  1. Heard on 1620 that Bo is down there today/yesterday setting up the visit for this weekend...... Hope we impress this kid..... hope the f'n weather is better....... would be nice if we had a RB coach in place to talk to this guy..
  2. If you haven't had a chance to go to a bowl game, it is a MUST...... everyone seems to talk about $$$, and yes, it does cost a little, but hey..... I do not have a lot of extra dough.... I am a high school teacher and have a family, so I am not "wealthy" by any means.. If you only want to take the "packages", then the trips are fairly expensive.... My wife and I took a "package" to the Fiesta Bowl 7 years ago.....fun yes, expensive...yes.. If you plan by yourself, go with a group of buddies (right KChusker)......the trips aren't that expensive.... We have been to Orange, Alamo, Fiesta, Cotton, "Kick-off Classic" vs West Virginia, and my buddy KChusker has been to Rose also....... I rarely spend more than $700 total..... Plus, if you don't take a package deal, you have the freedom to travel around the city and do your own thing.... I begin saving $$ immediately after the bowl game for next season's bowl game...if plan a year ahead, it really isn't too difficult to go..... KC and I were headed out this season for sure, but I guess my kids and wife get a little better Christmas presents this year
  3. I am not sure anyone can "fairly" answer this poll....... Who on this board has seen Lee/Witt play..... Lee missed almost everything, but "legend" has it that this kid is a stud.....speed and a strong arm......... Witt, rumored by some that he might have been the best of the group, but was destined to RS.......... Ganz obviously has shown us that he can handle the system and game.... He has the "upperhand" because of experience, but until we see Witt and Lee, how can anyone objectively answer this poll.
  4. halfchancetom....what do you mean huske-logo flatscreens on HP.... does "HP" stand for hewlitt-packard"..... if so, have you done a search or anything.....you have me curious..
  5. I say we will probably lose at least 6.... 75%......... this pisses me off, but that is the price you pay for changing staffs....... part of the game.... it sucks that we are losing a bunch of great athletes, but it will be a gain in the long run with the new staff.......can't blame these kids for leaving. They committed to coaches who aren't here, plus we sucked ass this year..... When most of these guys committed, we were winning (early) and everything was okay...then we are at home instead of bowling, and a lot of transition............ Hell, as these guys watch Texas, Illinios, Missouri in bowls, that gets them excited... I expect to lose at least 6, and our class will rank very low in the Big 12........ not to be a pesimist, but a realist......we had to expect it with the change....

    OT Dan Hoch

just a small update on Dan......once agian, this isn't from Dan, but from his father....as I have stated, my brother is/was Dan's baseball coach and is close to the family..... as everyone knows, TO visited recruits this week and was at Harlan....... said Hoch enjoyed the visit, but according to my brother, his dad said that Dan hasn't officially "decommitted", but he is definately looking around....Ron Zook visited him the other day.... and it seems to be down to NU and Illinios... If any "Harlan" people on the board....give us some news.....
  7. I too was hoping Jordan would be allowed to stay and still hope that there might be a chance, but I don't think that is going to happen.......as Dunder... stated, on 1620 the zone, Kevin Kugler, voice of Westwood one, and the Big Red Wrap-up show, reported that Lydon Murtha said he saw Coach Jordan cleaning out his office....... so it was "reported" by a prominant radio host with ties to NU........ still just rumor....not fact, so please don't assume that I am saying this is absolutely the truth...... Kevin and Mike'l went on to discuss the fact that they obviously thought this was a very good sign that Jordan wasn't being retained....they said that they wouldn't understand him "cleaning out his office" if he was staying, unless he was moving to a different office.....possible, but doesn't make a lot of sense... They were surprised that the entire staff hasn't been announced yet, and then speculated that maybe Bo had someone in mind that he couldn't name yet because of ties to another team.....possible bowl games, etc.... they also thought everything must be "somewhat" finished behind the scenes, because you are allowed to have 6 coaches (I think) on the road recruiting, and NU had 5 yesterday......Hopefully it will all be finalized soon....and I am pulling for Jordan..
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Lee have 3 years of eligibility left..... If he is nearly as talented as the "Rumors" and "hype", then we should be okay at QB for awhile.....then, Witt drew great reviews all spring and fall...... I expect Lucky to go pro....but Okafor will be a Husker...and Hulu looks like a scat back that can grab chunks of yards quickly....Castille will be a load for the next 3 years.....look for him to be all-big 12 before he is done. At WR, it is time for this young talent to step up...Paul, Holt, Brooks, along with Swift and Peterson...... I am missing a few more young ones too... OL needs to lose weight, get quicker and develop an attitude..... a lot of young recruits coming in...... I think we will be okay... Watson won't change much, besides adding a running game....the line will probably go back to man-man blocking and not use the zone read as much.....
