  1. I amnot down on either of these guys... This is a good problem to have... But, if some of you are "down" on Lucky becuase he "didn't see the field enough for being a 5* player".... That is wrong..... My goodness, maybe he didn't see the field due to the fact that we had a guy named Cory Ross.... Ross was pretty good at what he was asked to do..... So what if Lucky didn't make the impact of "Adrian Petersen"...... I think that some of you guys expected Lucky to be OUR Petersen.... Petersen didn't have to surplant an incumbant like Ross....( I may be wrong....when did Griffith grad.)..... Lucky needed time to learn and get up to D-I speed....... Glenn may very well be a stud.... Yes, he is powerful.....Yes, he was productive in the "role" that BC used him in.....Does that mean that he will be productive as the "feature" back...Not necessarily......Maybe he was not "type-casted" by the coaches, maybe they see stuff WE DON'T.... I know that may surprise a few of you, but I believe the coaches probably know if Glenn can "catch" the ball, or if he offers the "break away" speed, or the "elusiveness" it takes to be an everydown back.... I think that these two guys will "compliment" each other very well..... They will both be used a lot..... "the new "WE-BACKS"...... Kenny Wilson is a guy that both of these two may have to watch out for !!!
  2. A Van Poelgeest reference....classic I remember seeing this guy ride his bike around campus.... It was like a Pee Wee Herman bike....funny stuff...
  3. Nice article in the paper (Omaha) about baseball team.... Says Joba and Johnny look very good at this point... We need to establish depth in the rotation and many defensive positions are still up for grabs.... The warm winter so far should help the Huskers in the early season.. The team has been able to get outdoors more this year than in "normal" winters. Go Huskers.... Road to Omaha
  4. Question: How many "passing" downs or plays did Glenn play ? I am having trouble thinking of many plays, if any, that Glenn was in the game and NU threw the ball....... Lucky was in for a number of different sets, formations, and passing/running plays... As I stated earlier, Lucky if better suited to be the "feature" back, like Ross was... Lucky appears to be more versatile....... Glenn will get a lot of work between the tackles (8-12 plays a game)..... Lucky will carry and catch the ball approx. 20 times a game.... Pass blocking will be key.... Wilson is the unknown here..... He and Lucky will compete in the fall to be the feature.
  5. Just my thoughts: I believe that Lucky will be the feature RB.... (Sean Callahan from rivals stated that BC has already made this "comment" public)...... Glenn will be an 8-10 carry a game rb..... I am still confused why they moved L Jackson to the backfield..... it is probably because with BJ down, we only have 2 deep...... I see them using Leon as a Reggie Bush type of runner (NO, I am not saying he is Reggie).... Wilson will come is a make an impact.... The feature RB will be between Lucky and Wilson....whoever can pick up the blitz, pass protect, catch the ball will be the guy that leads this offense.... Glenn will be a nice "power" back and gets 10 carries a game as stated earlier.
  6. Not that I like to see anyone get into trouble and throw their ability away, but I can't say that it breaks my heart to see ISU have a few players bring bad pub to the program... Beig from Iowa, I have endured a lot of crap about the legal problems of NU's past, along with TO jokes about having players in trouble...... Now, the shoe is on the other foot, and Sir Dan Mac is having issues with his kids..... Just another "hit" to the defense that lost a ton to graduation....but this loss may be the biggest !!!
  7. I agree with a lot of your post, but I am not too worried about not getting a QB... Yes, it would have been nice to keep Freeman..... but only becuase he was a 4*.... at the point that he backed out, this staff didn't have enough time to land a potential "difference-maker"..... I think it was wise to not waste a scholly on an average qb to "only" sign one...... Crabtree said basically the same thing today... He thought NU was wise to not heavily pursue a qb just for the sake of signing one. Now, next year is a definite must to get a top-notch QB.... NO QUESTION.... As far as only having 2 scholly qbs.............. Taylor is an above average qb, and Beck is highly touted (more than anyone we would have signed)...... we will be okay this upcoming year.... and after that, Beck has the reins until the next highly recruited QB steps up..... Just like this year.....we had NO DEPTH, starting with a non-proven JUCO.... 8-4 is not NU's goal every year, but not bad considering the QB position at beginning.... I also think that Ganz will be a very capable backup 3rd string next yr, and maybe #2 after that..... I remember "the Turmanator" doing just enough to be adequate for a week or so..
  8. Solid B.... I agree with ETR..... This staff did a pretty good job..... Hate losing a few of these guys.... and hope that the one's that did sign, actually make it to campus..... All of the guys with grade issues could really turn this class into a very average to below average class if they don't qualify... I think finishing in the top 3 of the big 12 should rate as an above average grade, thus I gave them a B

    Super Bowl

Yes HANC im putting money on seattle. I owe you one !!! Go Steelers !!!!!!
  10. HANC

