  1. Coop is gonna be GREAT. But not this year.
  2. Nobody mentioned the best one of all. Gale Sayers out of Omaha Central. KU never beat us while Gale Sayers played there. NU over KU 42-6 his senior year in 1965.
  3. I’ll start with three. Zack Lee starts (duh) BUT Green gets a series or two in each non-conf game. And he looks GREAT! We’ll see YouTube videos of BIG hits by Thenarse this season——game stoppage, smelling salt hits. Will Henry emerges. And catches a couple of TDs this year. (I admit that I’ve been predicting this for three years now.)
  4. What, no mention of Thenarse? The guy hits like a freightrain. Two years ago Thenarse had the rep as the big hitter--even more so than Asante.
  5. Anyone hear anything out of Terrence Moore/Baker Steinkuhler at DT? Moore might make this more of a battle than expected.
  6. How accurate you think this is? Is Tim Marlowe really our #2 X WR behind Brandon Kinnie? Anyone else think Sirles might beat out Hardrick? Or Terrence Moore might beat out Steinkuhler? Or Rickey Thenarse might beat out P.J. Smith?
  7. I’m glad you mentioned Robinson. I wonder if he regrets/relishes his decision. Same with Harlan Gunn who went to Miami. This article on Robinson was in OWH a couple months ago: http://www.omaha.com/article/20100605/SPORTS/706059808 Nice article. Sounds like Trevor is doing just fine. I wish him all the best. Until we meet ND in a bowl, that is. :-)

  9. I’m guessing the week before the Big 12 sched starts. I think Bo will use this as a motivational tool well into the season. But it is just a wild assed guess on my part. Regardless of when the Blackshirts are awarded, they actually have meaning now. The Blackshirts had lost their meaning by 2007.
  10. I’m just glad to be debating whether we deserve a top ten preseason ranking. It sucked back when we were debating whether or not we deserved to be ranked at all. Or not even debating it. Go Big Red! We're back baby!
  11. This quote from Ponderosa in the 50 Jerks thread nails it:
  12. Damn shame Cody closed out his Husker career suspended for three games. I don’t know if the real reason for the suspension ever got out. It wasn’t ticket selling.
  13. That’s gonna be a great series. But who to root for? I think I’m gonna cheer for the referees.
  14. There have been a few great recruits who committed to NU, only to renege before signing day. Some went to teams who never beat us——or teams that turned out to be crappy (even though we never played them). The most notable recent example I can think of is Josh Freeman. His KSU kitties went 0-3 against NU while Freeman was there. Great QB. Poor choice of college.
  15. Nice find, Vuren. A great article. From an unlikely source.
  16. Fro, you are highly respected here, but please start a new thread with those Missouri players that we have never heard of. I will vote for you though. Offense: Matt Davison Defense: Baron Miles I would say Zac Taylor for obvious reasons and Mike Rucker, just because if i were to have a favorite husker, he would have been it Oh yeah--Mike Rucker, the older, wiser brother. :-) Given the timeline or Martin's college carrer, i think he made the right choice. Sadly, you may be right. On the other hand if we had kept Rucker, Freeman, Blaine Gabbert, and a handful of other notable bailouts over that several year period, NU would not have dipped as low as we did during those years.
  17. Iowa and Michigan State sell out for conference games for sure, and Iowa probably even for OOC. The thing is, Nebraska wouldn't be an OOC game, and even if it was (like, if it was this year), it would sell out. Yeah, I was using the OOC games as an example of teams playing in the Big 10 stadiums for the first time, or for the first time in many years. Like Illinois last game of the season this year with Fresno State. What are the odds that game will sell out? Swap out Nebraska with Fresno State and I’ll guarantee Illini Memorial stadium is packed to capacity.
  18. Too bad the NU athletic dept doesn't auction off used jerseys and equipment--the real ones worn by players. They could raise big bucks. Probably enough to fund a couple of schollies.
  19. If that's what the new Kono looks like I'd like to see the new Steve McGarrett.
  20. Here's how it ended up: No. 1 Florida No. 2 Texas No. 3 Ohio State No. 4 Wisconsin: Football | Basketball No. 5 Pittsburgh

  22. Crouch cocky? Have you ever met the guy before and actually had a few conversations with him? He is not cocky. To those who picked Frazier.... I think Frazier is a horrible pick for this team. He was born and raised to run the option. Watson would not call enough option plays for him to thrive on this team. Remember how most of Frazier's passes had to be dug out of the ground? It took someone as short as Abdul Muhammad to scoop most of those shoe lace passes. Remember a team commanded by him without 8 turnovers lost to a very bad Iowa State team.... If we were an option team still, then without a doubt I would pick Frazier. On offense I pick Shields. On defense Wistrom. Yeah, I agree that Frazier——arguably the greatest Husker ever——would not be a good fit to help out this team. Gerry Gdowski mentioned above by RedSteel would be a LOT better. Turner Gill would light up the scoreboard too.
  23. Stadium Capacities: (hijacked from Nexis' thread) Michigan = 109,901 Penn State = 107,282 Ohio State = 102,329 Nebraska = 81,067 Wisconsin = 80,321 Michigan State = 75,025 Iowa = 70,585 Illinois = 62,872 Purdue = 62,500 Minnesota = 50,805 Indiana = 50,100 Northwestern = 49,256 I think the first 4, probably 5, would be sellouts no matter what--with or without Nebraska. But I'm guessing the last 7 wouldn't sell out for all of their OOC games. Especially games in Oct/Nov if their bowl dreams have already been shattered. And it's cold.
  24. I wonder if that's what he was referring to? Anyway, now it's gonna be a home and away series continuing for a real looong time.