  9. Tulsa and robsker...... I too have some reservations, and they come from the points that you guys bring up..... I truly do like this staff. I think they have a good mix of guys who..... 1. Brown....has been part of NCs and knows what it takes to perform at that level...plus, I think Brown will serve kind of like "TO" on the field...he will be the "calming" factor.. 2. Cotton.... possible question mark, but OL in past has played well....getting back to pancakes 3. Watson/Gilmore....the 2 go hand-hand QB-WR coaches need to be on same page, and they are.. Also give guys familar faces.... 4. Sanders......love him as a coach. 5. Don't know a lot about the LSU guys... *** I do agree that maybe this staff doesn't have the "wow" factor..... I just think it is a "solid", not super-studded staff.. I do think that these guys will get the most out of the kids, and that is the most important factor.... I too would like to have a "big-time" assistant to come in, but under the circumstances, I hope this staff will get the job done... but, I will agree again with Tulsa, I don't think that we can expect a "Bob Stoops" type of turnaround......It will take a few years..
  10. In reply to robsker.......very valid concerns that I think many people have..... I personally like this staff and others have answered why Brown, Sanders, and Cotton were unemployed..$$$$$.....Sanders is the best of the group IMO..... IN fairness, I think TO did have "suggestions" for Bo, but I really think that this is a staff that Bo wanted....It has been well documented on the radio, using direct quotes from Bo, that when these guys parted ways in 2003, Bo told Sanders that if he ever became a HC, he would be the 1st person he would call !!!! and, Bo also told Ron Brown that if he ever became HC, he really wanted Brown to be part of his staff.... So , yes, I believe TO had some influence, but Bo is getting guys he relates to very well......
  11. Yep..... I meant 2003...... my faullt....told you I screw up at least 10-12 a day....... thanks for the correction....
  12. NEhuskers311........you bring up very valid concerns..... I think many people are kind of questioning the number of people "back" in the system..... Your questions are good ones, and I am only giving my opinion on the "answers".... 1st: Ron Brown was here well before 01, and knows how to be part of a NC staff and prepare....they need "experience" and maturity...and father figure around. 2nd: Cotton was a very good OL coach....he is an in your face, smash-mouth guy....coaches hard.... Dr. Rob Zatachza (sp. big time).....gave him ringing endorsements on tv the other night...said we needed to get back to the "pancake" style and Barney is it. 3rd: Sanders.....completely turned around the DB.....helped NU become on the top take-away team in the nation.... He is definately a 'players" coach..... highly sout after , once Pud cleaned house... * Every former player that has been inteviewed lately on the radio......Ira Cooper, Barrett Ruud, DeMario Williams, Lornell McPherson, Steve Safranek, and others have said NOTHING BUT GREAT THINGS about all of these coaches.....even Trev Alberts said this may be one of the bests staffs in the nation once it is finished.. (of course, Trev may be a little biased ) * remember....a lot of guys on the 2001 staff only had 1 year here and did a great job of taking a .500 team and having them go 10-3, including bowl....the didn't even have a complete year with recruiting.....they came in after Pud made Frank clean house.... I think the staff really is going to be great....they are all fairly young, energetic, in-your face, kick your a$$, or give you a hug type of coaches...... the young men at NU will be very lucky to have this staff....and, many of these guys know what it takes to coach at NU...... and the "new" guys from LSU, know how to win at a high level.......
  13. The radio stations and Sipple have used the "word" - "confirmed" on many guys.....but I will feel a lot better when an official statement is made from the athletic department.... Once they announce that Watson and Sanders have signed on the dotted line, the rest is "gravy"....
  14. I like all of the one's mentioned.........especially Frazier's run....I was in the stadium and saw that one live..... That is when he proved he got screwed in the Heisman..... but what about the one that "won" another Heisman for a NU QB: - Crouch's 80 + run against Missouri was one of the best individual runs of all time....it is funny, I was just thinking about that run today after school..... if anyone has a link to that run, I would appreciate it....how many guys did he make "miss"...
  15. You are correct on your assessment....IMO... but, after reading the Dennis Wagner article.....I wouldn't be surprised if BC had a lot to do with this ....Wagner expressed his frustrations with BC's calls , but as an assistant, he had to live with it.......
  16. I for one am a little fired up about the staff that 1620 the zone has said many times this afternoon "confirmed"................ Watson..............YES Gilmore.............YES Brown............. YES Cotton............. NOT BAD..........he was a very good OL coach !!!! Sanders............ YES, YES, YES............my favorite Husker assistant of all time !!!! Sipple also confirmed these guys...............once agian, these hires are only "confirmed" by radio hosts and LJS........ take it for what it is worth.... They are mentioning Jimmy Williams as possible LB's coach.... I like the staff...... He is bringing back "great PEOPLE" whom also happen to be good coaches and understand the "pressures" of coaching at NU....no one should be surprise at the culture......Plus, I think that he kept the 2 best coaches on BC's staff to gap the bridge and to move forward with recruiting and the style of offense that will be fun to watch.....now we will have a defense to match some of the offensive outputs.. Patience, Patience.............will not happen over night.........but it will happen !!!!!
  17. absolutely Wally.....you are correct.....it would be a risk.... The entire state of Neb. would be cheering for LSU....... under the assumption that OSU wins, then by all means Bo should stay away.... Personally, I just don't see OSU playing with LSU......but, this is coming from a guy who just got beat out of my fanatsy football league, so I don't know crap...
