talent each year. We saw Brion's athleticism on display in his high school tape and during the 2011 spring game. It's easy to see that he has an arm, that he can run, and that he can throw accurately on the run. It's a shame he wasn't able to grasp the playbook. Supposedly Taylor had the same problem as a Redshirt Freshman which is why the zone read was ran so often but I guess that's another story. Now it's said that Tommy moved a head of Brion because of his leadership skills. Well, again I am very excited to see what our young new talent can do. Hopefully either this year or next year, we get to see him actually play.

This is the first time in a few years that the Secondary lacks a known star. Gone are Prince, Hagg, Gomes, Asante, Dennard, and O'Hanlon. The good thing is that there is plenty of experience returning. P.J. Smith, Courtney Osborne, Daimion Stafford, Corey Cooper, Josh Mitchell, Ciante Evans, and Andrew Green have all started at least a game. The problem is that outside of Andrew Green towards the end of last season and a few games by Osborne two seasons ago, we haven't seen very much from any of these guys. My questions to you all; what do you feel about this year's depth chart? Will this year's team be better than last year? Is there anyway that a star emerges this year? Anyone who watched Jamal through the first half of the season knows that this article is off the mark. Jamal can't even CONTRIBUTE after leading the team in receiving yards! Who's buying that? Don't dare try to say that it's because he played against nobody. He was the only guy consistently making plays against Wisconsin. Other reasons I don't believe this articles reasoning: 1. Bo said Turner wasn't playing at first because he was sick 2. Turner stopped getting P/T after his Taylor comment 3. It wasn't a gradual decline P/T and stats, there was a sudden hault 4. The same treatment was used for Phil Dillard and Courtney Osborne 5. Turners drop against Minnesota is nothing compared to the DROPS BK and Bell had this year If we can't find a way to get Jamal involved, whats the point in going after a Devin Fuller?

Yeah, it's so frustrating watching our offense getting better each week. Especially them shoving the ball down two elite defense's throats just in the last couple of weeks. The biggest comeback in the history of NU cfb? Vs a "very" good defense to boot? Yes, it blows chunks and is frustrating beyond measure. No other major college program would put up with that! Bo & Beck simply don't know squat..... GBR!! Turner is a potential gamebreaker. Desperately could have used him today. You can say what you want but when you're 5 wide in the 4th and you're trying to come from behind with Ben Cotton out wide instead of JT, you're not doing whatever it takes to win

It's not the first time that a major contributor has suddenly vanished from the 2 deep. Courtney Osborne also went from being a solid starter, to not even playing in scrub time. Phillip Dillard started as a Jr but was benched as a senior and also couldn't even get in during scrub time. Now the coaches have the right to not play who ever they want, it's just frustrating to see this keep happening under Bo's staff. Can anyone recall similar vanishing acts under our previous coaching staffs?. If not, what about other major college programs?

Has he seen the field at all? It would be awesome to have him and Bell on the field at the same time

My List #1 Ameer Abdullah - Cory Ross part 2. Ameer has the vision and agility to create something out of nothing. Hr has as hown that he can be a major force and the return game and eill also make a very good backup to Rex. He appears to have it all but seems to lack break away speed. #2 Tyler Moore - It's huge to start as a Freshman on a top 10 teams OLine. I think Jones or Sirles will beak the starting lineup soon but TMo has major potential. #3 Kenny Bell - The first skill position player to start on the offensive side of the ball, KB can flat out fly! He has made huge plays the past two games. He has the moves and quickness to break games open. #4 Josh Mitchel - Not sure how many noticed but Josh played almost the entire game without his name being called at all. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts opposite of Fonzy next week. #5 Jamal Turner - The Husker version of Percy Harvin. We all know what he can do, he just needs the ball ui

McNeill was much more of a threat at tight end where he was usually guarded by linebackers. With his athleticism, he could get open often. Moving him to Wr took away that advantage. Safeties are not gonna struggle with staying with a TE which made McNeill look very average. Kyler has the speed to play Wr but why take away the advantage that has made him so successful?

