  1. ASU will be competitive early on I'd think, but the talent of the depth chart always prevails. ASU just doesn't have the best athletes. I don't think any of their defensive backs are over 200 pounds or over 6'1", but they're fast. The problem with that is all of our receivers are over 200 pounds and our shortest starting receiver is 6'1", which means we should have a lot of success on perimeter blocking. You can't expect their d-backs to compete with that. While they have more speed than size, we have the size and just as much speed. Still standing strong with a 48-13 win.
  2. I don't think Nebraska will cover, but if it isn't completely over by the end of the third quarter, then the game will be similar to the San Jose State game. SJSU hung on for most of the game, but the depth of NU overpowered them in the end.
  3. Great woo hoo #20! And then you have Notre Dame ranked above USC. USC Further evidence that these polls know absolutely nothing.
  4. Everybody except Colorado (didn't you trail Colorado with two minutes left last year?) And Iowa State And Army And New Mexico It was a joke That still isn't saying much. We still beat Colorado and Beat Iowa State soundly. Iowa State and K-State were the two worst teams in our conference, followed closely by A&M.
  5. Beating A&M last year doesn't mean much..everybody beat A&M. They were like the Huskers of '04 but worse. I think we will be fine and even though his analysis is pretty one sided, most of it is true. Watching the highlights from their week 1 game, there is no way half of those plays would be successful against Nebraska. Now I'm not going to sit here and say that I think Nebraska is just too good for them to handle, but our defensive tackles and ends are not going to be blown off the line like MSVU's was. Our offensive line is also not going to collapse on every play like MSVU's. I also really think the size of their players are going to hurt them. 245 really isn't that bad for a d-end, considering Josh Williams (one of our back up d ends) only got up to 250, but they are small at other key positions especially defensively I noticed. Plus, the biggest thing is that it all comes down to coaching. Expect them to keep the score close through the first series, but come fourth quarter we'll be rolling and putting in the reserves, getting ready for another 50 yard CG run
  6. This is by far my biggest complaint when you encompass all of the changes for this year. I really do not like the way it looks on the press box, at all. It looks really tacky and out of place. Also, I really wish they would get rid of the advertisements on the big screen and solely do them on the ribbon boards. I think the ribbon boards are fine, but if you are going to devote most of the game to displaying advertisements on the ribbon board, then maybe you can open up the big screen a bit more. For example, add the score, down and yards to go, and the clock time to the bottom of the screen, and then make the rest the football game.
  7. Without question. He is going to be a forced to be reckoned with. Young guys getting a lot of PT means a lot of years and opportunities ahead of them. I'll even go as far to say that Baker gets 2-3 sacks this year.
  8. lmfao I love how everybody is seeing all the stars aligning,
  9. These rankins make little to no sense to me. How Notre Dame beats a middle of the road Nevada team and leap frogs us to number 18 is beyond me. I think Miami deserves that spot way more. BYU to number 9? They did a great job agaisnt OU, but to say they are the ninth best team in the country? I think most of the rankings are fair, but those two especially the Notre Dame jump cry foul play.
  10. Yeah but the problem is that the voters do base it off of a talent and their own subjective thoughts. "That team upset Oklahoma by one point and Oklahoma was without their Hypesman winner Sam Bradford? Simple a fluke!" Utah's situation from last year is a great example. Plus, obviously they just love basing it off speculation. Nebraska ended the season not ranked in the top 25, and came in ranked in the top 25. Opinions matter too much in college football.
  11. Great to have you back in the stadium! Where do you live now? I think you'll really enjoy the new stadium. The ribbon boards are very nice and they don't take away from the game. They have really incorporated them well. I'm honestly not a big fan of they way they redesigned the sky boxes. Where they have all our conference and national championships is now lined by a red background with white slashes on the outer rims. I assume some people may like it, I personally liked it the old way.
  12. Arkahusker, what up? I live close to Searcy. Nice to have you aboard. ASU will be a tougher opponent that FAU. I ahve seen several of thise Red Wolves kids play in HS and they were very good atheletes. Lets not forget that ASU is not afraid to take it ot a BCS team. I think in the end that talent and depth take over and the Huskers roll. Pour me another glass of Peliniaid with a dash of freshmen kool aid!! They definitely aren't afraid to take on a BCS team, but just how impressive was their win against Texas A&M last year? A&M proved to be a fairly poor team. ASU ended up going to Alabama later in the year and getting blown out 35-0. Definitely not saying I think ASU is a bad team, and I do think they'll play us tougher than FAU did, but I expect the game to go similarly as it did with FAU.