    Super Bowl

Here's to: "Win one for the thumb" baby !!!!!! Hopefully my beloved Steelers can pull this one out..... I was very impressed with Seattle last weekend, and they pose tough challenge for the steel curtain.... The Seahawks are the #1 seed, have the starting pro-bowl QB, and MVP of entire league.....furthermore, Seattles front 4 on D lead the league in sacks/qb hurries.... If Pitt shows up like the last 3 weekends, I really like the chances, but the 2 week lay-off could kill momentum (as stated earlier by fat tire)..... My heart says : Pittsburgh 27 Seattle 23 Go Steelers * PS, everyone should know that KC Husker is a closet Steeler fan
  11. Hey, NU should beat ISU next year..... their defense takes a big hit.. but their offense (which I am assuming that we will discuss later) is going to be very good... I have made way too many trips to Ames to see a talented NU team struggle with a victory, and have even seen talented NU teams upset a couple of times..... Ames is becoming a tough place to win, but not impossible....NU will have to be clicking onn all cylinders, or this will be another long trip home once again. Honestly, this is a game that the Huskers better be looking at as the "key" game for the North title..... I still believe that even though this year ended extremely well, if ISU had ANY running game the day we played them, NU probably loses that game... in Lincoln
  12. I believe RT is really a true Husker at heart........ just like the rest of us, he just like tormenting the crap out of CU Congrats on your decision RT......study hard, so all of your talent can be put to use quickly !!!!! Good Luck, and hope to see you in the scartlet and cream
  13. I have said from the beginning that I am not sold on BC...... This year, I thought he took strides into really "appreciating" what Nebraska football is all about..... Last year, I felt he was a little stubborn... it was like he was saying it is "my team, and it will run my way, and I could care less about what happened berfore me"..... This year, I could sense that he really started to develop a relationship with the players, university, and fans.... College is soooo much different than the NFL.... I thought that last year, he treated it like a "business" (NFL), but this year, he seemed to be "passionate" and "really cared about kids learning" (college). I am excited about BC being here.... I am becoming "sold" on him and his philosophy..... as long as the OL can block, this scheme will work....whenever Taylor had time, we had WR running wide open.
  14. I would assume that a few current and future Huskers read this board... this is why I absolutely dislike some of the negativity towards the programs and sometimes players... As a coach, I would say that likely no coach reads this board or really cares what "our" opinion is..... can't blame them either....if we knew as much as they did, we would be on a college practice field somewhere instead of sitting at a computer.... As far as the OL is concerned..... LT: Murtha LG: Patrick C: Mann RG: Austin RT: Slauson or Pastuer * I look for Pastuer to be a force to be reckoned with this season.... * As stated in an earlier post, Patrick seems to be better suited to play G than the others, so I have slated him in there.... but maybe he sticks at T and rotates or starts in front of Murtha..
  15. Wow....shake my hand with your right hand, and then plunge a knife into my back with your left hand No problem, I know the Seahawks have the former Huskers, so I'm sure that many "idle" fans on this board will pull for Winstrom and Brown..... I can live with that.... Do me a favor KC, and put some cash on the Seahawks ........
  16. Thanks for the support.......I accidently hid my wifes "lucky" Bronco shirt today..... she was a good sport though......but I am assuming, that the romantic mood may be a little "light" this week, so that will give me more time on the board Seriously though, Pittsburgh looked pretty good today...... Makes me remember a little song and dance from the 70's - 80's...... "IIIIIIIII've got a feeeeeelin', Pittsburgh's going to the Super Bowl".....
  17. Hey thanks for the support KC........ go Steelers but, I did as you told me, and Mrs. HANC got a look at your post not happy....not happy She asked: What time does the Chief's game start this weekend? She says " Have a Nice Day" aaaaa.
  18. Okay, I'll try to make up for my "brown-eye offense" remark earlier The way I see it, if Zac Taylor could name this offense it would be the "CORN-CUSSION OFFENSE" I know, I know, don't ridicule me.... I beginning to buy into this scheme.... but man Zac got killed this season
  19. I am not underestimating the Broncos.... I honestly think that they are a great team, and if it weren't for the obsession with the Colts, teh Broncos would be the big story this season. Plummer has shown this season to be the qb everyone thought that he should be.... Great team, playing at home, 3rd straight road game for Pitt...... Broncos probably will win this one BUT Their from the state of COLORADO and their qb beat NU while at ASU, and my wife loves the Bronc's..... GO STEELERS
  20. Man, I am glad our school colors are red and white and brown and white.. "Brown eye (I) set"...... doesn't sound real good , huh... I'm sorry, just struck me as funny..... I kind of like GPA...
  21. Personally, I would love to see a Steeler and Panther Super Bowl. My beloved Steelers would be great, and I would like to see Mike Rucker and Mike Minter get a chance to return to the Super Bowl.....although Josh Brown and Grant W. would be okay too.... Go Steelers.... Last week I didn't believe, now this week I think they may have a shot, although slightly.....tough to win 3 straight on the road in the NFL, especially in the playoffs and Championship game.... Heard some good insight though....basically, this is the same team that went 15-1 last season....but with a better QB and better RB than last season.....Gosh, that gives me hope, which also means that because I have hope, I probably jinxed them.
  22. I agree with the blocking concept...unless we get a rb who can pick up the blitz on passing downs, we will struggle offensively all year... I know that everyone is excited about next years potential, but the o-line needs to block and somewhere a rb has to block like Ross did... I don't mind the 2-back set.... I would expect to see a lot of motion to slot and motion at the snap of the ball with this method though..... it is unlike BC to just load up the backfield and go.
  23. Totally forgot about Jackson....hope the coaches don't do the same. I just don't know where they are going to use this kid... Hopefully somewhere soon.
  24. maybe the word choice of "realistic" isn't correct. All of the posts above ARE realistic. He hasn't proved himself NFL worthy (post injury) yet.... you guys are right.... I was just saying, try to see the "other" side if he does declare.... and that if he does, it is not like we take a huge hit..... based on this past season.
  25. I agree with all of the above posts. Swift-Nunn will surely be in the mix, and if you had to look at 1 new guy, Purify may be him. Knowing the system is probably the most important factor.... Where to be, how to get there, and when to be there..... Chris Brooks could be a wild-card in the whole thing.....if he gets it figured out and stays healthy. I am excited to see what everyone does next year..... Holt-Henry may figure in.... BC has shown that he doesn't necessarily red-shirt guys who can play.
