I am also somewhat relieved that TO didn't name a coach today..... I really believed him that he said that he "hadn't" started a "search" as of Saturday.....I know, and understand that some things were happening behind the scenes, and that TO has some preconceived ideas....... but, I am glad that TO may possibly be looking at more than just BP and TG....If TO really wants the best person, $$ should not be an issue here....TO needs to find the best possible candidate and pay whatever it takes.... For all we know, Bo may have signed, but is waiting until after the SEC game to announce.... but I really want TO to take a little time to see what is out there... Did anyone hear that Gill's name is being mentioned for the Washington State job? (announced on 1620 the zone)...... maybe Gill is starting to get noticed outside of the state of Nebraska.....Did I hear earlier that Gill was named MAC coach of the year? I thought I heard that....could be wrong , or a joke on the radio.

My sources say that TO is not done interviewing yet........ my sources are not from "inside the athletic department",.....but they did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night obiously, this whole post is wrong......just a bad attempt at humor

Oh....don't compare Cowher to BC and Weiss....HE would eat those two cream puffs for lunch and spit them out as he is chewing Corey McKeon's and Bo Ruud's lazy a$$....Ha Ha... I know.... I really don't want a "pro coach" either..... I just don't want Bill to coach another NFL team...Just as Chuck Knoll, Cowher will always be a STEELER to me and I can't even dream of him on another NFL sideline......so , just to make MY DREAM world right, he needs to roam the NU sidelines for the next 20 years...

I understand, I don't want another pro coach either...just givin' crap....but I am a life-long, die-hard STEELER FAN !!!! who was extremely pissed when Bill retired... talk about a guy with passion !!!!!! He would have kicked the sh#t out of 3/4 of those lazy LB's and DE's.... I hope that plane TO is on is headed east tomorrow to see Cowher !!!

This is one of the reasons TO was in the minority when he voeted against (or voiced) the Big 12 title game.... He felt that it would eventually cost conference teams a shot at the NC.....without doing a lot of homework....I can already think of a couple of times this has happened.. KSU got beat by A-M and got knocked out CU beat OU and knocked them out If OU beats MU, it will knock them out * how high was NU when Texas upset them in the first title game....did we have a shot....hell, I was at the dumb game,but can't remember if we were ranked 1-2... There might be more times this has happened.... I know the title game is great $$$$$, but think of the chances for NC's within the conference we have lost because of the game. I am not saying that I don't want to have this game, but it sucks that MU could (probably) get knocked out and a f'n Big 10 team can "back into" the NC because they don't have to play that extra-game.....especially when that "extra-game" is usually against a very talented team. TO's vision was basically correct.....the title game has cost the conference title shots and larger bowl games.

You may be right with the assumption that Bo may be the first choice because he is the 1st to interview......but it may also be because Bo will be very busy the rest of the week preparing for the SEC Championship, so TO felt the need to get this over sooner instead of waiting.... He understands Bo needs to focus on his own team for at least the next week... All other possible candidates should be free next week....

I know that in an earlier thread, I posted that on a "hunch", I thought TO would bring in a guy other than Bo and Turner.....but, on this topic, what about this.... I was visiting with my wife...yes, she is an avid fan who doesn't nec. want either..why I don't know, but we discussed this earlier... What if TO wants Bo to be HC because he knows he will not accept anything less.... There is no question how TO feels about Gill.... I honestly believe that TO would "suggest" to Bo that Turner be offered the AHC and OC.... Who served as OC in the alamo bowl...was it Turner who ran the offense under Bo? In turn, TO may sway Gill to leave his post at Buffalo to become a ACH/OC and will pay the same $, and I wouldn't be surprised if TO doesn't want to "groom" Gill to become a fantastic HC, or more realistically, TO would probably mention to Gill that he may eventually be AD at NU.....TO would love to have Gill in-house. I know this may be a stretch, but how unrealistic is it....especially since Bo and Gill have worked together in almost the same capacity before....because of this, Bo may actually support the whole idea.

