  1. Using the logic of our in-state rival, S.C. lamecocks, you will clearly see that you are the NC. Ole Miss beat Florida Vandy beat Ole Miss Duke beat Vandy Clemson beat Duke Nebraska beat Clemson Found this on our board and thought you guys would get a kick out of it. http://thetigernet.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=7172894
  2. a slate-black slow-flying bird somewhat resembling ducks? Yes, you are correct sir. The South Carolina gamecocks are called "coots" by Clemson folk. Coots are regarded as a dumb bird and considered a pest. (They despise us calling them that) We have to deal with the same rationale every year..."If you were in the SEC like us, you'd be worn down like we are when we play at the end of the season." Some of the reasons are incredibly funny.
  3. Clemson fan here and will right off tell you that is a Coot. That "flowchart of logic" can only come from a coot. We get that year after year and have been for decades...consider yourself lucky my friend.
  4. Agreed- BC might have blundered our one-time chance with that win, but we one day will win up there and this year's team is special. James Mays last year was hampered with injuries and we played UNC well in the conference title game. I got this same feeling when CU beat UNC with the Buckner jam. I've already been acquainted with the fine, classy Huskers here so no need to defend them- Grade A in my book. As remote and as unrealistic as it is, I still predict this is the team and the year we win up there.
  5. Now that I am a reborn Husker fan, let me offer the Tiger basketball team to fill in the months to come. Oliver Purnell is a miracle worker and could have cured cancer easier than turning our school into a basketball school. OP is an absolute class act and happens to be one helluva basketball coach. Keep your eye out for the Tigers this season- we are one of four still undefeated and currently ranked 11th(?). We have never won a single game at Chapel Hill but we take 'em this year in their house- at the Dean Dome. Ya heard it here first =)
  6. Count me in as a Husker fan! Do I have to be a lawyer though? Everyone kept chanting "Sue!...Sue!...Sue!...Sue!" every play. That kinda education is beyond my intelligence =)
  7. What about the '90s? I didn't have time to enjoy it- I was too busy b*tching about our program...I try to forget the 90's...bad decade for us.
  8. Let me add this: Tommy Bowden did a lot of good things for Clemson and I was one of his strongest supporters until...he diverted blame and even went so far as to pass it on to his players. Example 1 - Jad Dean, our kicker (Lou Groza finalist yr before), had a kick blocked up in BAH STUN (BC) which kept us from the win. Tommy promptly said in his presser that Jad took too long to kick it... 2/10 a sec late?? He lost my support there Example 2: Last yr Cullen Harper's ACC numbers were better than Matt Ryan's, the Heisman candidate. Cullen was a pre-season candidate this yr. During our impossibly poor performance in the 1st half of the yr, Tommy diverted blame onto Cullen. That is where the inside joke of Tommy's firing "He got what he deserved" came from. I dpn't think undermining an atheletes performance helps too much, especially when it comes from your leader- your coach. In both of those examples, those two spiraled in such a negative manner that it was hard to believe and witness. Tommy, as a grown man and a leader, was dead wrong to pass off the blame for his own good. That is my 2 cents...I owe you some change too
  9. Whoah- now that's flattery at it's finest! But you don't have to convey kindness or class to us CU folk- you've already shown us that here before the game ever started. There is no better fan base that ye 'ole Huskers. So now that I am a born-again (70's 80's fan) Husker fan, who am I supposed to detest out yonder ways? =) One of the best bowl games of the year with two of the best fan bases to be found. Go Big Red/ Tigers!
  10. I'm not too big on being critical of an athlete, but he was bailing from the pocket a moment or two too early. I highly suspect Nebraska's Defense may (call me a fool) had something to do with that????? I've been scared of Nebraska's Defense since the 70's...still am. All in all, we were fortunate to land such a bowl and even more fortunate to get matched up with such a formidable opponent. It's hard to fault him too much in my book.
  11. This first thing this Clemson fan did was to come here to congratulate you and your team's awesome display of a tough, 80's-style Nebraska win. Could have folded, but the great teams never do- and Nebraska didn't. I pointed out that if we had to lose, you guys would have to be my choice. I wanted also say, which I did not yesterday evening, is that your outstanding respect and class as a fan base is what makes me stomach this loss so well. That and CU played well against one helluva Nebraska team. I miss the Nebraska of the 80's and from what I witnessed I think it shall indeed return soon. Very soon. One of our best games of the season and I'll mark it as one of the best in this years bowl season. I am still chewing off my nails....*gasp* Don't let anyone convince you otherwise- you all have been simply fantastic to us CU visitors and I'll say you all are a class act. Thanks for such wonderful hospitality and don't be strangers over at the Clemson boards. My post after the game ---> MASH ME
  12. Dear Lord what a game! Most exciting one for us ALL season. Congrats on a terrific win and if I had to choose who we had to lose to, its to you Huskers and you fans. Wow- now for some heavy heart meds...
