  1. That is an amazing idea! I think that you should contact the athletic department and suggest that. I really do think that would kick the volume up a level. What about a Sponsor like Pepsi, Val's or Runza giving out something to the loudest section? All they would need to do is have someone with binoculars really watching the crowd during the course of the game and just kind of pick a section that stands out. It wouldn't be exact of course, but it would probably motivate some people. Sooner or later you would get sections where people have sat together for a long time trying to out compete other sections. Of course the student section would win it everytime if they were included, so they would have to be left out, which would look bad. Just thinking out loud.
  2. I haven't heard much about Rickey since the injury. I already miss seeing him out there. I know some people who have met him and they said great things about him. I know what we have all seen on the field. I have a ton of respect for this guy! Rickey, if you should happen to read this, all of Husker Nation can't wait to have you back! I was so bummed when I saw you go down, but sometimes God allows things to happen for a reason. I know it is bitter sweet, but I am so happy you will be with us one more year. Many of us in Nebraska are praying for you. GO BIG RED!
  3. The funny thing is, if Lee would have hit him in stride on at least 2 passes that I can think of Gilleylan would have 2 more TD's and probably about 5 yrds more per catch.
  4. Actually the line that is set has nothing to do with who vegas thinks will win. The line is set at the point where the money will be even on both sides so bookmakers don't get burned either way, but still collect that 10%. With that in mind, I guess you could say that the line is set according to public perception.
  5. I couldn't agree more. I am probably about your age and I what I remember most back in those days were the d-fense chants and excessive crowd noise. The D-fense chants would carry until the whole stadium would be pulsing and they would last for ever. It was so intimidating. I loved it. Nowdays it seems like everytime a chant gets going it is just drowned out by the p a announcer and everyone is distracted by the jumbo tron. Like you said, I am all for technology adding to the experience, but too often they try to make it the experience. I am sure advertising has a lot to do with that and it will never change. I am convinced that if we used our boards and speaker systems in the way you suggested we would be the loudest, most intimidating stadium in the country. You still see it every once in a while, like the Colorado game last year, when we are really in a battle and finally the fans say F - it, we are going to drown out the speaker system. It is far too rare that it does happen, however.
  6. I'm having a hard time remembering, can someone help me out. Was Kinnie a 3 for 3 or a 3 for 2 guy? I know Gomes was one or the other also, but I always get confused who had what eligibility left. Thanks in advance.
  7. I get what you are saying, but he does has some very big plays after the catch last year, but mostly I was thinking of some of the moves he made on punt returns. He juked quite a few guys out of their jock straps.
  8. I read an interview of Ron Coleman at the end of last year in which Coleman told the reporter that Nebraska was recruiting him and Pelini said to him he didn't care how tall a guy was, if he was good enough to play DT then that's where he would play. Obviously that doesn't mean that he will be offered a scholarship, or even that he will end up at D tackle if he does, but it certainly shows that Coleman knows where Bo stands.
  9. I was very impressed by this kids video. I know this is not right, but when I see a white reciever I always assume he is a possession type reciever. (Nate Swift should have proved to me that I was wrong about that.) This kid has it all. He has very good change of direction, great football awareness, the presence and ability to go up and get the ball, he is very physical as well as determined, he sees the field and uses his blockers very well, and he has very good speed, not a burner, but he seems to get to top speed very quickly. The only thing you can't say for sure is that he has great hands due to the fact that it is a highlight film, but he has some outstanding catches on there, so I think it is safe to say this kid doesn't drop many balls. I am assuming he will be an excellent blocker at the college level as well given his athleticism and his tenacity. I'm really hoping we land this kid.
  10. http://www.huskerjournal.com/recruiting.html JULY 5, 2009. PREP STAR HAROLD MOBLEY, ATH, 6-4, 226, 4.55, CORONA (ROOSEVELT), CALIFORNIA Harold has offers from Nebraska, UNLV, Nevada and Colorado “Nebraska saw my film and I know they like me as a defensive end and I didn’t even have any defensive end tape when they offered me. They also like me as a tight end too.” Mobley said Huskers’ Are The Leaders “I like Nebraska it’s a football school and that’s where I can see myself. Nebraska is on top (leader) right now. I’m willing to leave the area I don’t want to stay in California, I will go to Nebraska. I’ve been talking to a lot of people and doing my research, Nebraska is football oriented school and that’s what I like.” Mobley said Likes NU’S Graduation Rates “I text Coach J P (Papuchis) and also e-mail him and I’ve talked to Carl Pelini,” says Mobley, “ I like Coach J P he talks about the school like how Nebraska has a 95 percent graduation rates of the football players. Like the GPA of the football players averages a 3.0. Just lets me know the good things about the school like that.” “Carl talked to me about visiting, when I’m coming down. I plan on going sometime in July. I will be with my uncle Mark, that’s who I live with.” Mobley said When Will Mobley Commit To NU “I still want to wait and see all the other colleges and see what they have to offer. See if I like the environment. I plan on not waiting the last minute.” Mobley said Hears From Colorado “Colorado told me I can come over there and play early we’ll see what happens about that. I don’t hear from Colorado as much as I do with Nebraska. I checked out Colorado out on the Internet it’s a nice campus, they always have nice weather out there.” Mobley said “I hear from Oregon a lot,” says Mobley, “I hear from Arizona and Fresno. I might get an offer from them later they want to watch some of my senior film first.” Oregon And Arizona Slow Playing “I have family in Oregon so I like the area and they have a good offense. I get a lot of mail from them. They are always telling me to consider their program. I really am but they won’t make a move (offer).” Mobley said “Arizona comes to the school every once in a while,” says Mobley, “I like Arizona it’s not too far away from home and I grew up always watching them play on TV. Arizona always tells me we will get you an offer. I haven’t received it yet so I’m not going to wait around.”
  11. I'm preparing to lose Watson after the 2010-2011 season. That year he is going to get back Lee, Helu, Castille, a ton of O-line and Wide Reciever depth and talent and all of our Tight Ends. I think we will likely have 9 returning starters. If we have a huge year offensively, which I suspect we will, he will probably be a very hot commodity. Not to mention his son will graduate after that season is through. At that point I think we would be in a much better position to lose him however. I think Beck will be ready and our D will be more than established.
