  1. Couldn't agree more. Anytime there is talk about somebody leaving I just say "Good luck and get out of here." Hopefully guys that leave us get put into situations like Josh Freeman, where he ends up going to a school and no matter how good his team is, we still dominate the crap out of him.
  2. Solich ran more option than Osborne, but 97 team ran more because lack of depth at I-back. Lack great I-backs like Green, Phillips and the others from the past. Solich also neglected to utilize key components of the option/run offense which is the combination of counters, sweeps, tosses, up the gut runs, fb traps, and play action. Osborne had play calling that was almost genius, and Solich just loved to run designed Crouch runs and option plays.
  3. Same thing should be said to the guy who accused 70% of our players of using steroids back in the day But that's easy to provide evidence for: (Sports Illustrated, Jan.1991) That's just linemen. It's estimated by others that upwards of 85% of the team was on 'roids. Christian Peter and Dave Rimington also admitted users. (Sports Illustrated, June 1991) Don't want to start a battle here so I will just finish with this. The key words/phrases in your post are: evidence (not the same as proof), four or five, no, five or six (means he had no idea), he "believes", I "think", estimated, persistent "theory" Now, I'm not going to deny that Nebraska ever juiced, but you would be absolutely crazy to believe that Nebraska was the only team that did it and that they were the team that did it more than any other, which makes it just as equally ridiculous to ONLY call out Nebraska. Do you accuse one man of 9/11 or all of the conspirators? Simple fact of that matter is that a lot of teams did it including many powerhouses (OU anybody?) and since your entire post is riddled with no hard evidence other than a few admissions, lets just leave it at everybody juiced and it's in the past.
  4. You can continue to say it too, but you will still sound like a fool. Let's see if you can provide a SINGLE shred of evidence for that inflammatory remark. While we wait, here's a like to the Anti-Defamation League listing of active KKK chapters in the US. http://tinyurl.com/2z2vvf fact"s can only slow a man down, so quit, okay? More fun to make up as you go, like little kid"s can like to do. Plus also people we elect. Some one need to tell FORBE magzine about this new deal so they don"t say COlumbia 8 best of all campus is USA. I would like an stay but need to go get sheet of the line. Late for meting in county by COlumbia. Ever one have nice day . TuffTiger Columbia,MU. <: ( husker98, lean to side an see if this simple is right for KKK since you top expert on such.Thank.
  5. Same thing should be said to the guy who accused 70% of our players of using steroids back in the day
  6. I went to a game at Omaha Burke a few years back and saw this kid play, and he was ridiculous even then. He was relentless and a borderline crazy man. He should do well these next to years.
  7. I was in the south student section. We erupted like no other. Probably the greatest thing I've ever seen being at a Husker game. I gotta tell you though, I went even more berserk when Suh caught that interception and took it back for a score.
  8. Extremely undersized as of right now, but he still has a year to go, and we also all remember Cory Ross
  9. Because we're so awesome. Lol I don't think people are insecure, but when somebody mouths off about your favorite team it's only natural to form some sort of rebuttal, wouldn't you say? Plus, one of the accusations in the original Missouri fan thread was pretty harsh and unfounded with no hard, physical evidence. I, for one, can guarantee I am not insecure, just merely annoyed. First of all, Nebraska never got respect by the people with voices (cough ESPN ) even in their hay-days. People down-played our option game and said we would lose all the time, and would act amazed and shocked if we ended up beating a team handily. Now, to keep the record clear, I could care less what ESPN analysts say because they are just talking heads, but after awhile it will get under anybody's skin. Second of all (and I may be one of the few to admit this) it's extremely annoying to have to listen fans of teams (that have traditionally not been consistently good every year) mouth off now that Nebraska isn't what it used to be. I miss being great and beating the snot out of everybody, but things change. Just because a few teams have started to come into their own these days it doesn't mean they can start running around wildly chopping off heads thinking their team is Braveheart. As one poster said, don't say we will "never be back", when you yourself have never been Lets just play the damn games and settle things that way!
