  1. I hope that this turns out to be a teachable moment for Husker Nation when it comes to home run hires. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and pray that with our resources at his disposal, he'll be every bit as good as the pundits claim. Let's get behind him and the team and give them every bit of support that we can muster. Now is the time to pull together.
  2. Is Eichorst still working for Wisconsin?
  3. I don't even know what to say.
  4. I really thought that we'd get one of the better ACC teams this year.
  5. My dominatrix says I'm the best. I KNEW that was you on pornhub!
  6. Shoot me in the friggin' head if we hire that guy. We can do so much better on so many levels. This is not a splash hire.
  7. Yeah, I was hoping, and rather disappointed that Bo didnt, for a statement of some sort by Bo thanking this and that and admitting it just didnt work and so on and so forth. Of course it could still come. The way Muschamp handled that was incredible. He knows the big picture. He knew that his interview for his next job began the second he accepted the florida one. Muschamp earned a lot of my respect and admiration because of that. He won't be out of work long.
  8. Judging from the player comments, it doesn't appear that the high road was taken like it was by Will Muschamp.
  9. We flushed when we let Pelini go. This could take a few flushes to avoid a bad bowl.
  10. Ohio State got the current Husker fan favorite from Youngstown State. Saban was head coach at Toledo. Whew....good thing someone wasn't listening to conventional logic. I just threw those two names out, because one is currently the hottest FBS coach and the other is the guy that most around here have no problem hiring. There's plenty more FCS to FBS success stories like that, so frankly the anti-Bohl arguments that I'm reading don't fly. As everyone knows, you can be the greatest coordinator in the world, and it doesn't mean that you'll be a great head coach. The same holds true the other way around. Bohl is proving to be a great head coach, regardless of what people thought of him as a defensive coordinator. This guy ground up FBS teams with NDSU's resources, forgodsakes. Doesn't that resonate with anyone? What do you think he could do with Nebraska's resources? Before dismissing his first-year record at Wyoming, has anyone here bothered to see what he inherited? Go see how the Wyoming people feel about him. Go read all the articles talking about how FBS schools shouldn't be scheduling the Bison. Let me call a spade a spade. I think the real reason why people don't want Bohl is 1. They know next to nothing of his accomplishments and 2. his system isn't sexy enough for them. That's really it in a nutshell. Let me ask a simple question: What makes you think that a geographically-challenged Nebraska can be competitive running the same offenses that other schools in less challenged areas run? Given that their coaches are better than ours (because we have to settle for the second-tier) and they can typically get better players, logic says that we're going to lose a lot more than we win against those schools. Nebraska's success was built on being unique and finding a way to leverage a limited talent pool to its advantage so it could compete on a national level. Bohl understands this and can work with it. Did anyone ever ponder how well a big-name coach would do in a place where he couldn't do a backstroke through all of the 5 stars? I think that's exactly why many don't want to come here. They'd really have to earn their paycheck.
  11. If they hire Tressel before this year's bowl game and he doesn't coach...then that counts against the restrictions, yes? Furthermore, if Scott Frost did happen to be the OC and coach-in-waiting, couldn't he coach the cupcake games for us--or were there further stipulations?
  12. Even if all of it is absolutely true, do you think he would dare try something now with all of the world watching? Serious question. I can't profess to know what goes on in the man's mind, but I surely would hope that he wouldn't think that he could get away with anything again.........or would he?
  13. If you feel the need to shoot off your mouth for the world to see, don't be too surprised or upset if someone doesn't agree with you and it comes back to bite you in the ass. It is a quite simple concept.
  14. Yep, and I am with the guy that said we should look past NU ties. Neither Bolh or Frost are the right guy for the job. If Frost wants to come here as an assistant, then I could get behind that. But he isn't ready to be a HC yet. Bohl is another Frank/Bo and is good for lower level schools and won't be able to take NU where it needs to go. Would you care to elaborate?
  15. Eichorst seemed like he had an ace up his sleeve during the press conference. It sure wouldn't surprise me if it was Tressel.
  16. If one listens to the national writers doing their braying today, you'd think that Pelini should be a shoe-in as a HC anywhere. I'd suggest to them that he would be a perfect fit to coach their favorite college team, since we were supposedly foolish enough to let him go.
  17. I really believe that we're going to get an established name as a new head coach. While we may overlook some less-known coaching gems that could potentially get us further, I believe that we're going to go the safe route this time. Who that may be is way above my pay grade. I just expect a known quantity for our next coach.
  18. Absolutely. Color me impressed with how he's handling this. This press conference is not what I expected from him, considering his supposed reputation.
  19. Mr Eichorst, I apologize for my earlier comments concerning your character.
  20. If he could out-power FBS schools like Bill Snyder-led K-State time and again with NDSU's resources, imagine what he could do with ours. Wouldn't it be nice to watch the Badgers powerless to stop our rushing attack for a change?
  21. Supple probably figures that Bo is going to be retained. Enter another puff piece. I'm at least glad that people are finally seeing this guy for what he is. I haven't been reading his trash for the better part of three years. I just can't respect people like him. Everyone knows a Supple or two.
  22. I hope that Walter's first half performance means that his shooting slump is over.
  23. Our basketball fans are hardly arrogant. "Ecstatic" is a better word. Please take all the negativity back to the football thread. There are plenty of people over there to gripe with. We know that our bb team isn't perfect, and that's okay. We have rebounding problems, and oftentimes we play like 5 individuals. We're more relevant than we've ever been and are trending up. Life is good. Long live Nebrasketball.
  24. Once he left Wisconsin, he got into twitter battles with fans. I think that is unprofessional. His wife did the same thing. He cried about Urban Meyer recruiting tactics. Said he doesn't want the B1G to be like the SEC in their recruiting practices. Left the B1G to join the SEC. Hypocritical if you ask me. Talked sh#t on the B1G. Cried a bunch last year about referees in the SEC. Most of the nation think hes a douche. Once again, my opinion. If you are willing to look past all that because you think he can win a bunch of football games, that's fine. I think Nebraska could find a coach that can win and make the program look good, but that may just be me. i agree with you. he is pretty douche-y. probably douche-y enough that we would not want to consider him. i just sometimes think we go overboard with hating other coaches for things that we would probably find forgivable if he was in house. perhaps bret does cross the line. but, i don't know. most of it really does not bother me if i look at it objectively. and, again, i really think this is very hypothetical because i am not sure this would be considered by anyone outside of huskerboard. You're probably right on that. Until he leaves, then we will hate him for it just like Wisconsin fans. He doesn't seem like a guy who would stay at one spot for a long period of time. I agree that there's a lot of sour grapes with Wisconsin fans, however there are many that believe that he owed his success to Paul Chryst. After Chryst left for Pitt, the timing was right for Bielema to bolt to Arkansas before his stock started to decline.