  13. Ah what a coinkydink to see TheRealUSC here I was just checking my car's oil level and thought about you! There is some force of a higher level at work that can only explain coincidences like these...
  14. ESPN Classic - CU fan here and thought I'd post it in case one has not seen the infamous last game of legendary coach, Woody Hayes. He punches one of our players and resigns the next morning. For What It's Worth...
  15. Welfare will cover Gator Bowl tickets? I am so there!
  16. Academic casualties- true, but... If you can fog a mirror, you are accepted at carolina. Their problem is they cannot stay out of the pen, unless Spurmier bails 'em out. Imagine the Nuremberg trials except there is no end to it.
  17. that is a fantastic find and post- Made me laugh, thanks!
  18. You haven't seen that copy yet? Oh alright...sigh OK, send it on then
  19. Not so fast my friend! You're just hoping some Husker will upload a copy of "Girls Gone Wild - Nebraska Farmer's Daughters" version. ;-) hah well if that so happens to find it's way there, all fine and dandy. But to be truthful (biting my lip as I type this) I'd MUCH rather find the Orange bowl match up in there.
  20. and hospitality, I wanted to volunteer this kind gesture to you Husker fans in lieu of our upcoming match up. Our last match up with you Huskers was our finest and most memorable achievement in Clemson football. We truly were the Cinderella, or the David in the David and Goliath in that game and season for sure. That '81 match up is very much important to both sides as either a chance of redemption or as a "We've been there, done that before" and I suspect we will garner a large TV audience. My gesture of good will and kindness: I know some have the DVD or a copy of the '81 game and I truly understand how valuable it is. I, therefore, offer my FTP server to anyone who would like to back up their DVD copy for safe keeping...like a safe deposit box if you will. I will not view it as I do NOT have my own copy of this game as that would not be legal. Anyone interested? Please? send me a msg if you are interested in this fine opportunity
  21. don't need to, we've got it on dvd I watched that game during the bowl season last year, and the Fridge is just so much bigger than the other players. And surprisingly fast for his size. He was a major reason you guys took home the trophy. How might a very humble cu guy like me manage to get a copy of that '81 dvd? I guess I shouldn't mention that I do run a ftp server on my local machine that within a jiffy could be set up to receive a certain dvd. Why that wouldn't be legal, unless you wanted to simply archive your dvd here for the sake of having yourself a back-up copy
  22. Man, you guys do take things seriously in that rivalry (well, I suppose rivarly is not the proper term, but you know what I mean)... I was on the field for this game. I was a little scared. How come the biggest guys out there got to wear the most padding and helmets? Just not fair for us 'regular people.' The latter photo is definitely not one of Clemson's finest moments, and quite frankly it is one of our lowest. I do offer one caveat not otherwise mentioned- the USuC player, or coot, had previously brandished a shank just moments before. Even though the coot players are stripped and searched during their weekend prison furloughs for games, this guy evidently had practice in 'keistering' and was proficient enough to make it to the field.
  23. A Husker voluntarily referring to UsuC as the "coots" has made my life complete- I must amend Maslow's Hierarchy of Need accordingly! He would if he were still alive. You guys are turning out to be THE best! Go Huskers!
  24. A couple more ESPN Gameday- Howard's Rock: DPWa2aXQb1A Death Valley roar from two perspectives- booth vs. field(previous record of loudness) GtTGRMv1DmM We'd make some noise for the Huskers! =)
  25. It has been refreshing for us Tiger fans to have intelligent banter with a well-informed adversary with such a reputable football program. One has to remember us Tigers, for the most part, have only the "coots" as our debate opponent. I recall a Ross Perot debate debacle as being a good analogy of the insanity we are annually accustomed to. It is great to rub shoulders with a great fan base that has experienced great football. tigernet.com is our main board because it was one of the first ones and all settled there from the beginning- the format/ layout has not changed in 10 years or so and it probably will stay as-is (Notice the content management system design changed from the front page but the forum did not) because folks are content with it and it works...we like traditions =) Great stuff and I have enjoyed this board tremendously!