Serious question......not being pesimistic or optimistic here....but if you honestly look at our schedule, and realize that a new coach means a new system....and most of us agree that it should take at least a few years to get a coach completely installed...... how do you think we fair next season..... Are we looking at a turn - around with a bowl bid or another long December, saying wait til' next year... Virginia Tech - at home, but they are a top 20 team who will play lights out defense.... OU - I am not sure where we play....but OU is OU and top 5 pre-season at least Texas Tech - A very good football team who will light up the scoreboard...Crabtree only a FR. (may have a new coach if Leach bolts) KU - Like it or not, this season is not a fluke...they can play...and are young at skilled positions... MU - May be playing for NC...They are good....very good...another "No fluke".... KSU - hate these guys, but play at Manhatten..... pretty young, but lose Nelson..... ISU - this team only got better and better....glad we played them early...heck, they beat CU and we haven't faired well there, even with Frank and a few times with TO CU - young team who will only get better with Hawkins as coach and QB.... * good things are that KU-MU-CU-VT are at home.....not sure about OU-TT * good things are that the ohter 3 non-conference games should allow us to get at least 3 wins...only need more for a bid *** Concerning would be that if you realistically look at this schedule, we have potential to play a very tough schedule with a new coach and system (but a better coach, hopefully).. I hate to even try to predict a W-L record....so I will wait and see what the rest of you say, then I will jump somewhere in the middle

It seems that Bo or Turner have been mentioned for the past month. They seem to be the 1st names mentioned by just about everyone, within the state of Nebraska. The outside publications tend to mention other "outside" candidates, but naturally Bo-Turner have the "popularity" vote in the State. Now, how many people on this board truly believe it will NOT be one of these two guys? This is not one of those "my opinion is better than yours" posts.... Pure speculation and guessing.... We all have lobbied for each of our "own favorite" guy, so this is simple. Will it be either/both Turner and/or Bo or Will it be someone other than the perverbial top 2. I will go out on a limb, and say that I don't see either one of these guys being the HC..... don't have a problem with either, just getting a sense that we may see a different face.... nothing but a guess-hunch.

Tom shatel (dumba$$), the local beat writer seems to think that neither Bo or Gill will get the job....ironically, my uncle who works for the LJS also seems to agree... (but he has been wrong 1000000 times too).... Names listed in the Omaha paper this morning include: Greg Schiano - Rutgers Barry Alvarez - as a possible coach/AD postion Jim Leavit - South Florida Brian Kelly - Cincinnati Jim Grobe - Wake Forest Where they grabbed these names from are beyond me, but they appeared in the paper....they could just be the writer's opinion, which may not be any better than any of ours.

Brent Mussy is a dumba$$ and always has been...... I for one kind of agree that 4 years is not enough though..... I think BC should have gotten canned, but becuase of his attitude,not system.... If the next guy comes in with the RIGHT attitude, then he should be given at least 5 years..... This firing was all about ATTITUDE of the coaches and players, not system. Also, did anyone hear him say the Chase Daniels (yes, he kept calling him Daniels instead of Daniel) should be getting post-season awards when the Big 10 announces them next week..... the dumba$$ can't even figure out names or conferences..... he did correct his conference mistake, after Kirk nudged him..

I am on the record saying that I could "live" with Bo, but I will be holding my breath the whole time... I am not sure he is right for the job...but, in his defense of these "posts" on the LSU boards........... I am positive that if these boards existed in the mid-late 80's, many, many,many Husker fans would have been offering McBride a ride out of town too..... McBride endured numerous years of abuse and "for sale" signs and prank calls after losses during 9-2 seasons They are just pissed down there right now because the NC just escaped them, and I don't blame them....but remember..... the world works under the "what have you done for me lately" philosophy.... so I wouldn't put a ton of stock into their boards this week.... Once agian, I will start practicing holding my breath......