  10. Short of the Tigers (cause they have actually been good recently) that is a brutal combination of teams haha. Royals are and the chiefs are It's OK though, I have some serious faith in the Chiefs now that Hermie is out. My old manager loved the Chiefs and we talked about football all the time. I was saddened to be a Vikings fan up until they made the playoffs this year, but lost in the first round...
  11. Answer: I bet he brought it up because we are all suffering during this long off season and this was the best thing he could think of. I wish he could edit the thread title name and get rid of mascara. It's eye black for crying out loud, and it wouldn't have been too hard to figure out. This should help the OP --> http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Black+Lines+Under+Foo...Players%27+Eyes
  12. LOL The most ridiculous one is "Nebraska itself". Honestly, some people must have liked it if we have been able to bring in 5 NC in the last 40 years. It's not like Nebraska suddenly became a desolate place, and it's not like Mizzou is any better. To be quite honest, most people tell me location has very little to do with anything. All that matters is that their schooling is getting paid for and they are playing at a place that they can succeed. Hell, Florida is a humid swamp where you sweat pellets every day during the fall. At least Nebraska has favorable temperatures in the fall... That aside, who cares what this guy thinks? He obviously doesn't know what he is talking about and is just trying to spark conversation during this long off-season. Let him talk, and be satisfied with the fact that any other college football fan not tied to Mizzou thought that his was completely idiotic.
  13. Meh, I'm not getting involved in this one. I have my opinions, and I do think that SOMEDAY Mizzou will be very competitive again, but to me they need to prove that they can be consistent. Going by Mizzou tradition, they usually only have a few good years and then sink back into mediocrity. They need to be consistent.
  14. agreed. He is too good for that program and without him they will slip far, far, far done. If this is true though I'll be pissed, because next year will be a great chance for us to finally beat Leach..it either hasn't happened or it's been awhile.
  15. When you are Cosgrove, you deserve SOME of what he got, but not everything. Honestly, his techniques did not work, his coaching style did not work, and his arrogance was horrible. "Man, the sh#t I'm coaching isn't working and my players are getting lit up, so I'll just keep telling them to do the same things, give em a pat on the butt, and tell them they'll get it next time!" Yeah..arrogance doesn't go over well..
  16. Nebraska's key to success: Keep a consistently top rated defense year in and year out (I'm thinking Top 25), and then continue to recruit playmakers on offense until we get the perfect combination that will take us to a championship (like Gill, Rozier, and Fryar). There will probably be tough losses along the way, but teams with strong defenses are always in the running for a NC. We've all seen, time and again, what happens when teams care more about offensive power and less about defense..
  17. last notion. Many feel that we'll really miss Ganz. Maybe. But I'm not so certain that his replacement will be inferior (perhaps early on somewhat, but by seasons end, whoever it is at QB should be good). And if the D and especially the special teams are better, than we'll be OK. If our QB happens to be really good from day one, well.... we'll go places. I agree with many of the above sentiments. There are plenty of question marks, but we should be a better team. The encouraging thing is, we saw improvement through last season and we can expect that to continue. Now about Ganz. I don't think we'll miss his skills. He didn't have a great arm, nor was he an exceptionally good runner. We all remember the bonehead interceptions; we won't miss that! However, unless one of the QBs really steps up, I think we'll miss his heart. He was a great leader on the field. He shook off the bad plays and didn't get intimidated by anyone. He had the willingness to do whatever it took to win. He was one of the toughest Huskers the last two years. Its that attitude and toughness that made him a fan favorite (one of my favorite Huskers as well), and that will be tough to replace. Completely agree with the everything and especially the bolded area. He kept us in games, but he also lost some games or almost helped us lose some games (TT and Clemson respectively). If he could be a returning senior we would definitely be favorites to win the North and he'd be a much better quarterback.
  18. If ISU, KSU, or CU wins the North Fro, I'm going sulk in a hole for one year. I'd rather see MU or KU win it than one of those three
  19. QFT That's all it was. With that eye black smeared across your face, you look pretty damn scary. I wouldn't want to fight Slauson with him looking like that.