  18. Okay, my 13 year old mind, inside a 38 year old body got the best of me.........this may be a little offensive to some and I apologize....but talking about media "slip-ups" on air.....this one was funny... Did anyone hear Reece Davis on ESPN talking about the WVU-Pitt game...... He starts off by saying ....paraphrase to begin..... "Pitt was trying to 'beat-off the men in musturd' "....... then he corrected himself quickly by saying "trying to compete" or something like that.....everyone knew what he meant, it just came out wrong.......and during the next 30 sec., you could hear his voice trying not to laugh..... Sorry for my "sophmoric sense of humor" , but once in awhile announcers say stuff like that, that catch my attention... Please move to the proper forum..... I know that it doesn't belong here....probably in the forum.....sorry.....
  19. If Watson stays, just go back and look at CU's offense....it was a simple version of the dreaded "WCO"...... I apologize for saying that. they pounded the ball and also spread the field, rolled their qb, and ran afe routes....an interview with former Buff qb, and now announcer for CU (just had a brain cramp and can't spit out the name).....said that it was a great offense...... made a qb feel comfortable... If you noticed, LSU ran approx. 10 true option plays in the SEC championship game....I don't believe it was a "triple option", but it was not shot-gun spread/read option either....... not saying that Bo would do that, but LSU did use it.....so maybe he brings a little of Les Miles' offense with him..... Look for a lot less "motion" prior to the snap....
  20. LEt's put a little "spin" this topic then..... I personally, as you have read, don't have a major probalem with him helping LSU...... He WILL make NU his 1st priority, I have no doubt about that....... druing the 3 week dead period, he might as well spend a little time to help LSU game plan a little..... He definately wouldn't be able to take on the role that he is "used" to , but he could, and should be able to help......and of course, if he is on the side-line calling the defense, then no question, he wears LSU gear.....shouldn't bother anyone !!!!! What stinkin' harm does that do....NONE.... the announcers will do more than make up for the fact that he is wearing purple........ and when he gets more gatorade baths and hugs, recruits will see that what he has told them in their living room is the TRUTH..... Now to my spin.....If Bo was the main man all along, and LSU wouldn't have already known about the NC game, would TO have waited..... Hell, if they decided to wait until after the SEC game.....isn't the NC game a far cry more important !!!!! Would you rather have the entire country and NU know that Bo is OUR coach now, and still let him live out his "comittment" to his players at LSU.....or have another month of f'n rumorville, and wait for the announcement after the NC game? During LSU's preparation time, he WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO MUCH HERE anyway..... what does this hurt.... Doesn't the man deserve the right to "finish" the job and be rewarded for a job well done? Personally, I think it would be great to say OUR DC just won a NC....... I am sure, by being a board member for about 5 years, that if Bo decides to help LSU, we will have to endure another on-slaught of "haters" looking for a reason to complain......
  21. According to Channel 3 last night and the OWH this morning, this is a REAL possibility.......If Dr. Tom gives him permission, I think Bo will CONSIDER it....... My guess, it depends on how the next 2 weeks progress. If Bo feels as if everything is on schedule at NU, he will help LSU during the "dead period" and be on the sideline during the game..... If he feels "overwhelmed" a bit, I see him staying in Lincoln to keep things going....... I don't see much of a negative by him coaching..... We need all of the PR we can get...and if Bo can't go recruit, let's have ESPN do it for us... and whatever network carries the NC game.... Relax, everything will be fine.....
  22. I told my version in "rumorville" earlier in the thread that I started on the same topic..... ESPN (we all know how to take those clowns) just said that Pelini was unsure about if he would coach or not... of course, Corso and Holtz went off and said for Bo to stay put at NU... Positive: LSU will probably not go to work for the NC game until after the recruiting period enters the "dead period"....so Bo will not be able to do any recruiting from Lincoln that he couldn't do in Baton Rouge (texts). His staff will already be in place, so this will not be an issue.... The NU players are probably "off" until the start 2nd semester anyway... As stated above, the NC game would turn into great PR for NU and recruiting video for the Huskers..... Plus, the current players might also enjoy watching their coach claiming a NC...because LSU will kick the crap out of OSU... Negative: he is NU coach NOW............ He needs to focus 100 % on this job....although, it is a dead period for recruiting, he needs to use this time to get kinks worked out with staff and make sure everyone is on the SAME PAGE as they entering off-season conditioning..... He needs to be in his office at Memorial Stadium with the "open door" policy to answer questions from the current players who may want to know where they stand... I can live with the decision either way.
  23. Public speaking is not his strong point and neither is public relations....we all knew that coming in.....with that said, I think he did a decent job.... I think he understands that "PR" is not his strength, so that would explain him being nervous. He got me excited.......but, I'm glad I wasn't playing a drinking game called "opportunity" or I would be sh!t faced right now
  24. secretasianman.....my response to your question wasn't directed to "you" in general.....I know that a few statements in the post were "strong" and opinionated...just wanted you to know that I wasn't directing them toward you....just in general....hope you didn't take it as if I was "attacking" your question or opinions.
  25. secretasianman..........thank you for the insight...I appreciate the info....
