  1. I thought you played well in all aspects of the game (offense, defense, special teams). It was good to see Nebraska getting back to playing the way most were used to seeing Nebraska play which is explosive plays from a good quarterback complimented by good defense. Don't get ahead of yourselves though, lots of football still to be played. Congrats on the win, your team looked great. I can't wait for next weekend's game against Texas.
  2. Down South here, we learned that Nebraska is the class of the Big XII and the Big Ten(eleven) will be a better conference once the Blackshirts join. On a more personal note, here's hoping you crush Texas in October; I'm kind of sick of the excuse making and complaining from Austin. Also, from a Big XII perspective, we learned that the South division is much less secure from an Oklahoma/Texas perspective than it had been in previous years with Oklahoma State and Texas A&M very capable of beating the Horns or Sooners. Good luck next week though against South Dakota State, you only need luck avoiding the injury bug. GBR and RMFT.
  3. That and my eternal disdain for texass lead me to say ROLL TIDE! Enjoy your title game and please feel free to utilize every scheme the pelini brothers drew up for your opponent. I hope that we can disrupt McCoy the way Suh and company did. If McCoy has a down game, there is very little Texas can do to win. This, of course, is easier said than done. Alabama has a great defensive line, but not such a dominant player like Suh. He is truly special.
  4. I just wanted to let you Huskers know that Alabamians understand and love football better than most in the country. The article below is a writer in the Birmingham News. He gives props to Suh for his performance and makes a case for Suh receiving the Heisman. LINK

  6. Congrats to the big man. I can't think of a more deserving candidate.
  7. Absolutely. The award is a popularity contest on highlight reels and statistics for the best teams and not the best player. In my opinion, Suh deserves serious consideration. I would love Mark Ingram to win the award, but he is not Alabama's best player, honestly. Most likely, I think McCoy will get the award as a "lifetime achievement" award which it is not.
  8. Big Horns 24 Big Red 12 I hope I am wrong, but Nebraska just does not have enough offense to match the Texas D. I think Nebraska holds it close for a while, but a worn out Nebraska defense will give up some big plays late. I hope I am dead wrong. Go big red and roll tide.
  9. I really hope you are correct. I will be cheering for the Big Red in this game. Good luck to your football team.
  10. Good win for your football team. Nebraska is improving under Pelini, as I think they should, and I hope will come to rule the Big 12 North for many years. Congratulations to your football team. I will be watching the Big 12 championship cheering for the Big Red.
  11. I was watching ESPN this morning before Gameday and notice the topic of "touching traditions". This was an interesting topic because I know many schools have some sort of tradition of football players touching something as they run onto the field. Alabama players rub a bronze bust of coach Bryant with his houndstooth hat before they run through the tunnel and onto the field. Anyways, the segment showed that Nebraska football players touch a horseshoe hanging above a door as they exit the locker room and go through the tunnel. I was just wondering the significance of this horseshoe since I was unaware of it until this morning. Thanks in advance.
  12. Good to see the big uglies getting respect. In my opinion, Suh gets it right now but the article is correct that Cody has made a strong case lately. Good luck to both players, they should have great NFL careers.
  13. Polls only matter at the end of the season. Just play your games and let the pollsters figure everything else out. Good win for the Huskers, glad to see you took care of the Sooners.
  14. Looks about right to me. I expect Nebraska to win big.
  15. From the South so gotta stick with what works...bourbon (whiskey) and coke. It's okay to drink some beer as long as it includes pong, funnels, chug, shotgun, or flip cup.
  16. Good luck this weekend. I will be watching this game along with the Alabama game. Roll Tide and Go Big Red.
  17. Nebraska can run the ball at will and keep Tyrod contained.
  18. Not all teams will do well or bad all the time. For you it is Mizzou, for us it is Vanderbilt, Kentucky, or Miss. State, but even they have had some great teams in the past 20 years. My point is you can't keep every historically bad team down all the time and you cannot keep every great team up all the time. Osborne was a great coach, but even he did not have 10 win seasons every year.
  19. It is cyclical. Look at the SEC, Tennessee was great from 1994 to 2002, Florida was great from 1991 to 2002, and now again since 2006. Alabama was good 1991 to 1994, and have not made much noise except in 1999, 2005, and this past year 2008. One can even see that great teams fall off eventually in the now ACC. FSU has not done much since 2000, in fact only VT has represented the ACC well in the past three to four years. I still believe, as I have stated before, that the Huskers are on the rise for the next few years and will start to turn many heads this coming year. I hope you keep up the good work with coaches like Pelini; Callahan was an embarrassment.
  20. Nebraska has a great tradition and the support (both alumni & fans) to be great once again. Alabama has been struggling mightily the past decade or so until this past year. If Alabama can climb back into the national spotlight, so can the Huskers. All you need is a good coach (I think you have a good fit, but must be patient) and the proper talent. I say proper because you could have the number 1 fullback coming out of high school, but if your offensive scheme does not utilize a fullback, then what will it matter? I look forward to the day that Nebraska dominates the Big 12 north, honestly.
  21. A wise man once said, "If you aren't first, you're last." Thought two wise men said it: both Reese and Ricky Bobby.
  22. Congrats to the huskers. I cheered for them all the way. Pretty good season for a first year coach. Y'all should be in the hunt for the Big XII title soon.
  23. Good luck on your bowl game. Seems like Pelini is on the right track. A January 1 bowl game is a good start to his coaching career. Go Huskers and Roll Tide.
  24. Hope you get a good bowl game, congrats on the win. I have to say, though, I am disappointed in Pelini running the trick play that LSU used last year against South Carolina. But good game and what a great way to win.
  25. Power football is always a great thing to watch. I am not too keen on "finnesse" football.
