  1. Lets not forget who we were playing! Ohio State is TERRIBLE!!! I agree with some of your points but for us to be so excited for this win is just rediculous. Why did it take such a Herculean effort to beat this team? The fact that we are taking pride in this pitiful win is making me sick. We cant stop dual threat qb's. A slow, unathletic qb that is inaccurate we look great against. If Miller doesnt go down we lose, plain and simple. Are we gonna be able to hurt everybodys qb? No...This team shouldnt have even been within 30 points of us. Im just glad we dont play Northwestern or Illinois. We are going to have a hell of a time against Michigan. I guess our best chance there is to HOPE that Robinson is hurt. For a new guy... you're not a very good poster. Saunders I see you post things like this all the time when you disagree with someone. Knock it off...there is no reason for it and you are really showing a lot of immaturity man. Hyperbole is awesome. You are awesome. I am serious, I enjoy reading some of your opinions. I just think it is beneath you when you post something like that. I know you are better then that.
  2. It's one thing to say he sucked throwing or he shouldn't be playing...but things like these are just wrong and uncalled for. Don't worry Buckeyeboy45...I am not going to generalize your whole fan base, because of those guys. Just like our fan base shouldn't generalize our own fan base.
  3. I just like how everyone is discounting Minnesota. Nebraska at this point can't discount anybody.
  4. I remember Bo saying we don't use a spy. Maybe there are certain schemes the team should try to account for scrambling QB's. I just never want to see a guy like Gilbert from Texas running wild on our defense...no reason that should happen, but it has and I am sure that won't be the last time unless they do something about it. I think with a better defensive line then we wouldn't have to use a guy to account for the QB. At this point though I think they should look into doing some new things to account for scramblers.
  5. I hear that. Lets all enjoy it and quit getting at each other's throats. Everyone knows there are issues with this team, but they fought hard to come back and win it. Just enjoy it for what it is.
  6. Ohio State has lost a lot of talent due to suspensions and then when Miller went out. I highly doubt we win this one if Miller was still in the game. I thought Ohio State played a fantastic game on offense until Bauserman came in. Ohio State will be just fine soon...just need to give it time and get out from under the cloud that is hanging over the program.
  7. What's wrong with Madison? They may be a bit vulgar, but at least they know how to get a stadium rocking. And so one middle aged guy was acting like a clown...that means the whole of Memorial Stadium wasn't "classy"?

  9. Really people? How are people getting away with personal attacks in this thread? You don't agree with ILHusker fine...at least do it in a civil manner!
  10. I might get ripped for this, but at this point Boise State is head and shoulders above us. They are better at almost every facet of the game. They are better coached, disciplined, and they are winners. I am not saying we can't get there and I won't get into their strength-of-schedule. To me it is a reality and it is pretty cut and dry.
  11. Have fun there Paul. I will be working all night once again. But the good news is the games I haven't watched...seems like we have done well. Maybe I am bad luck and shouldn't watch anymore?
  12. I am going to post this speech, because I believe that this is the type of attitude this program is lacking. "Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. "There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game, and that's first place. I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay, and I don't ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it is a game for losers played by losers. It is and always has been an American zeal to be first in anything we do, and to win, and to win, and to win. "Every time a football player goes to play his trade he's got to play from the ground up — from the soles of his feet right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play. Some guys play with their heads. That's O.K. You've got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more importantly, you've got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you're lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second. "Running a football team is no different than running any other kind of organization — an army, a political party or a business. The principles are the same. The object is to win — to beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don't think it is. "It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there — to compete. To know the rules and objectives when they get in the game. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules — but to win. "And in truth, I've never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn't appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat. "I don't say these things because I believe in the "brute" nature of man or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle — victorious." - V. Lombardi No excuses, no whining...show me this kind of passion and this kind of attitude and you will have my support.
  13. I hear ya epoc. I am getting the same way. Sometimes I feel like we should just become like Wisconsin was. It is football, so lets have some fun and party win or lose. Heck, they make jokes about their teams and in all honesty it is pretty funny. I have been a Nebraska fan my whole life, but most of this stuff is just getting ridiculous and embarrassing.
  14. Couldn't really find anything concrete on Hwy 2 in Iowa, but the bid letting is scheduled for Oct. 12.
  15. They were talking like it would open pretty soon, but they were going to put down rock for a road. Maybe I can find an article, but that is what I have been hearing.
