  1. Fark. FU interviewing McElwain gives me bad feels. He was my favorite choice behind Tressel. If the JT thing doesn't work out, we're gonna regret it if he's already snapped up. Dude's just a dude.
  2. True dat. And even thought Richt is a great recruiter I'm not sure how many Staffords and Murrys he'd be able to bring to Lincoln. Don't think we have any on our roster right now. More than anything, he just doesn't fit the mold of a QB guru who can develop and maximize our QB play. That was ultimately Beck's downfall, amongst other reasons. I think the most successful programs get great QB play and play great defense. Tressel and Frost both fit that MO that MO to a T, especially if they hire a dynamite DC.
  3. NU, one thing that bothers me about Richt as well is he has had two premier caliber pro-style QBs in Stafford and Murray at his disposal and yet the best bowl win he had during those two QBs tenures was a Sugar Bowl win from Stafford against a vastly overmatched Hawaii team in 2007. We could do a lot worse, but I think reading that is something that would scare most Husker fans, given we always bitch about how good we could be if we just had competant QB play.
  4. Best news so far today. I dunno. I think Richt would be an awesome get for us. The things he's done at Georgia are far more impressive than Pelini's track record at NU. That is, when you consider the caliber of the SEC teams he's going up against every year. That, and Richt is a helluva recruiter. While we were getting ready for the Gator Bowl last year, Georgia pulled in the #7 ranked recruiting class. I'd trade that for the Gator Bowl win last January. But, just my opinion is all. I don't think Richt is leaving Athens any time soon. I don't either. He's got job security in the best conference in football with a relatively easy path to the CCG, and hauls in recruits by the dozen since he's in a hotbed. He's got literally no reason to leave, as it appears he doesn't have the dream of rebuilding the Huskers to the glory days of ole... probably since he moved to FLA and finished HS there. Richt strikes me as the Bo of the SEC... always loses a couple or three games a year he shouldn't and he heasn't quite gotten over the hump Hasn't been to a BCS bowl since 2007. Much better options on the table.
  5. GTFI the BS Page thread... you won't be disappointed!!!

  6. OH. MY. GOD. THIS MADE MY MORNING!!! Welcome back, Tuff. Good luck this weekend to your Tigres.
  7. Good luck with mine, Knapp. Let's see what you've got.
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWFyVFMb1GM source: https://nebraska.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=181&tid=176959511 Is it absolutely crazy to prefer McElwain to Mullen at this point? This guy made some really good points. Point #1 is in direct contrast to the narrative we'd want someone who is the polar opposite of Bo personality wise with this new hire. I guess #2 is a push if he actually finds one of those guys. #3 just ain't happening and I wonder how it'd affect recruiting. I guess my top 3 kind of remain unchanged: 1) Tressel 2) McElwain 3) Kill 4) Mullen 5) Frost McElwain and Kill are pretty interchangeable but there's a bit of a handshake agreement in the B1G about hiring away conference coaches, divisional nonetheless. I wouldn't be disappointed with Mullen, just certainly not my first choice. Tressel HC/ Frost OC + HCIW remains the best choice to me.
  9. One more lame tattoo or 4 loss streak broken joke and I'ma open up a serious can in the shed.

    1. Dr. Mantis Toboggan

      Dr. Mantis Toboggan

Did you hear that Bo finally broke the 4 loss streak? Lmfao lol rolmfao yolo

    2. HuskerfaninOkieland

      HuskerfaninOkieland

I heard Bo broke the 4 tattoo streak and lost

  10. The rumblings about the way this staff and Bo in particular are handling this decision makes me a little wary. Sounds like ish could get ugly.
  11. Nuance, if it makes you feel any better. I don't know that Bo would've allowed a real DC outside his circle of coaching buddies to be hired, especially if they were unfamiliar with his scheme. I think Bo so badly wanted to succeed his way that that may not have been an option. So... You don't have to feel too terrible!
  12. Drink every time SE says wonderful.

    1. Apathy

      Apathy

      No when he says "Ummm"

  13. Pulling off a bandaid. I understand being upset, but all those players and ex-players are reacting emotionally, and understandably. They are setting aside for the moment that Bo has had seven years to make the progress we demand at Nebraska- winning a championship- and has failed to do so.
  14. This is pulling off a bandaid people. You do it fast and deal with the surge of pain (backlash from players and media) but in the long run it's only a good thing.
  15. This is exactly correct.I've always felt he'd have any DC job he wanted, even in the NFL where he has his origins, so firing him was never really a moral dilemma for me.
  16. Hopefully Michigan just sticks to Harbaugh and hires him quickly. Florida is rumored to want Hugh Freeze. Hopefully it's either him or another SEC coach for them to keep their bidding somewhat insular to the SEC umbrella. My personal favorites: 1) Tressel 2) McElwain 3) Kill
  17. Nicely played, Sock. I believed in you! Attaboy. Buy your sources a beer on me.
  18. The thing is, Bo's still going to be collecting the rest of his ~5 mil contract. So they'll have to relocate, which does suck for the kids, but they are not going to be hurting for money. Happy trails Bo. Thanks for your services. No better start to my Sunday!
  19. The wrongs have been righted, boys. REJOICE!

  20. Kudos to X for tearing this piece of "journalism" to shreds. Everything I read you quoted was fine until the last excerpt, when Sip got up on his soapbox. Then my jaw dropped. This guy can eat a bag of greasy Richards. He essentially told fans to STFU, stop being unrealistic ally hoping for more than 9 wins, and lower the bar. Sip goes from pumping up the Iowa win like we beat down some perennial football juggernaut to this gem saying 9-3 protects the WHOLE staff. Sip better hope we never meet on the street, because I'd throat punch this guy.
  21. Have offensive lineman who literally are incapable of doing anything other than false starting, falling backwards, or watching defenders run past them. They're quite adept at running into each other instead of blocking someone, as well. Chaddy's article said SE declined an OWH request to comment on Bo Saturday. Intredasting....
  22. I think the majority (like close to 70 or 80 percent) of us would take McElwain over Bo at this point. The really crappy thing if you're right is then we're stuck with Bo who will continue to damage our national reputation which will in turn make it harder to attract a quality coach. This is a vicious cycle.
  23. How'd that strategy work out for you? He sounds happy.
  24. TO is coming out of retirement. Heard it from a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy. Bank it!