Fixed that for ya. Swift & Peterson were fine wrs. Sure wish we still had them. I'd have to disagree there. Anyone remember the stats Nunn put up in his career or can anyone remember Frantz not getting playing time after his breakout game against KU! Nunn, Swift, Purify, Hardy, Paul, Holt, Peterson, Brooks and throw in Marlon Lucky and you have a nice collective group of talent to throw to. We just didin't have the right staff and the same can be said about that season's secondary

Free school has been bandied about quite a bit, but I'm not convinced the NCAA would allow that to happen since it's quite obviously a recruiting advantage. And shouldn't this "he's a Nebraska kid" have applied to Baker Steinkuhler and Niles Paul? And if an ISU, KSU, or Ohio comes along and offers after NU slow-plays him, what if he goes elsewhere? But you're still ignoring the basic question: if they all pull their weight, then does that should show they deserved the schollie? My argument is that they wouldn't have been offered scholorships by NU if they weren't Barney's sons and I won't be convinced otherwise. Having said that, they may prove to be worthy of the schollies, but I would have preferred that they walk on and if they proved themselves than award them with schollies. In his second year, Jake has already made a push for the two deep and there's no way anybody can say Ben Cotton was not worth the offer. They may not be 5 star pick ups but both have proved worthy of scholarships in my eyes. I'm happy there was another Cotton to offer

Sorry but i would trade all the depth in the nation for a shot at a line anchored by Suh and young Crick! I'm sure we'll be good upfront this yr but Suh was a Heisman finalists and should have won! Unless Crick can touch that, I'm going with '09.

1. Practicing with Carnes helps Taylor add some wiggle to his running style 2. Kenny Bell, Jamal Turner, Khiry Cooper, Quincy Enunwa, Tim Marrow, and Brandon Kinnie will show that the Wats/Gil theory of throwing to only two wr's is flawed 3. 13-14 Blackshirts are worn throughout the season due to being multiple 1. As a result of our new emphasise on shutting down rushing attacks, the pass defense looks average at times 2. Ciante Evans plays alright but not as good as we expected. Green and Bell end up stepping in often 3. Sean Fisher doesn't show improvement until midway through B1G TEN play

Courtney and Austin were huge for us last year. Courtney is fearless, Austin is dependable, and they both play with a lot of heart. They are both solid players but imagine Courtney at 6'3, 220 or 225! With his style of play, he'd be down right scary! I'm really looking forward to seeing these two play next year!

I'm excited to see Eric Martin lined up at DE before dropping him back as the 4th backer in the 3-4. Bo did it some last yr with a walkon and with Cam and had some success but The Caveman was made for that role!

Picture Courtney at 6'3 215 or 220! His style of play at that size would be downright dangerous. He probably won't be able to hit that weight anytime soon though

That's what we were told. I typically equated that to benching a fine RB because he can't pass. The whole blocking thing Gilmore used was pathetic. The primary job of a WR is to catch the ball but that seemed to be priority #2. It makes me wonder if a Desean Jackson type would have been able to earn major P/T under Gilmore. And to go along with your thoughts Knapplc, a better analogy would be benching a Cornerback because he's not a great tackler.

I'm sure most Husker fans were as confused as I was when it came to Ted Gilmore not giving players opportunities to play. There was the weird situation with Niles playing in one game as a true freshman. There's the Meno Holt deal where he was a major contributor for his first three years, then suddenly couldn't get playing time at all as a senior. There's the Khiry Cooper situation where he merits significant playing time as a true freshman but can't get a pass thrown his way all season as a sophomore. Then there is the biggest head scratcher of them all. Chris Brooks never having a chance to really play at NU. Brooks came in as a big time recruit, leaves as an NFL wr, but wasn't good enough to play at NU. (Some will say that he only made an NFL scout team but you'd think that would be good enough to earn some P/T at NU.) Well Chris Brooks addresses the whole not playing situation here.