  16. Yep...write that down, because that is the route to take. Don't do what some people have done and go past barricades and drive their car into the river. Not kidding they have done that lol. That is what their GPS told them to do I guess. Hope you have a safe trip to Lincoln and good luck to your team. Hopefully it turns out to be a good match no matter what happens.
  17. That was pretty funny. The guy knew he shouldn't even be asking the question. If only Bo would have said t-t-t-today junior.
  18. Maybe someone can help me out here, but what is the benefit of having a scout team? The people on the scout team aren't good enough yet to be second or third string correct? I have just never understood the reason for a scout team. You could try to simulate Wisconsin's offense all you want, but it will never be the Wisconsin offense. Wouldn't we benefit more from just running our offense or defense against the best competition we have...as in the 1's vs 1's? I am just trying to understand and see how other people feel about the practices. I have always felt something is wrong with the way they might practice.
  19. Good thread...I have to go with the 2008 season. I know there were some very, very rough games that year. But that year I had so much enjoyment with how the last stretch of the season went. Guys were playing hard, they never quit, and that Clemson bowl game was a phenomenal ending to the season. For some reason I just really liked what I saw from that team for the majority of the year.
  20. These comments went on for weeks. Even after David continued to make play after play. Good point I hadn't even thought about. The funny thing is he was out of position...I only noticed a few times and I am sure Bo saw it more times then I did. But athletically he was able to make up for it. I have to keep it in perspective that David is probably an exception and not the rule, so I don't want anyone to think that Carnes could do the same type of things at the QB position. I just wanted to say it is a possibility. I manage a fairly large group of people and I have a reasonable amount of turnover. If I see potential, I will take it in the shorts for a long term gain. I don't know whether Carnes has it or not....I'm just throwing it out there. Given the chance, I think Carnes is going to look terrible. I don't think Huskernation would allow it. I think that is how Bo probably sees it. He doesn't see enough from Carnes to give him a shot yet. Pelini is under a lot of pressure to win games now...like a lot of other coaches. Just like you are under a lot of pressure to manage your group and make a profit for your company. If he saw enough potential in Carnes, then he would probably being playing more. There are times where we underestimate someone and they really surprise you though. I think the whole thing is blown out of proportion. Give me a better defense and have Beck call plays to your QB's strength and I don't know if we even have this conversation.
  21. I think you are right PaulCrewe. This Ohio State team has a lot of talent like Texas and they are underachieving like Texas last year. I have always thought this would be a game we would lose if we underestimated them. Since we lost to Wisconsin the way we did...I don't feel as bad about this game. The Huskers got humbled in a big way this year, so I don't see them underestimating anyone at this point. I think it will be a good game really. Against Texas last year, I don't know if we underestimated them or tried too hard.
  22. Knapplc, I have always taken you as a solid Husker fan thick and thin. Not favoring one, but always in favor for the best of the team. You literally just threw one player under the bus to show your particular favor of a specific player. That specific player being Taylor Martinez. If you have a hard on for a specific player, then just say it. Don't hide behind your supposed logic and rationality. Pointing out what is wrong with everyone else's logic? Hell, Phillip Dillard was one of the highest rated backer's in the country and chose to devote his college career to the Big Red. That makes him " N" in my book....and once "N" always "N"...... He voices his opinion on the situation just as the rest of us do. Everybody has an opinion. Just like everyone has had an opinion about this Taylor Martinez situation. Yet you almost refuse to see other views on the T-Mart situation? Why stand up so strongly for "ONE OF OUR OWN"..... yet you throw another "ONE OF OUR OWN " right in the toilet? Not trying to attack you personally, just find it interesting your comments on Dillard. As you use that quote from the great Abraham Lincoln as a sign of ignorance on Dillard's part....could we not say that Taylor's mouth could have been kept shut this week in the press conference in which he in some ways made himself look like an immature fool? It's a bit hypocritical wouldn't you say? Opinions are a double-edged sword in my opinion...irony right there lol. As somewhat of a public figure, like Dillard, you need to learn how to express yourself. I have learned that you gain nothing by insulting someone in public. If he wanted to call up Taylor and tell him personally and in private then I find that perfectly acceptable. Now us on message boards...it is a bit of a gray area. We are just regular people expressing, venting, etc. We won't have any public backlash against us for stating our opinions. But someone in Dillard's case that can kind of comment can bring a lot of problems and it is better left said in private in his case. It isn't fair, but it is how the world works.