  13. That is a fantastic idea. I for one think they should send the band out a couple minutes earlier than usual so the cheerleaders have time to get Husker Power going.
  14. I think BYU was ranked #20 going into that game, so they are already ahead of us. I don't know how much they'll move up though, to be honest. I'll be honestly surprised if they go anywhere below 15. It is too hard for me to say that a BYU team (that pretty much only beat Oklahoma because Bradford was out) is one of the top 15 teams in the nation.

    CU Sucks

I half expected that though. Honestly, I think everybody was so high on CU because of the mass amounts of injuries they sustained last year and because it gave people high expectations. But, as I saw coming, those healthy players really didn't change much. I think they have some really good talent on their team, but coach Hawkins is just not the right guy for that program. Maybe we are speaking too early, maybe Hawkins will salvage the season? Right now, I'd say he won't though. Cody Hawkins is not a good quarterback either. He forces too many balls and seems to concentrate too hard on dropping back into the pocket than actually looking down field. I watched the replay on FSN last night, and there were multiple times that he would hike the ball, turn around, run about 10 yards back, and then spin around to find his receivers. Who the hell taught him to do that? And I don't blame the CU faithful for acting the way they did, this time. That was just an embarrassing game after all the expectations that team had. Maybe they went overboard in some areas, but I think any fan base would be pissed off after a performance like that. Final side note, I don't think this is one of those years that CU plays Nebraska close. Four years ago we won 30-3, three years ago 37-14, the next year was the extremely lopsided offensive shoot out, and last year we only played each other close because CU was fighting for a bowl game and emotions were high with the seniors leaving.
  16. This is a tough call. I mean if you look at who won/who lost in the top 25 this week, there really isn't a whole lot of potential for Nebraska to break the top 20 in the AP poll this week. A few teams were almost upset (i.e. Ohio St. and Iowa) but were still able to hang on for a win. If Nebraska moves up at all this week, it will probably only be a couple spots and we'll linger in the lower 20's in the AP. In the coaches Poll we are ranked 22, so it is possible we could get 20 or 19 in that poll.
  17. Duel quarterback systems fail miserably. Look at Colorado and how awesome they are. Seriously, Green is the backup and unless Lee goes down or is tanking a game (which he won't), it's going to stay that way. Expect to see more than just Helu and Burkhead getting 90% of the reps this upcoming week against ASU. If the game is in our favor come third quarter, we are probably going to see the other RB on the depth chart get some reps. We are going to have to pound the football when we play against VaTech, and we need more than two guys to do it, especially if one guy goes down.
  18. If we lived in that thin of air 365 days a year, we'd be saying the same sh*t too.
  19. I also heard the defense was pretty good. Honestly, and not to snub ASU because I know little about them, this is how I see things. Bo Pelini does a great job in keep players focused on the game at hand and not getting ahead of themselves. He preaches it day and night. Bo would probably say "Beating Arkansas State is just as important as beating any other team on our schedule. Talk about beating ranked teams is for the media and fans to have something to talk about, and it does not involve how we go about our business. We are going to treat this game like any other". I think Nebraska is going to succeed well against Arkansas State. Even the talk about FAU being able to hang with us didn't hold water past the first quarter. The big thing is going to be talent and depth. Nebraska has a lot of depth in year two under Pelini, and is a team that has a lot of prowess. They're young and talented, sometimes making underclassmen mistakes, but making sure things end the right way. I expect we will give up between 250-350 yards to ASU, but will hold them 14-ish points. Not being a homer, that's just how I see things playing out. I think ASU will hang in there for part of the first half, but come the end of 3rd quarter the game will be well in Nebraska's hands. Barring injuries, I expect a big win. 52-13 Nebraska. ASU may have hung a lot of points up on Mississippi Valley State, but that's a team that went 3-8 in 2007 and 2008 and got consistently blown out by other (no offense to whatever conference Mississippi Valley State is in) no name teams.
  20. Three touchdowns, 152 yards on 16 carries, and a 9.5 ypc avg? That is your game ball right there.
