  2. That's just sad you can't realize Switzer was only being generous. There's a reason WHY there are NO coaches who are desciples of the option. If the option was such a wonderful offense then explain to me why Florida St or Miami or Texas or Oklahoma or USC or Notre Dame for that matter did not try to switch their offense to a option offense that won 3 national titles in 4 years in the 90's. Logic says you switch to an offense that is winning national titles and none of those teams did it. Let me repeat that so you can absorb it. IF the OPTION offense was such a wonderful offense, then WHY IN THE HELL did these teams never try to duplicate TO's offense in order to win national titles? If that's not the case, then explain why Utah went to the spread (WCO, however you want to define it) ofense under Meyer. Same thing for Florida, Florida St, Miami, USC, CAL, UCLA, Washington, Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas Tech.
  3. ok, and how many of these coaches had to go out and find a juco qb, cause they had nothing? how many had to use a patchwork OL, DL.....shifting players all spring trying to find linemen who could play? hell man, if should be obvious these coaches inherited nothing for players at skill postions, save Ross.......could be these other coaches had some players to coach?? cally had damn few 3 or 4 star players to bring along, so maybe we need to compare appples to apples here???? hunter
  4. former, you are wrong here.....completely wrong. one year of recruiting has not nor will it not make for instant success.........instant gratification is for juveniles, get real with the world.........any changes, be it in how your company is run or how a football team is put together takes time......be realistic and qive these guys a chance, hell how would you fare if you were told to take over a failing segment of your company and turn things around? i guess if you couldn't change it immediately you should be given the boot too? think about your unrealistic expectations........alot of things have happened this year that are beyond the control of the coaches, think about it......... hunter
  5. if anyone here is stupid enough to think Beck is ready to play, then YOU NEED TO COACH THE TEAM........if he was for christ's sake cally would play him! to think otherwise is just plain ignorant.......hell even Ross said it takes a year for most running backs to grasp the WCO........do you think a freshman QB could learn it any faster? find something else to bich about! hunter
  6. christ folks, let's put this FS crap to bed! move on, look ahead, get ready for the last 3 games, they are big and will determine any momentum we might be able to carry to a bowl game and through the upcoming off season! we need to stay positive and make some head way!! hunter
  7. doesn't matter that he has Beck as his #2, he will still likely play Gantz if Taylor goes down, especially if it is in the last 2 games......hell guys, give cally some damn credit, i don't think he makes that many bad calls now, he has a plan, just not one that will bear the fruits just yet, he is smart to try to keep Beck out of the lineup and keep developing him.........let him coach and quit bitchin' hunter
  8. i agree with stuckin.......it is a player issue for the most part, the coaches are on the O linemen's asses to improve, which causes then to seek any edge (false starts, penalities, etc.) to try to outman their opponent and until we get some damn talent up front we will struggle........we have the QB's and running backs lined up, those are tough skill positions to fill......we need to get some athletes for the O line positions and some DB's and receivers......we will get there, we will slowly improve, leave the coaches to do their job.......remember Coz held Mizzou to 3 points last year, so when he changed things up he obviously saw something he thought was a better approach....he may have used the same defense against OU, but except for another slow start, we were in the game to the end...remember we are trying to stay competitive and have a chance to win ball games and for the most part we are doing that, to improve we need better play from the O line and we are not getting that........all things equal (and no i do not accept mediocrity) we are about where most realistic people expected us to be.......we should beat KU and KSU and will probably fall to CU.........7-4 and a little bowl bid.....and hopefully some new guys to play upfront next year.....waiting sucks, but we will have to be patient........stay positive and be a FAN!! hunter
  9. as stated above, there is no question why we do not throw the long ball....O line can't block and we have no WR with great speed or moves....WR's, OL, DB's, that is on my Xmas wish list for the Red! hunter
  10. hopefully we are recruiting the hell out of O linemen........ hunter
  11. boy one big loss and you guys are ready to throw everyone to the wolves.......hell, calm down, no one likes an ass whippin'......let's see how they respond and move through the next couple games..........relax hunter
  12. will for me, i refuse to get on the bitch wagon.......i didn't see or even hear the game, but can only assume we got "out played" and Mizzou wanted this game worse then we did.....hell maybe Cally and Coz even got out coached a little bit too, but AGAIN it should be obvious we don't have all the pieces to the puzzle...especially O linemen, which i constantly brood about as far as our recruiting goes.....we need to concentrate on filling those positions....anyway, yes we threw a cluker, but the team showed again it can come back.....time to recoup and get ready for the next one.......we can rebound from a big loss, i see no reason why we shouldn't......and i expect a couple more losses, but i still see where we are headed, we just don't have all the players to get there yet....but we will get there...............hang in fans........hang in..... hunter
  13. you are wrong heckler.........blake stays because this is a great program and he will be rewarded for his recruiting and coaching......Miami doesn't need a recruiter and quite frankly Croker runs a slimy program, full of slim-ball kids hunter
  14. i agree, he is doing what needs to be done, getting the players he needs.......this practice will be greatly reduced in the next few years.....give it some time boyz...i think everyone is glad we got Taylor on the field, right? hunter
  15. Jay has been excellent, a real anchor at his spot.......... hunter
  16. no way TT stays in the top 10, losses coming up for them! hunter
  17. two things.........no, we are not dominating lesser quality teams........for 2 reasons, parity is more dominate than ever before and we are still acquiring better players, which we need to dominate and refining a new offensive scheme, yes we are making progress.... the other is strenthen of schedule, we can't change that right now, but by scheduling USC and better teams, which we are in the process of doing, we will get the recognition we are looking for, about the time we get the players and system established which will make us again competitive...... ah patience folks, this thing will change and we will get there, relax and try to enjoy the ride....it will be a bit longer than most of us want...... hunter
  18. you would almost think Gilmore might have some ideas along the lines of who we could still recruit that might be a good fit too? hunter
  19. somewhere, somehow we REALLY need to get a couple big, fast, knock-out tight ends......it would be sooooooo much help to this O next year......focus coaches, focus! hunter
  20. the 2 games left on the schedule i want to win most........Mizzou and Colorado! hunter
  21. yep, that sux.......sounds like they are taking advantage of the fans.....may want to check other husker mechandise fronts? hunter
  22. i admire you guys who trip and follow the huskers on the road.....load up for Mizzou boys and take it to 'em! hunter
  23. check out their board.......very nice comments about our fans in Waco......again we as fans continue to bring pride and respect to the program.....we can all hold our heads high and be proud, we are the embassadors for college sports fans! we need to keep it that way......... hunter
