  1. Living in Denver, I'm absolutely sick to death of the guy. I'm a Packer fan, so I couldn't care less about the Donkeys anyway..... and I don't really give a rat's posterior about his beliefs or not. I just think he's a mediocre player who has oodles of hype around him and won't ever be anything more than a journeyman player. Yeah, I guess if your competition was Kyle Orton, you'd look halfway decent too.
  2. I watched that ASU game in a lounge at Cather Hall with about 50 other guys. I have never before nor since ever seen a room with 50 people in it be so quiet for a long period of time. It was just weird.
  3. I'll strictly limit it to games I've attended, in which case there is only one - K-State 2003. Only because it is the only time I've ever been to a loss. Otherwise, it's been all wins for me (about 25-30). Includes a few Oklahoma and Colorado games.
  4. Jay Sims probably could have started other years.... he was that good. Having Phillips and Ahman Green above him on the depth chart never helped his cause.
  5. Hey, let us have our one de-brief thread. We're all refugees, you know. That said, we should probably leave it all here (in this thread), and only here. All the other members of HB probably don't need a bunch of new guys showing up and bringing their message board baggage with them.
  6. Went back and updated my entry from Dec. 2008... I'm technically not a noob, but I've decided to become active here now that HP is gone.
  7. 2009 Iowa State is an interesting game to watch.... in an "I enjoy looking at eight car pileups on the interstate" kind of way.
  8. I know... I think the last sooner score might have been the kickoff return.... and I was dead set mental! Those were back in the days where the score was never lopsided enough
  9. My personal top fives: In Person: '96 Fiesta, '82 Oklahoma, '93 Oklahoma, '92 Kansas, '00 Colorado On TV: '95 Orange, '99 Big XII champ, '88 Oklahoma, '11 Ohio State, '92 Colorado
  10. Solich's finest moment? There aren't many times where I really wanted to see Nebraska totally rub it in.... but that was one time where it had to be done. I seem to recall that they (Northwestern) jawed like there was no tomorrow all week and had taken a couple of cheap shots or had made some questionable hits or something like that. So we destroyed them, and to emphasize the point, we did a trick play late... was it a halfback pass with Newcombe?
  11. I remember it being 52-0 and then it turned into a joke.... didn't both sides have a kickoff return TD or something weird? Oklahoma was never happy about the score....they insisted we ran it up. And I never had a problem with it.
  12. Where do you currently live? Northglenn, CO Where have you lived the longest? Janesville, WI (1984-98) Where has been your favorite place to live/visit? A tie between Denver and Melbourne, Australia Where is your ideal place to live? Some combination of those two places... Melbourne is a great, great place but I can't handle being 8,000 miles from my family. What is your current occupation? My family runs a music store in metro Denver. What has been your best job ever? My current one, the family business. Worst job? Worked in a call center. Dream job? A professional musician. What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Playing golf, and music. I play bass guitar in an 80s cover band with my brother and I also do a lot of home recording. Strangest/most interesting hobby, skill or personal anecdote? I love golf course architecture, and used to draw maps of famous courses on placemats when I was a kid.
  13. Was in Nebraska bookstore on Sat; they have them there too.
  14. Was good, but covered pretty much the same ground as the More Than Winning doco. Even had Keith Jackson narrating it again.
  15. I'm liking this already.... this has become a fun thread.
  16. In town for my annual game.... in section 41 this time. Crowd was great. For an 11:00 game, it was really rockin'. Last game I went to was Kansas last year, in which that crowd was dead as a doornail. I think we usually get up for the big ones. The crowd is never going to be as spirited for direction U as it is for a top 10 conference opponent.
  17. Checking in here. I have actually posted here previously under another name in years past, but I have not spent much time here lately. Now that free HP is no more, it appears most of the non-Max contingent has chosen HuskerBoard, so it is HuskerBoard for me. I think it is too simplistic to simply say you are either with David Max or against him. While I support the HP site and avoid the Max site, I do not necessarily condone the actions of those who have done wrong in this case. I don't think anybody really does. I think I speak for myself and a number and others when I say that we simply took advantage of the split and decided to use a site that we previously enjoyed, content wise, but could now use the message board. It must be said that there was a large group of posters on the pay site that I never much cared to be around.... it just so happens that the majority of them were Max loyalists, so they left. I have nothing against David Max personally at all... I don't know him. I hear good things about him, and if the facts of this whole saga are indeed true, then it sounds like the verdict is fair, just, and correct. I chose not to participate at the original Pedia, and the breakaway site, because I did not, and do not, feel the $20 is good value for money. There are a number of reasons for this, the least of which is that I do not live in Nebraska and have no use for the special tailgate privileges offered, nor any of the other discounts. I usually attend one game a year, sometimes in Lincoln, sometimes an away game. But the main reason, as alluded to before, is that there is simply a large group of hard core posters and members within that community that rub me the wrong way, and have for a number of years. A lot of these guys are basically the same guys that all tailgate together.... I really have no desire to meet most of them socially. I guess I simply do not fit in with the culture of that community. I feel the football content became a distant afterthought to a number of other things, including politics, personal agendas and vendettas, and plain, old-fashioned phallus measuring contests. I also feel that the moderation was inconsistent. It seems like if you knew David Max personally, you could get away with more abhorrent behavior on the forums. These are all just observations and opinions I have developed, and I'm sure almost anyone from that site will vehemently disagree with me, and would probably go out of their way to try to discredit all of these things. And that's part of the culture.... if you look at some of the threads on HP now, they are full of HM loyalists who have made it their first act of duty to patronize, belittle, and discredit any person who does not wish to subscribe to the pay site. This isn't David's fault, and again, nobody here begrudges his victory in this, which he thoroughly deserves. He just keeps some company that many of us would rather not be around.
  18. Please change it to CheeseHusker. That is my Huskerpedia handle, and the Maxes have regained control of that site, so I do not wish to post there any longer. I don't believe it is being used,
  19. Cannot seem to find the option. The help section says it is possible to do so, but I'm unable to find out where exactly you do this. Advice, please.
  20. Speaking of that, I knew we were screwed when about an hour before the game I got that nervous feeling in my stomach. I don't think fans are supposed to have that happen to them. I normally don't have that happen before Husker games. From that moment I knew it wasn't gonna end well. Here's some intuition for you. I flew home from Australia on Saturday/Sunday. I've just been vacationing there for a month. Being an idiot, I forgot the time difference and scheduled my flight back here to the US on the same day (it was Sunday the 17th there). So I missed the entire thing and had to watch it on my DVR. While I was on the plane, I had a terrible premonition that we'd lost. It was an unshakeable feeling. I got a bad headache, got sick to my stomach, threw up once or twice (this despite NOT eating the airline food) and just generally felt really grumpy and irritable the whole way. I'm not a great flyer anyway, but I was absolutely nuts this time. And it was exactly the kind of game that played out in my mind.... the offense lays an egg, a crucial turnover, a couple of FGs that should have been TDs, etc.. When I saw the game play out, I got really spooked.
  21. I looked at this just now and realized every post bar one was made before the Texas game. This might get ugly.
  22. Kudos to you sir.... you could have really rubbed it in (with every reason to do so, I might add). Don't know what it is. Texas just knows how to match up with us and do everything right whenever they come into this stadium. OU did the same f-cking thing every single year. Didn't matter what our record was, or theirs. I had a bad feeling about this game for weeks.
  23. I hope the reasons for this have more to do with something as simple as changing the offensive system and less to do with personal things. These stories about giving out wrong signals are disheartening, and I hope they're BS. We'll never know. But I applaud Patrick and his family for being adult about it, something that doesn't always happen with transfers.