  20. Once again, you don't get it. This rule isn't against celebrating, it's against TAUNTING. There's a huge difference. But what is 'taunting?' One ref might decide that a player's celebration is taunting, weather or not the player intended it that way. The point is, you are giving refs a very subjective way of removing points from the board. Maybe this rule is being put in place to protect the wee little feelings of the players and fans Honestly though, a lot of refs view penalties in different ways, even the ones we have in place, like holding. One ref might see something and be ok with it, while the other might call holding. Some of you are making it seem like it's ok if an opposing player breaks a huge one on us, stops at our goal line, turns around, grabs his crotch with one hand, pumps his fists, and back-flips into the end-zone. I know the majority of posters on here would not just simply get upset at the secondary for busting a play and would feel insulted by what the opposing player did. It would be especially insulting if he did it in our stadium. Players in the NFL get fined for taunting (and excessive celebration), and because college players don't receive fines like NFL players do, then I don't see the big problem with penalizing this. Kind of funny though, I don't remember seeing Nebraska taunt anybody or be taunted this entire year. Maybe I just missed it or maybe other conferences have a taunting problem?
  21. Fro, just curious about what makes you believe that its theirs to lose considering they were 3rd in the North last year and NU came within an OT of playing for the conference title instead of MU? What needs to change? Has a lot to do with returning talent broski. They retained Briscoe, Reesing, quite a few offensive starters, and quite a few defensive starters. They technically have the most returning "talent" out of any school in the B12 North. Going by returning talent, Nebraska is behind Kansas and Mizzou is behind Nebraska. This is why people have predicted the North to finish like KU, NU, MU, all because of returning talent. Now of course, when it comes to play, anything can happen and upsets make college football interesting. I do think NU beats KU but look out for MU being a sleeper.
  22. Can't say I agree with these statements. Our offense is the same as everybody else's! I'm sorry but I don't see a hole lot of schools using a balanced WC attack like the one run at NU. (And people, we do not run the spread!!!) It's actually pretty unique in the college game right now. Sure there are other WC offenses being run, but no two are alike. Besides if our offense was that common, I doubt we would be 11th in the nation in total offense, and more Big 12 teams would be capable of slowing us down. As for recruiting the same type of athletes as the USCs of the world. Uh, what do you suggest not looking at anyone if they have intrest from another D1 powerhouse? That's a wonderful recruiting strategy. Speed is speed, you have to recruit it no matter where the kids are, or who else may be looking at them. I can't agree with this either. To be technical, and imho, we run a Spest-Coast Offense with a lot of variations. Our offense definitely isn't like any other out there. And didn't Nebraska get chosen for a better bowl against a better opponent this year, even though Mizzou did beat us and make the Big XII championship with their best team ever. Ha, Mizzou and their fans just wishes they were Nebraska. And we don't have Cally anymore, and our team is going to continue to play with passion and hit people. Two things that scare Missouri players/teams. In fairness to Mizzou, the reason they went to a technical "lesser" bowl was because they lost to Kansas but had the tie-breaker over us. That loss to Kansas hurt them, but so did the B12 finale against OU. Either way, however, there is A LOT that goes into bowl pickings, far more than most people realize. Companies that run bowl games follow teams early on and then pick on a better bowl/first pick basis. These companies just don't wait till the end of the season and then pick out of a magic hat, so Missouri really had nothing to do with the fact that the Alamo Bowl chose them, it's just how things unfolded.
  23. You can do what KSU did to beat Texas . . . take out their QB with a cheap shot. Not recommended, KU has more class than that. Speaking of which I HATE the unbalanced schedule with the other division. Division champions should be determined by record WITHIN the division to be fair. Common opponents would be the first tie-breaker, overall conference record second. You hit the nail on the head!! I agree 100%!!! The schedules don't make since. Uhh yeah, agreed.
  24. That wouldn't count with this rule. This rule is to prevent pre-score antics and not what happens after the score. Somebody could have already called Henery's celebration unsportsmanlike.
