  1. Marlowe? Seriously? All the reports on Cooper are that he is struggling picking things up so I’m pretty sure you can count him out this year. The coaches and players have said that Paul is clearly the #1 and the rest of them are trying to get to the level he is playing at. How can you not buy that hype yet buy into Kinnie, Bell, Marlowe and Cooper who have nothing to base anything off of buy hype. Just wondering. It's more the fact that in the past two seasons I've been completely underwhelmed at what Niles Paul has done. For as highly rated as he was coming out of high school he should have been an immediate impact player. Instead, he's been average at best. And, for the record the coaches were raving about Bell and Kinnie during spring ball. Furthermore, I threw Cooper/Marlowe in there because honestly who else is there? Wes Cammack?
  2. Man, Northwest Missouri State looked like crap in the first half falling behind 16-0. I stopped watching, my girlfriend needed some "attention," about midway through the 3rd quarter after NWMS scored a TD to make it 16-7. How did the game end Fro?
  3. I'm not buying into the Niles Paul hype at all. I think that by mid-season Kinnie, Bell and either Marlowe or Cooper will be the "starters," and by starters I mean the guys who get the vast majority of the snaps.
  4. I really don't see Florida State ousting Bobby Bowden...not saying it won't, or couldn't, happen though. I don't think West Virginia will axe Bill Stewart after '09-only his second season. Wisconsin under Brett Bielema is a respectable 28-11...the win totals have gone down each year sure, but I still think the Badgers are a solid team and capable of winning 9+ games this season. They certainly play a much tougher version of defense with Bielema than they ever did with Cosdouche. Charlie Weiss will guide the Irish to an undefeated season because grandpa Lou said so. Colorado coach Dan Hawkins will make good on his 10 win prediction by cancelling the upcoming conference schedule and replacing it with 12 teams from the flag football intramural program.
  5. I may not be in the stadium, but I'm there... I watch as much college football as I can during the season. Division AA, 2, 3, NAIA...I don't care.
  6. What a remarkably optimistic appraisal. No cheating is necessary...we'll leave that to teams from the SEC. Bo is righting the ship and more importantly he's doing it the right way. If Nebraska can start beating Texas and Oklahoma 50% of the time we'll get out share of elite recruits. Continuity of our coaching staff is also a huge factor. Kids want to play for the same coach(es) who recruited them. The past 5 years have been tough for the Huskers. Coaching changes, uncertainty and struggling on the field have all combined to make recruiting suffer. Bottom line, we start winning against top competition and everything else will take care of itself.
  7. Beating a top 10 team...on the road. Anyone want to take a shot in the dark guess at the top 10 team, on the road, where I'd like the Huskers to start?
  8. I just thought about this...and maybe this illustrative example will help you understand my position. Remember Nebraska's heartbreaking 18-16 loss to Florida State in the '94 Orange Bowl? Of course you do-we all do. I firmly believe that the loss to FSU was the catalyst for the eventual success of the '94 and '95 seasons-although we, as fans, didn't know that at the time. If we lose Curtis Carter to another school this year it will be disappointing. But if that happens who knows what good fortune will come our way in the future. Maybe we end up signing two or three equivalent players in the following year's class. I'm just saying that regardless of what happens things tend to work out/balance out over time.
  9. I completely understand what you're saying...I really do. Yes Curtis Carter is extremely talented. Yes Curtis Carter is potentially the gamebreaking threat we've been lacking in recent years. Yes Curtis Carter absolutely could develop into a fantastic player. But getting upset and having a meltdown because some recruit picks another school is like crying over spilled milk. Yes it happened, yes it sucks but you clean up the mess and you move on-or in the case of some fans at least try to. And, to answer your question, I peak in on the recruiting section, and post occassional comments because I do like to be aware of who is all out there and who Nebraska is offering. Just so there's no confusion: I do want Curtis Carter to commit and sign with the Huskers...absolutely. But if he does end up at LSU, or another school, life will go on and the sun will rise the next day.
  10. Can't find it now, but awhile back there was an article about what affects recruits decisions to attend whichever school. Location was far and away the top one, but surprising (to me at least) was that the team losing during a visit was near the bottom. The part in blue... I think, and I could be wrong, that recruits are unaffected, usually, by the team they're visiting losing because they probably think in their respective minds that they're better than the guys already at the school and if they were playing the outcome would be different.
  11. Well read this...it's the first sentence: The OP is asking how we, as Husker fans, think Kansas State will do against Nebraska. Which is a fine topic...it just doesn't belong on the main Nebraska football page.
  12. Zac Lee starts the season as the #1 QB, suffers a season ending injury in the 4th game, Cody Green takes over as a true freshman and becomes the second coming of Tommie Frazier.
  13. If only there was a forum where we could talk about other teams in the Big 12.
  14. Dailey, bust. Witt, too soon to tell. Beck, bust. Glenn, we will never know... still a secret. hmmm, mostly QBs too... thats weird. Glenn is now playing LB in the NFL and has a 4 year contract...I'd say that qualifies as a success. To the point of the thread: DeAngelo Evans...bust. Terrell Farley...bust.
  15. I want to see Nebraska beat Missouri as well, but there is no way I'd give up any body parts to make it happen. skerfan1705, are you crazy?
  16. Ha, you edited your post! Backing off your statement? What choo talkin' 'bout Willis?
  17. Meltdown of epic proportions would follow. Some of us would shrug our shoulders and move on... (Realizing that despite the "castastrophe" the sun will still rise the following day and life will somehow go on.)
  18. And I'm "outraged" that this absurd thread has 40+ posts
  19. I didn't realize that Fabian and Latravias were cousins... Somehow that little tidbit never made it onto my radar. Oh and to the point of the original post: If Cody Green is going to be the #2 QB and not redshirt then he better play enough to make it worthwhile. I can envision packages where CG lines up at WR or even TE on passing plays.
  20. I answered very abruptly the first time so now I'll expound on why what's happening in recruiting doesn't worry me. * Some of our targets have chosen Oklahoma State over Nebraska that's true. But they've also picked the Cowboys over Oklahoma, LSU, Texas A&M, etc. The #1 rated MLB in the country, Jeff Luc, from Florida has about 50 offers including one from Nebraska. Now, whichever school he does pick, means there will be 49 "losers." * The current thinking seems to be that because we're not receiving a commit from player a that player b will be worse or not as good. While that may be true in some cases I sincerely doubt that's it's true in every case. The fact is in any given class only about 50% actually pan out and see the field due to attrition: injuries, transfers, academic issues, lack of work ethic, off the field issues, etc. * I believe that the really, really good players, for the most part, exceptions duly noted, wait until they get into the season, after they've taken all their visits to commit. The reason is simple: A lot can happen during the course of a season. Remember how great our '08 recruiting class was shaping up to be? We had Blaine Gabbert, Jonas Grey and a host of other extremely highly rated players committed. And then the disaster of the '07 season happened. Gabbert went to Missouri, Grey went to Notre Dame and the class was in shambles. Bo and the new staff came in an ended up putting together a very solid class in a short time. The point is, some of these players committed to other schools could still end up being Huskers if the schools they committed to end up with a clone of Nebraska's '07 season where the coaching staff that player had committed to is fired.
  21. I almost choked on my Mtn. Dew when I saw that photo...very well done!
