  1. So you really have no idea how you will feel if NU wins 0-5 games this season? You have no idea how you will feel if they win 10-14 games this season? Come on...Everyone will be pissed if its 0-5 wins...everyone will be creaming their jorts if its 10-14 wins. The problem is...6-9 wins is where the "arguing" will be. For me...I am putting on my crappiest pair of jorts because I am expecting to cream.
  2. They do a HUGE tailgate/party in their back lot on game day...band...bars...huge TV set up...its a great time
  3. I don't really see that as being the point that people are making. My stance, is that there's no excuse to lose 5-6 games. I agree...I think that is what most people are saying. People want everyone to give Riley a chance and be positive...I agree! Be positive! I think he will do great and see no reason he can't win 11!
  4. Ouch that sucks!!! I agree with you on that day...that flat out sucked. I have gone every year for probably 6 years now...not really for the game but just for the atmosphere. It sounds so lame but there is something electric about being in Lincoln on a "game day"...
  5. Welcome to the board and good luck on your trip! Let us know how it was. I have lived here for over 30 years and ZRod has it right. If you can stay at the Embassy Suites. You will be right where the action will be! I agree with this! Embassy is a blast on game days and you can walk to everything.
  6. This seems to be thrown around a lot but I'm not sure I buy it. Obviously the biggest hurdle for Riley is finding a QB for his system but many would argue that our QB play has been holding us back for the last several years and we've won at least nine. And it's repeated often that Riley will adjust to his players. And, as saunders aluded to, Pelini came in with his unqualified staff and installed the most complicated defense known to man and made huge strides in year one. When this came up awhile ago, my contention was it really didn't hold water with history. I asked for any examples of coaches who went backwards in year one but recovered to have significantly more success than their predecessor. Despite many examples being thrown out, the only one that really fit that criteria was Bobby Petrino at Arkansas. They took a big step back his first year but he recovered to have a couple pretty good seasons by Arky standards. But if the transition year is really that much of a worry, I would think there would be examples all over the place. But as far as I can see, if you struggle out of the gate it more than likely just means that it's not going to happen. Mike Shula went 6-6 in his last regular season at Alabama (fired before they lost the bowl game). Nick Saban went 6-6 during his first regular season at Alabama (won his first bowl game). Seems things got better. Yep. So he didn't get worse in his first year. Like I said. So going 6-6 with a loss to Lousiana-Monroe at home, and four straight losses to end the regular season isn't a rocky start just because they didn't lose one more game then the year before? Correct me if I'm wrong but that's an FCS team beating a team that won 10 games two years prior. How about we don't worry about our record this year and look for improvement throughout the season, that will mean a hell of a lot more than #9 wins. It is a little different because you are not a Bama fan...They thought they were going to LOVE Shula and it turns out they hated him...(He might have been a panic hire but I am not 100% sure on the timeline) So Bama fans were freaking thrilled to get him out and get in the new guy...that new guy (Saban) was able to equal the record of the guy they wanted gone so that leaves fans feeling "okay" just like it would here... Shula also went 10-2 only to follow that up with 6-6 (when he was canned) so expectations were even lower...and I think Bama was still on sanctions in Sabans first year or perhaps they had just ended. Most Husker fans are just saying that Riley should win, at the very least, as many games as Bo. That should be the floor not the ceiling.
  7. I always hated the running clock in the second half...but with 20 minute quarters it might be better.
  8. Forecast for Saturday is 73ยบ and mostly sunny. Yep! The problem is that most of this week in Omaha it is going to be cooler and raining. That keeps people (Girls) from planning on heading to Lincoln for the festivities and that will keep a good number of people from showing up, same with some families I would guess. Girls are that way with the 11am games too...they are like "Ugggg, that means I have to get up at 5am just to get ready" ha! It's a 1pm kickoff. And apparently girls are too stupid to look at a weather forecast? Well, some of them! I have already talked with two of them and they feel (right now) that they will not be heading down with their friends because it will not be "nice enough out" But, they very well could just be saying that to me! I'm assuming all these weird excuses you're coming up with are just things girls say to you to get out of having to be near you before/during/after the game. Totally!

  10. I plan on having my first drink by 8am Saturday morning...
  11. I know other winners for the Spring Game... Barry's Sandy's Cliffs Embassy Rail Yard Bodegays

  13. Great thinking...Woodland is very nice and way more friendly!
  14. Totally! I love and hate that course!
  15. Just a guess but I think the QB's will be live because they want to see how they look "under fire"
  16. I will preface by saying that I have no real concern about the team next year. 12 wins. 7 wins. Whatever. But if Bo Pelini can be a first time head coach and install a new defense on a 5-7 team and go 9-4 with a bowl game win, then it shouldn't be difficult to expect Riley, who is perceived to be so much better of a coach than Bo with all his experience, to be able to install an easier to understand defense and a new offense and not do any worse than 9-4. You know, that is a very good point.
  17. Lets make this more relevant! Change "snapshot" to Snapchat! LOVE THAT APP! And good Hoke reset! That is very true!
  18. Because the fixation on year one is kind of crazy. You want to evaluate the new staff one way or another, give them some time to make their stamp on the program and show what they're really made of. Right? They'll show, ultimately, if they were a significant on field upgrade or not. Yes and No For instance...if NU ends up with 0-5 wins this year...lets face it...its "done" If NU wins 12-14 games...lets face it...there will be a new statue next to TO's So that leaves us with 6-11 wins for the "lets see how things go" type of crowd.
  19. That's a lot of quoting, but most people there are comparing the quality of the coaching staff as a whole. Not saying every change made was an extreme upgrade. To my point specifically, this group could be much better as teachers specifically, but when you lose Bo you also lose a ton of knowledge and that can't be expected to not be a loss on defense. Although for all of Bo's expertise, it didn't seem to get taught all that well, no? So, what is it you're trying to say here? "You guys are wrong. The last staff was not as bad as you think"? OK. "You guys are wrong. The new coaches are not as great as you say"? We'll see. "You guys are crazy, because the only way your optimism about the new coaches will turn out to be warranted is if Riley wins strictly more than 9 games in 2015"? ...I don't see the logic in that. All those are possibilities. I just can't figure out why at least the baseline isn't "This new staff is a significant upgrade so we should at least expect the product on the field to be no worse than what we've seen the last seven years." It is exactly what you are saying Mav...the problem is people are worried about putting a number (wins) on it because that is so easily measured ...We all know that is why... You get a Bo lover saying "If Riley doesn't win 9 games this was a huge mistake" its an "I told you so" moment because it is so concrete. So that is why we get the hype and praise for the new staff and how experienced they are with the old * attached. *But I could see them with less wins but that it okay if... I say, screw that! Be positive and excited about it! Do you see a game on the schedule where you think the Skers will be a dog by over 7 points? I don't...They can win 11 games this season.
  20. Good question...which games in the recent seasons was Bo out-coached in where NU lost? UCLA Minnesota (twice) MSU Iowa? Just a few that I kind of think the old staff might have been out-foxed in...So, would Riley and his staff not be out-foxed in those games? I think so, so in my mind that is how that experience would translate to wins/losses
  21. Most everything tough is at home though, most.
  22. #Logic Husker fans are now trying to convince themselves that getting a BETTER coaching staff means worse results. If the basketball team got Brad Stephens for next year, would you expect them to be worse, better or the same? Be excited and be positive!
  23. Breaking news...Husker Basketball will be the first team to ever have two players leave school early for the draft with neither getting drafted.