Did anyone just get goosebumps listening to TO's press conference....The man can flat out make anything sound good....even a "job termination"... It was so refreshing to listen to him speak instead of Pud's used car salesman bs..... TO speaks from experience and from the heart.... I thought it was interesting that he said even he didn't feel his job was very secure until the final 3-4 years of coaching (after 2nd NC)...... and that he isn't holding any coach to any other standard than he held himself too.....what a great statement, and testiment to his philosophy.. You could actually see in his face that he was "hurting" a bit that he had to make a decision that would effect many coaches and families, but he knew he was doing the right thing.... He really is one of a kind.. Now, c'mon TO, make the best decision that you can, and get this thing turned around... He is still very passionate about NU football, no matter how many years he "stepped away"....the man lives and breaths NU football, and I expect him to be AD for at least 2-3 years.

IMO, if Pelini is named HC, he will be in Lincoln immediately...... If we hire a HC who is playing in a bowl game, then I think it is 50-50 on whether or not he come early or not......

He didn't go into details of why he was benched....he said the defense wasn't playing well (duh), and BC wanted to take a look at younger guys to see what they could do....... Bowman's response to his own explanation was...... (paraphrase)..... " all I could do was respect BC's decision, work harder in practice to get better, and to do everything I could do to HELP the younger guys get better"..... CLASSY !!!! and top-notch interview.

As much as I want Marvin Sanders in Lincoln.....he may be my favorite "former" coach.....it is well documented and publicized that Sanders is out of coaching for a financial reason.....after being dismissed at NC, he still gets $$$$ and needs one more year out of coaching to become "vested within the state"... His name is brought up almost weekly on local sports talk, and each time, the hosts always say the same thing..... Marvin will sit out 1 more year, then enter coaching agian....all about $$$$$ (apparently big $$) I am not sure about the legality....I am not a $$ guy, so some of you can help me out with this, or correct me if I am worng....but positive on the hosts saying that Sanders will sit out another year.

listening to an interview with Bowman on 1620.....extrememly classy...... handled the fact that he was "benched" with maturity...... taking off the blackshirt.... etc.... What a great interview and a great person.... I wish him nothing but the best.... I truly hope he heals, and performs well at the combine and gets a chance to at least give the NFL a shot..

1. Mark Richt....my #1, but no chance in heck that he comes to NU....but he was born in Omaha, and has nebraska ties. 2. Paul Johnson....just wins everywhere he goes......just read other threads 3. Chris Peterson.... I like his style and enthusiasm...wins... 4. Bo.... I could live with it, but I would set a world record for holding my breath 5. Gill... a guy who has earned the right to be given a chance, but I am a little unsure about him.

Just my opinion....... I wouldn't be surprised to see Watson and 1 other coach stay on (Wyatt)...although D-line was a huge liability, Wyatt is energetic and my recruit well.....These guys will be used for recruiting purposes in the short-term.... TO can offer them a position on the staff, but will probably let the new HC determine in what capacity that they will be used...... Remember Gill stayed on for recruiting, and BC chose to use him as a WR coach... This scenario wouldn't surprise me...

I believe the 1st time we wore all-white was in the Citrus Bowl vs Georgia Tech..... Can't remember the year, but it def. was under TO. Tom Haas was the starting QB......we got beat by Tech.....but the All-white uniforms have been worn a handfull of times througout the years by all of the teams.....with possibly Devany being the exception?

I for one, would be excited to see Paul Johnson come to NU (see many past posts)...... I do have a question for someone closer to the situation or with better knowledge of Johnson... * what type of a recruiter is he? Coming from Navy, he probably hasn't had the opportunity to go out and try to "swoon" the big time athlete.... He has to take whoever qualifies for the academy..... Will he recruit well ?

I just think that if he is going to be so willing to cast stone after stone at the program, he might want to check his own "glass house"...... You lecture me on judging, yet you tell me to have another drink..... absolutely 0 beers today....so far I totally respect what he does on the Rome show, when he openly talks about his addiction and actually teaches across the radio....but I do have a problem with him comparing this staff and palyers and heart, when the teams we all loved didn't actually always do it the right way. I offered my apology to you, accept it or not, but I'll move on to a "less sensitive" topic...
