and part of that was due to a superior conditioning program that a lot of other schools did not have......i think we can all remember when NU would just WEAR TEAMS DOWN AND DOMINATE IN THE 3RD AND 4TH QUARTERS.......it is not like that anymore, conditoning expertise is with most strength coaches today, you need the outstanding athlete/recruit to get it done now, plus coaching hunter

It's always been about recruiting. If you think otherwise, you are fooling yourself. Oh please. Give me a break. You have a copy of Callahan and Co's daily planner or something? Yes, yes it does. You should have spent those three paragraphs talking about he O-line, Sippowitz. I will admit that I have expected more out of Lucky to this point with his ability to find where to run. The players you mention had a hell of an offensive line to run behind. Players don't need everything handed to them, but they need someone to help handle the 11 guys on the other side of the ball. You can't establish the run without solid blocking. With certain members of the line playing like they are, we would need a guy who can bounce it to the outside AND beat a cornerback or saftey to the corner consistently. Ross made a good play on Saturday, but I am pretty sure most of the backfield had gotten sucked into the middle of the field. I will have to check that play again.

sorry, but the backs we have are just fine, the O line is sucking big time, that should be obvious by now, and Cally, prob knowing that too, has decided to pass first and hope the wideouts will start catching on and get comfortable catching the ball......at this point i sort of can't blame him, but Wagner(thks Nmless) better get that damn left side fixed and quick!! hunter

All night my buddy and I was watching #79 do absolutely NOTHING. I never saw the name (I don't always pick up on the lineman, but this game I wanted to find the problem areas), and didn't know who it was. He ran alongside Ross one play, watching him get his ASS kicked, while blocking NO ONE. I read alot of posts, hearing -'s about Thomas. Sure enough, #79. I've seen enough. BC, if you have COMPLETELY NO ONE that can take over the Left Tackle position, you either better cancel the rest of the season after Pitt, or make funeral arrangements for your QB and RB because this guy does not care, doesn't get it, or is thinking about something else the whole game. Can Patrick move in? Helming slide over? Please do something. I have been freaking about the O-Line, now I see a LARGE part of the problem. Hell, put Ross in at LT and let Lucky run it, because Ross may be undersized, but he has the heart of a lion, and would at least sacrifice himself to make an ATTEMPT to help his team. Thomas will not. yep, he has a prob at that position.........i thought Seppo was going to play the left side, until they changed their minds and put Thomas over there?......that was not a good decision by Norvell.......if he doesn't make a change by next game we are screwed! hunter

if we are going to run wide, we need to use Lucky more often than Ross, he has better speed........but trap blocking and running inside is prefered, running laterally against most athletic defenses usually doesn't work, although Ross scored from 57 on that type of play if i remember correctly....... hunter

not to ring the alarm, but we better take Pitt seriously. Wannstedt will bring them in here ready to play...forget their abysimal start, they will test us..... hunter

taylor STILL has work to do, 4 more quarters worth in the next few games at least...got to leave him in there, he still has a lot to learn.....but some receivers who could catch would help.... hunter

it is obvious now what we need..........WR's and O linemen, let's hope the next class has some quality guys for these positions......defense was awesome, congrats Coz on getting them together........ hunter
