  1. Note to self: stay poor, or at least, appear to stay poor...
  2. I retract a portion of my . She experienced a subdural hematoma. You don't just make that up. It's visible on CT/MR. The physician chose to do surgery, not a decision that anyone takes lightly. There was obvious harm from the accident. IF she didn't understand what was about to happen (IOW, didn't see other participants go through the drill) and some overzealous person decided to knock her off her feet (66 year old women aren't known for their YAC ability), then I could see how there was a failure to provide informed consent. Unfortunately, Beck and Bo likely didn't know that somebody would take the drill a bit too seriously and completely level her so it really is too bad that the situation became so complicated. Even good intentions can have bad outcomes. The part about "punitive" damages does rub me the wrong way though... Bad situation all the way around.
  3. The safest route is always to hold the athlete out of participation. I trust that the staff will make the best decisions based on the information available to them.
  4. It's that the staff must rely on information from the player to make their decisions. Bad data in = bad data out...
  5. Exactly how can they take the decision out of his hands? Part of any injury evaluation is the subjective complaint, IOW, how the knee feels. No testing can objectively show the pain, or its absence. I suppose that they could rest him 4-6 weeks as a precaution... Without having any information on exactly what did happen, all of this is just wild guessing. The terms "sprain" and "strain" are used improperly all the time so take them with the appropriate grain of salt.
  6. If the offense had struggled, I'd be a lot more worried than I am right now. Beck is untested and unproven except for a rather dismal performance last year. Bo will have the defense looking much better within a couple of weeks. It's what he does best. IOW, the apparent weakness of our football team is in the same area where we have the greatest coaching expertise to turn them around. GBR!
  7. For those of us out of state Husker fans, please let us know when/how to purchase online. Thanks.
  8. Online distribution has to be a top priority if they want to seel a bunch of these!
  9. If Carnes is truly #4, perhaps the coaches were trying to protect his confidence last year by keeping him out of games. Playing before you're ready, and the inevitably poor performance and mistakes can ruin the mental game permanently. I hope this is a case of RK3 and TArmstrong showing great improvement, rather than an indication of where Carnes is as a QB.
  10. Is this process not allowed in conferences outside of the SEC? Or, is it not allowed at all and the enforcement is just poor at certain schools or certain conferences?
  11. I think da skers has always been respectful in how he shares his information. Telling someone that they are wrong shouldn't cause anybody in a group of adults to whine, complain, and attack. It's happening here with alarming frequency. If the mob doesn't agree with your opinion, then you evidently don't have a right to your opinion...
  12. The Dude; Care to elaborate on "no"?
  13. Whether or not a person can OD on steroids isn't really the issue. They are a performance enhancing drug, meaning that those who use them gain an advantage over those who don't. EPO, HGH, anabolic steroids, etc. can all be used responsibly and safely, but should they be a part of sport? Unfortunately, they ARE a part of sport and I'd argue that they are far more common than most people realize. The WADA vs. Lance Armstrong case shold be playing out in the near future and I wonder how much effect it will have throughout the sporting world.
  14. Tom also coached in a time where the talent was more concentrated to a few top tier teams. That was reduced when scholarship numbers were reduced and rosters were limited in number. It was a very different era, on many levels. Comparison is "apples to oranges".
  15. When is the expansion due to be finished? This season? 2013?
  16. It seems highly inconsistent by the NCAA to regulate the living hell out of some processes such as recruiting while being quite "hands off" with others like drug testing. , The NCAA needs to get its act together, or be replaced.
  17. Was the 2 gap part of the "bend but don't break" philosophy? It seems that attacking Dlinemen will present a higher risk/reward scenario. More sacks and TFL's, but more plays that get past the line and into the secondary. Perhaps the strength of the secondary this year allows for more gambling up front. Has the philosophy changed? Is it in response to the B1G, or in response to the lack of dominant DLinemen? It will be fun to watch.
  18. It seems that it may put certain "clean" programs at a distinct disadvantage in a number of ways. If recruits know that one program is clean, and another is not, and their goal is to make it into the NFL at any cost, the schools may self-select the types of recuits that they eventually land via their drug testing. I think Pelini is seen as a person who is very likely running a clean program and would not put up with PED's. There are other programs, and conferences, with a significantly different reputation. Without an independent 3rd party keeping the testing consistent, it leaves a lot of room for speculation. Do I think most 18 year old kids would juice if they thought they could get away with it? Absolutely yes. There's a lot of $$$ and fame on the line and PED's are a HUGE advantage.
  19. With the varying degrees of "institutional control" it seems to be a very bad idea to leave the Universities to perform and monitor their own drug controls. How much faith would anybody have if each cycling team was responsible for their own drug testing. I am surprised that the NCAA does not fill this role more substantially, at least with PED's, and perform consistent testing across the universities under their system. Or, maybe they don't want to mess with the cash cow...
  20. That's deep. I'm too busy watching a tantrum unfold to really contemplate Nietzsche right now.
  21. Ok, so we agree to pity each other, for various reasons. I'm OK with that.
  22. Who is whining? If you want to live in the past, be my guest. There should be no need to even watch the games in 2012 since we were so awesome in 1995. Just watch those games on Youtube and give yourself high 5's until you're happy. I simply voiced an opinion that living in 1995 is a bit weak, for individuals and fan bases, a full 17 years after the glory. My opinion is unchanged, despite your attemps to twist my words into a scenario where I have no respect or admiration for the past. I have great respect for Husker football, and it's history. I've been a fan for 30 years and some tantrum by a mod on a message board will not affect my fan status, nor my opinion.
